    • @s_shaleh
      @s_shaleh 2 роки тому

      Dr Sam is teaching us to exercise caution around these areas as many people are sensitive in those areas and can't tolerate retinoids in those areas. Secondly, she specifically mentioned that she's only doing it here because of the Azelaic acid that her Nightly serum contains - which she mentions has no benefits for the skin around eye area. Contact dermatitis is a real thing for some people so don't be insensitive just because you are okay using them in those areas. There are ways to mitigate the problem like buffering the product or better yet, using a dedicated eye product that contains retinoids in percentages that are safe to be used around the eye area. Lastly, there is a good reason why dermatologists don't advocate using retinoids directly around the eyes (unless like I mentioned, they are specifically designed to be used around the eye area) beyond just the irritation that can occur. Because the skin around our eyes are very thin and thus readily absorbs any product you put over it, the percentage of the retinoid in your product is absolutely paramount. Retinoic acid in high amounts has been shown to harm the tear glands which can result in acute dryness of the eyes.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 3 роки тому +1

      Hi, I use her sunscreen and her her cleanser and I am satisfied when I clean twice with the cleanser. Or I use a micellar water first and then use her cleanser. If I dont wear sunscreen or makeup I only clean once. People used to be able to remove their sunscreens before oils cleansing was a thing. So if you like oil continue but you don't have to. If you clean twice with a good but gentle gel cleanser it is enough. I sometimes use oils as well but I don't find one of the technique better than the result when it comes ro result. I do the same routine with orher brands by the way. As long as your cleanser is food... Hope it helps.

      It really depends how much sunscreen you’ve used. If I have reapplied a lot during the day I find I need to cleanse twice. Otherwise I find one really good cleanse with Dr Sam’s cleanser usually removes my mineral sunscreen (it’s tinted so I can always see on my towel if there’s residue or not).

    Hi sam, ❤My mum refuses to use skincare, including sun screen. (The only thing she uses is a horrible, very scented, very essential oil kinda toner thing with 0 beneficial ingredients. ) I've tried so hard to explain to her how important skincare is especially spf but she doesn't care. Her skin is so bad , wrinkles, pores so clogged with years and years of dead skin and sebum,breakouts, parts so dry and flaky and so red and irritated, I don't care about what she looks like cuz I love her but...Her skin is covered in huge dark spots and there's so much sun damage, I really worry about the serious risks of this. My plan is to buy her skincare especially spf but I struggle to afford it myself (I make sure I do buy it tho) and I cant buy it for her for her forever. She tells me it's annoying when I "preach" fo her about skincare but how do I convince her to look after her skin without annoying her? Lots of love Xx

    • @s_shaleh
      @s_shaleh 2 роки тому

      Huge dark spots? Look out for any unusual lumps or moles that weren't there before. They could be signs of skin cancer. If in doubt, please do consult a medical professional. Otherwise, sun spots or age spots are quite normal for someone of a mature age, especially if they haven't been diligent with using sunscreens in the past. They really do catch up with you later in life. Oftentimes we all take our skin for granted when we are young because sun damage don't typically show up that much whilst we are young. It's good to start your mum on using sunscreens daily and retinoids as it's never too late to start looking after your skin and to prevent further damage, but as to what extent you can reverse the damage that's already been done, that remains to be seen. Some damages might be too advanced that at-home topical treatments might simply not be enough.

    • @kendallstark4302

      I think most derms wouldn't recommend two retinol/retinoids products in the same routine. Since her Nightly serum is Granactive retinoid based, it's a good starting point, and then move on to a prescription retinoid. But you already have that, so that's mostly likely plenty for you.

      You are trying to educate a Dermatologist who has been taking care of her patients' skin for more than a decade about a cleansing method that was created by Estheticians? Double cleansing has its place for sure and if you like it and it works for you, then keep it going. But don't try to outsmart a medical professional who has studied skin extensively. It's like trying to teach a Mathematician first grade Math. Dr Sam has been very vocal about her stance against the double cleansing method so no, she doesn't need to subscribe to it just because your favourite UA-camrs do.
