    It looks like there's been some more discovery on the midi control for this Zoom pedal, has there been an update to the firmware to support toggling on/off the first 3 effects in a chain? This uses SYSEX though and I'm not sure if these controllers have SYSEX functionality programmed in.

      Where can I find more info on this?

  • @harveyandruss8748
    @harveyandruss8748 3 роки тому

    Fully supported? It looks like you basically just replicated the tap function for the one-way scroll of the patches. Most of us have a separate tuner. So if you already have one-way scroll through of the patches with the center switch on the Zoom, why do I need an external MIDI switch? If it scrolled back in addition to forward, that would help. If it switched from patch to effect chain mode, allowed you to scroll left to right and switch on/off any individual effect, that would be beneficial.

    • @DisasterAreaDesigns
      @DisasterAreaDesigns  3 роки тому

      Totally agree. Unfortunately preset up and down + tuner are the only MIDI CC / PC messages the MultiStomps will respond to. Other features such as effect select, tempo set, etc. are only accessible with MIDI sysex commands and that goes a little bit past what these controllers can do.
      If you don't want a separate switch, that's totally cool. You can still use the memory function on the MS pedals to step through a list of patches. But one big benefit of our controllers is that you can go directly to any patch in any order / random access. And then you can also combine that with other MIDI devices using the 5-pin DIN or 1/4" MultiJack interfaces and have your whole rig change at the same time.

      @@DisasterAreaDesigns Wait a minute, you mean you can have the patch selector go both down and up? Back tracking would be very valuable (not available on base unit, just one-way). All the previous Zoom pedals had this capability with the two left-right foot switches. The one-way ticket on patch selection is why these pedals were probably discontinued. They did have crippled midi, could have been updated/upgraded functionality with an exterior footswitch, but they chose not to. Everyone else is hardwiring in and using left and right effects selection, but to use it rquires a couple of presses that are needed making quick punch in and out (needed for live playing) almost impossible.

    in the video you show how to do the command Bank up, what about the command bank down? is it possible to switch from A to B and then B to A? plus what do you mean with no saving and do the operation every time? every time i plug the controller i have to set the bank function?
    Thanks

    • @AlexanderPedalsUSA
      @AlexanderPedalsUSA 4 роки тому

      Not sure what you mean about A to B / B to A. The DMC can select any of the 50 presets on the Zoom units in any order. You can go up or down as you see fit, and you don't have to reprogram. The DMC saves the configuration in its memory for you.

    Hi guys. Thanks for the videos. Can you please show the Zoom MS 70 CDR with a larger gen 3 controller. I was hoping to get one. Thanks.

    • @AlexanderPedalsUSA
      @AlexanderPedalsUSA 6 років тому +1

      The larger controllers work the same way - the Zoom must be used as the "A" device, and you can access program changes and the tuner over USB. If there's something specific you'd like to see with the larger controllers we're happy to post a video, but otherwise it would be exactly like this one! Thanks!

    • @sunnyhawkings
      @sunnyhawkings 6 років тому +1

      Alexander Pedals thanks for the msg. I understand it only changes patches and tuner function. I was hoping to see a controller access patches by assigned switches instead of scrolling up and down. I was hoping to have possibly 8 custom presets “scenes” and have it laid out where 4 preset switches are bank 1 the go to bank 2 and there are 4 more presets.
      Is this possible? Thanks again.

      I don't have one of those to test, but I would guess that it won't work since the amp needs a USB driver to connect to your computer. Sorry!

    I've been using this for a while. All this stuff still confuses me. I just use it to scroll through my presets (when the DMC powers up i get out of playlist mode and go straight to controlling A device... I think). Seems like you can make a 'playlist' in zoom though and then scroll through that playlist from the DMC? How did you guys do that? The presets scrolled out of order in the Zoom as you went through the playlist on the DMC. Cheers
    While I'm here, I have the DPC-8EZ too. Is there usable a way I can control both devices through the DMC? Whether DMC controls both simultaneously or separately.

    Great vid, will this method happen to work with the Source Audio One Series pedal, like the la lady overdrive? Or would that require a firmware update?

      Just get the Neuro Hub. It's totally worth it if you have a few One Series pedals. The Hub counts as *one* MIDI device and takes a regular 5-pin.
      If you only have one SA pedal, then I'd imagine this would work. Did you try it?

    Hi, I have a doubt. When I connect to the zoom, it generates a lot of electrical noise. I have connected the GMC to 300 mA but it still makes a lot of noise. it has a solution? thanks

    I've just purchased a DPC-5 Gen 3 to control 5 loops and a ZOOM CDR-70 in my amps FX loop but I am having some issues with digital noise when connecting over the USB host connector so could do with some tips if possible.If I just use the USB host to power and control the ZOOM it works great and there is no issue with noise whatsoever. Plugging the guitar directly in the front of the amp it works fine.When I connect the guitar input and output (no loops engaged) to the DPC-5 with the zoom being powered by the DPC, there is a very loud digital whining noise and it's unusable. I'm using isolated outputs from a voodoo labs PSU. Removing the USB cable to the zoom and powering directly from the voodoo labs power supply it also works fine so seems that there is an issue when using the audio path in the DPC-5 and the USB to the zoom. I've tried several USB cables and all have the same issue. Works fine on its own but loud digital noise when using the DPC audio path and the zoom. Also, the digital noise changes when buttons are pressed on the DPC-5. All my cables check out good so could do with some advice on how to fix this.ThanksAndy

    • @DisasterAreaDesigns
      @DisasterAreaDesigns  7 років тому

      Hi there! Try powering the Zoom with the external power supply while having the USB connected - that tends to correct any digital ground loop noise present.

    • @andybee9514
      @andybee9514 7 років тому

      Hi, I've tried this with powering the zoom connected to an isolated PSU with the USB connected and the DPC with its own isolated connection and re-powering the system but the issue still exists unfortunately and I get a load of digital noise. Is there any other things to try? It works fine with and without a separate PSU attached to the ZOOM with zero noise and the zoom is controlled correctly by the DPC. Its only when plugging into the audio path of the DPC I get the issue.Thanks

    Hey guys! I am working on a new board, and I’m wondering if you can help me out. I am trying to control a Line 6 M5, a Zoom MS, and a Syntax Error. Is there a way to make the ES-8 control the Zoom through one of your other controllers? (And also control the M5 and Syntax?)

    • @DisasterAreaDesigns
      @DisasterAreaDesigns  6 років тому

      Actually there is - you can use something like the DMC.micro as a USB bridge. You'll need a slightly custom MIDI cable (or use the DMC MIDI Y cable we sell) but that's all it takes. You can then use the MultiJack on the DMC.micro to control the Syntax Error and the other end of the MIDI-Y to run to the M5. Easy.

It will pull up and activate random presets on the MultiStomp but I can't seem to pick the preset I want with the preset on my DMC-8 and activate/deactivate either. I agree that the large connectors are more robust, however in order to support USB-OTG (on the go, aka host mode) you need to use a connector that supports host mode ID. Mini and Micro both support this, since they have an ID pin present, 5 pins rather than 4. If we could get a big sturdy connector that did USB-OTG and didn't cost a fortune we would have used them!
