- After successfully fixing the in-cab heater, twice, I decided a good idea was to take my new-to-me 1985 K5 Blazer 4X4 into the woods for some offroad durability testing. The stock axles did not hold up and we ran into some trouble with the four wheel drive. Frozen trail conditions made things even worse for the Blazer and in several sections of trail the Dodge Power Wagon had to help us along.

Love the old K5’s. I’ve had a handful of them. Currently building my 88. It’s almost ready to go. Yours looks to be in pretty good shape. 👍

Are those the tires that came on it? It sounds like it runs good. All you need is gears and lockers it would be a tank.Also that 1995 front bumper has to go. A big steel bumper with a winch would be cool.It’s fun spending your money.
Yes, came with the 37's and they are in pretty great shape. I am thinking.... swap out the smittybuilt chrome bumper for either a big steel winch bumper or maybe keeping a factory look with a hidden winch between the frame rails. I also enjoy spending other peoples money! lol
Do you use an app to find all the cool roads?
Yes and No. The apps don't always have gates and closed roads clearly marked. We find the cool roads by getting out and exploring every chance we get but I use GAIA gps to record what we find. Otherwise, I just get confused and lost. lol
