The way you explain every move you make is the best thing for me, vocalising your thought process so articulately is what makes you stand out from all the rest arena content creators. Keep it up!
It's also made me better at magic I feel since I only started playing last year. Lots more interactions and things to consider than when I started thinking you should use all your mana all the time. Simple things like using draw spells and abilities during your opponents end phase has got me through a lot of games. This first strike trick in the first match is definitely something I'm keeping in the pocket
I pulled off a similar feat once. Opponent was at one and alpha striked with a thalia for an over kill. I had a blood artist out and chumped thalia draining them to death before lethal combat damage. Was riding high off that for weeks
I've always wondered, can you use the Wandering Emperor's +1 to blank someone's damage by giving them First Strike between the First Strike step and the damage step? If so, how do you time it to do that during Arena?
@@JeffLionheart reading the rules, it seems that "first strike combat phase" isn't actually an extra phase that is added. Rather, it is the way that combat damages are assigned that is being modified by the presence of first strike creature(s) on the board. "702.7b If at least one attacking or blocking creature has first strike or double strike (see rule 702.4) as the combat damage step begins, the only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are those with first strike or double strike. After that step, instead of proceeding to the end of combat step, the phase gets a second combat damage step. The only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are the remaining attackers and blockers that had neither first strike..."
perfect timing because I have been playing around with a gruul deck involving thrillseeker. I added Agatha’s Cauldron to potentially make all my counter creatures flingable. Definitely gonna try this one out!
@@LegenVD I recently experimented using cauldron for cheap transformations using Captive Weird and Concealing Curtains, you can transform Sheoldred/Vorinclex/Jin Gitaxias etc. ignoring their conditions. I kept getting run over too soon but maybe you could make it work.
The last match was just MASTERFUL. I don't like these RG decks but that definitely earned a like. It just shows how strong Legend really is. Top quality content, as usual
Yeah that was insane. My favorite thing about watching LegenVD is when he's in a situation where if it were me I would be like "well, I'm done" and he's unfazed so I know it means he sees a path forward, and I'm just like "man, I can't wait to see what he's going to do"
OKAY THIS DECK IS FIRE!!! I've personally been working on a pioneer/explorer rakdos thrillseeker deck that takes advantage of Dreadhorde Butcher's death trigger effect. So much damage out of nowhere! Thrillseeker is an awesomely explosive card! Appreciate you a lot Luca!!!!!
Ahaha, the backfiring first strike really had me grinning. Poor Thalia, I'm not soorry for you, that first strike is generally where an already busted card gets to rub it in!
that 1st game was insane, the Triplet breaks the idea of what First Strike mean and I think the opponent really didnt think about it in those exchanges.
I've been playing something similar but it's a Naya list focusing on agathas cauldron; white gives the other 'modular' creature (bondwarden), the +1/+1 brawler, and ollenbock escort (which blows people out CONSTANTLY because they don't read it or cauldron). Either way, fun variant on the list, thrillseeker is my favorite card from MoM and cauldron is fast becoming my favorite from WoE because of how good they are together
For about a year now I've been rocking Kodama on the ladder and only the last month do I see it occasionally now. It's an insane card for Green modified because when it hits early it's the best ramp card in the format, it lets you trample over token chump blockers, and it provides the oddly rare reach for Green with Halana, crucial vs red deck wins. Beastcaller + Thrillseeker is insane, but I'll give you the secret tech to upgrade this: Agatha's Cauldron! Upgrade your anemic arifact package here to Cauldron + Kami + Wrenn and you can burn out players for 30+ damage out of nowhere. The graveyard control of Cauldron is really relevant now too. A couple Nissa at the top end can be ramped into with Kami/Kodama and give you resilience vs. sweepers. Also, it's an insanely fun deck to play with a really complicated decision tree!
Idk if it was ever a consideration for this deck but Jim Davis recently showed off a similar build that was playing soul cauldron so that everything could have thrillseeker's ability
Wonder if there are any cuts you could make to add like 2-3 copys of "Agatha's soul cauldron" to combo with the "Voldaren Thrillseeker" for an alternate win condition.
Could you make a deck with gruff triplet, voldaren thrillseeker and soul cauldron? Exile thrill seeker, put counter on triplet #1, sac to deal 4, grow the other to 7, sac for 7 damage then 14?
Love the concept, but went harder with the synergies, going a bit more midrange A couple of Tribute to the World Tree and another of Jungan Defends the Temple, both incredibly synergistic here, plus one The Huntsman's Redemption (looking usually for Kodama, Voldaren or Halana) seem to be awesome.
Wish you snuck in an all will be one (is that what the red “counters equal damage” enchantment was called? ) Still waiting for the newest fight rigging deck :)

I agree. I don't even watch other channels when the speaker just reads the names of card. Like we can already see that, be more interesting.
By far the best MTG content creator

Man I'm impressed with your ability to remain cool and recalculate lethal while the timer is almost up. My ass would be SWEATING
I've never seen anyone utilize first strike on defense like you did there in Match 1, Legend.
Nice work!
That match 1... using opponent's first strike to take advantage of death triggers. Not something I'd see everyday!

This is why I like Legenvd so much. Dude was smart enough to use First Strike to his advantage. Absolute gamer
the mirrex + wurmlet play and all those first strike shenanigans had me filled with great joy. extremely enjoyable vid as always
I loved that first game. Turning an opponent's own cards against them outside of blue and/or black.

Seriously, Thrillseeker is so underrated. I love that card. You could look into working in a Kami. I love it. Extra mana and pumps counter play.
Crazy smart line of play at 34:00.

Today i learned something new. Use first strike to your advantage. Masterful

Dedicated viewers know this means that the opponent has already lost.
Gruff triplets is such a good magic card!
Thanks for the content, those were some very nice games, especially the first and the last, i really appreciated those.
That mono white player in the first match STILL swung with Thalia after you displayed how first strike damage helps your blocks.
Like bruh 😅
March 1 was such great breakdown.

Always have a backup plan

Aww man 24 rares not counting the rares, I wanted to play this deck so bad!
Nice to see LVD mostly taking a break from stomping RDW , switching it up to dominating azorius soldiers😂

Surprised there’s no soul cauldron in conjunction with thrillseeker
I was playing, and watching the video.... then this deck appear against me, the opponent doesn´t know maths
Oh no, Thalia has first strike! My creature will die first 😟
Oh yes, Thalia has first trike! My creature will die first 😈
I wonder why Picnic Ruiner is showing 6 mana in the first game, what a weird bug
+1 from Thalia should be 5 total
Thalia beeing to quick for her own good.
