    I love to see John on youtube. I owe Bernard, David and John a big thank you for inspiring me to be a potter for 40 years. My lifelong exploration started by reading a potters book in 1972 and now I make pots on the coast of Nova Scotia. Thanks to the Leach tradition.

      And now you are inspiring me to become a full time potter myself.
      Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience on UA-cam

      Just riveting to listen too. Remember first finding him as a student in the 80's in 'Ceramics Mounty' magazine.

    Enjoyed that. What a lovely man. He impressed me greatly when I attended a workshop given by him in Kilkenny, Ireland many years ago. Still have the pots. This piece reassures me that my 40yrs + struggling with clay has not been a waste of time. "The wise man is he who in his old age makes use of the gifts with which he was born" (Uncle Bernard)

    This is what you want a potter to look and sound like! Sadly, this lovely man passed away in 2021, leaving behind a remarkable body of work. Several examples in the V&A.

    Related to Simon Leach? He's a potter I watch here on youtube a lot and who is also from the UK. He talks quite often about his grandfather who invented the Leach Wheel... He's an excellent potter and tons of fun to watch...

    Is John Leach related to Simon Leach? I believe Simon has mentioned he was from Cornwall as well so I'm assuming there must be a family connection. Brothers maybe?

    • @rawmark
      @rawmark 6 років тому

      I answered my own question. Or I should say, Simon did with this video.

    Is this Simon Leach's father??? If so, why did he not mention him as a potter?

      Based on his age, brother sounds more realistic.

      And Simon has a video where he visits his brother's shop.
