How to set up your D-Fi Hub with your Freedom Par Hex 4. If you have trouble understanding the manuals and are trying to use Auto check out this video for easy set up.
Just to clarify what you missed... the channel you are setting on the D-FI and in the S-tr menu is only for COMMUNICATIONS between the Dfi and the light via wireless control only! You can and will still need to go thru the menu on the light and set the DMX channel to any number between 1and 51x for control from the Obey Light controller. The example that is used in this video is using DMX ch 1.
Sorry that I have left this for so long. Yes, I did leave that out, but this is only to get started. Because there was no video on how to connect them anywhere. There are plenty of videos about DMXing lights in the way you mention. To go into the DMX channels, there is a little more that needs to be known and done. You need to know if you are using 12 channels or 6 channels for this particular light, then you can set them up in groups. Group 1 is 1-6, group 2 is 7-12, and so on. There are a lot of videos on how to do that. Here is just one that will help with any type of light. ua-cam.com/video/j2ruI6fJYDQ/v-deo.html
Wow i had the same equipment except freedom par quad 4 fixtures i stopped using this got lazy and just use the remote but i was looking to set this up again thanks... saved me a lot of time will try mydmx GO next week when i get it for now this is cool thanks again
Hello, and thank you for the explanation. How does the thing look when multiple devices are connected. In my case it would be 8 Freedom Sticks. So that each stick does not do the same, must be addressed here. How do I go about this? Thank you very much.
This was just a video on how to get them connected initially to the D-fi as there was nothing out there. There are a lot of videos about DMXing your lights to do what you want. This is just one video ua-cam.com/video/j2ruI6fJYDQ/v-deo.html
Ok, now I noticed that you didn't connect the Hub to the Par, so it must be connected to the Obey 6? I have the Obey 40, Hub and 5P HEX and the Slim PAR H6. Still trying to figure it out.
You can use the obey 40, but to use a or even need the D-fi Hub, you need lights that can wirelessly receive a signal. Otherwise, you will have no use for the D-Fi Hub. If your lights don't allow for wireless transmission you can wire them up and use the Obey 40 as it's intended.
I don't see why it wouldn't work with Show Express since it's Chauvet's own software. I'm using this unit with MyDMX 3.0 right now and works flawlessly. As long as it's connected via XLR to the data box that is connected to your laptop to run the software you shouldn't have an issue.
Say if i want to add more uplights, im assuming i have to set the other lights to the same number as the d-fi hub and the 1st light? I had it set the same way and after running the faders its not changing any colors on the second light.
Yes, make sure that all the settings on the light are the same. (receiving setting(dr-ch), channel control (6-Ch, 12-Ch, or 18ch) and dmx channel) You don't have to touch the D-Fi Hub. I would double-check your setting, but contact Chauvet Customer Service if that isn't working. Without physically touching the light, I can not diagnose the issue.
Just moved into a place with lights around pool and chauvet dj d'fi, I can't seems to figure out how to turn those lights on any help would be highly appreciated
Hey Adil, without seeing the equipment I wouldn't be able to help. I would find out who did the installation or look for a local lighting installation company that can come out and show you how to use the equipment installed.
Shane Watson you can with the obey 4 but its controls are limited if you want to control all 6 channels on the freedom par hex 4 (RGBWA+UV). If you have lights with just 4 channels it would be a perfect wireless controller.
I am unsure. If it has wireless connectivity, I don't see why not, but I wouldn't wirelessly connect cold sparks if you need to hit the emergency shut-off.
You know you can make any light in the Freedom Wirelss series the Transmitter connected to a console with DMX and the rest of the other lights wireless recievers and you don't need a seperate D-FI hub.....
You can but I never have these lights close to the console to connect and have one transmitting. I have since upgraded to the Freedom Flex H4 IP which can not be used that way so this way still works with the newer units too.
This is exactly the video I needed 😂 thank you, Rob!
I'm glad it helped!

We started using MyDMX 3.0 software and you can control them the same way by connecting the D-Fi transmitter to the MyDMX box.
good video parisi ... keep rockin' steady in the free world DJ .

If I have a few of the chauvet Ezpar 64, could I use the D-Fi to run them for wireless DMX? If not, what can I use?
You should contact Chauvet for questions regarding your specific product and I never owned that light and wouldn't want to give you wrong information.
Ok, now I noticed that you didn't connect the Hub to the Par, so it must be connected to the Obey 6? I have the Obey 40, Hub and 5P HEX and the Slim PAR H6. Still trying to figure it out.

You're going from the Obey 6 DMX Out to the Hub's DMX In correct?
Can the transmitter be connected to a computer running show express?
I don't see why it wouldn't work with Show Express since it's Chauvet's own software. I'm using this unit with MyDMX 3.0 right now and works flawlessly. As long as it's connected via XLR to the data box that is connected to your laptop to run the software you shouldn't have an issue.

You didn't mention the actual hook-up of the dmx cables. I'm guessing you ran a cable between the D-Fi Hub and your light, correct?
No, the d-fi is a wireless transmitter for lights that are able to be wirelessly controlled. So, there is no wire connecting the D-Fi to the light.
The only cable you connect is from the console to the wireless transmitter.
Can you do this with multiple lights?
Yes, as many as you like. I have to set up for 20 lights plus two intelligent lights and a couple light bars.
Just moved into a place with lights around pool and chauvet dj d'fi, I can't seems to figure out how to turn those lights on any help would be highly appreciated

@@DJRisi I have a dj dfi but I can't see anything on the screen it's dark, do you think my device is bad?
I been told you don't need to use the flarecon as this is built in the obey 4 d fi
Shane Watson you can with the obey 4 but its controls are limited if you want to control all 6 channels on the freedom par hex 4 (RGBWA+UV). If you have lights with just 4 channels it would be a perfect wireless controller.
The obey 4 d fi is perfect for the Tri 6 lights because they are only RGB and you can have them set on either 3 channel or 4 channel.
Does it work with 2.4 ghz donners?
Not sure. I would contact your local Chauvet dealer or lighting specialist.
Can you connect these to cold sparkles?
I am unsure. If it has wireless connectivity, I don't see why not, but I wouldn't wirelessly connect cold sparks if you need to hit the emergency shut-off.
Can I use the D-Fi with SlimPAR 64'S?
Unfortunately you cannot because they don't have wifi built in them. You can go to www.chauvetdj.com to see what works with the D-fi.
Thank you. On the 64's I have it says satellite ready, what does that refer to?
Will O'Neil not sure. I would contact your seller or Chauvet.
Alright, thanks for the help!
