9:15 It's more the opposite. Companies were quick to use the song because they knew Blackpink was incredibly popular worldwide (and cuz the chorus and hook are so easily catchy, lol). They have multiple songs with music videos on UA-cam at over a billion views, and topped streaming platforms, etc. all before the release of this song in 2020. So yeah, I'd guess the ads and such maybe gave them only a tiny bump -- I think most people, like you guys and myself as well, heard the chorus in ads but never bothered to look up more about the song or group. They have multiple songs with music videos on UA-cam at over a billion views, and topped streaming platforms, etc. all before the release of this song in 2020.
So yeah, I'd guess the ads and such maybe gave them only a tiny bump -- I think most people, like you guys and myself as well, heard the chorus in ads but never bothered to look up more about the song or group. I know I first heard it in a Spotify ad that played during MLB games, haha. Then months later found out about the group and have bumped their music ever since.
