- Most people enjoy certain genres of games. Be it roguelites, metroidvanias, survival games, sandbox games or strategy games, there is usually something out there for everyone. But what happens when we get tired of a certain game in the genre? Should we move on to a different game in the same genre, or should we adventure out of our comfort zone and try something completely different?
In this video, I share my experience of sticking too comfortably in the same few genres of games, and how trying something new was able to rekindle the spark I had for gaming as a whole, and how that allowed me to see my beloved genres in a whole new light.

Aw :( My 11 year old and I just got into Terraria and I was watching your videos for ideas, because we both are so terrible at the game lol. Just lost all the time, and my son will just go wherever he wants and die repeatedly. Im thankful for the videos you have released for sure! thank you for your time! I still rewatch trying to figure out how you do things :)
Have fun!
So you're telling me there are parents who play games with their children? I wish my parents were like this 😔
One thing that is true to lots of us is that you shouldnt force yourself to grind, hundreds, and maybe thousands of hours on a game you dont even consider fun anymore. because the truth is your happiness and enjoyment is more important than your attachment to a videogame
dont feel forced to do something you dont like
If you give a game or genre about a year or 2, sometimes 3, and come back, its easy to get hooked again. It's about having patience with yourself in that regard
This was a super relateable watch. I think I recently had a very similar experience by trying out a bunch of horror games (Amnesia, Dead Space) along with an fps i sunk 400 hours into. A few days ago I tried terraria again with some friends and I don't think I've enjoyed it this much in years.
This is one of the most relatable videos I’ve ever watched.
I mainly play kerbal space program, and that's because it fits into several game genres at once. At the surface it's a space flight sim game, but depending on how you play it could be a base building game, a platformer game, a torture sim, a racing game, a murder sim, and so much more!
I tried Kerbal, but I couldn't get beyond the torture sim part of the game.
I had this same experience, even down to the individual games you listed off, minus maybe 1 or 2. I’ve desperately looked for things to fill the Terraria/Stardew Valley-shaped hole in my life and most games fell short and I moved on fairly quickly. The only ones that really stuck were Core Keeper and Elden Ring. They both gave me that same sense of wonder and discovery as when I first played Terraria. If you played Sekiro then I’d be willing to bet you’ve played Elden Ring already, but Core Keeper is definitely worth checking out. It’s essentially Terraria from a top-down perspective and with almost the same amount of polish and love put into its (ongoing) development.
I recently got into Super Auto Pets too and it’s a lot of fun. You can play it on Steam, in a browser window, or on your phone. There are no micro-transactions or anything, but I’ve purchased all of the expansions because I’ve enjoyed the game so much and wanted to support the team. I highly recommend giving it a try.
The beginning of MMO rabbit hole... It's a ride, for sure, but man does it comes with a price hahahahah
Yay new video finally
Finally a vid thx zuzu
maybe finding someone to play with would do the trick since i dont like playing alone even if it makes fighting bosses harder since you get hit from weird angles if you know what i mean.. I get what you and this really is something to talk about and try finding a solution to.. maybe finding more things to explore works and just trying out new things is the way.. it just depends on the person.. an internal battle that we all need to find a way of..
Amazing video ^^
Hi zuzucorn! You should definitely try out the game called grounded it’s so much fun! You definitely would like that type of game, it’s like a grind rpg survival game! It’s also co op too
Letsgoo new video
My first game I played was Minecraft, and it is still my main and favorite game for over 6 years, but not long after I started playing MC I played some other free browser games created by users on Scratch. And not a single game is ofc better than Minecraft, also because Scratch only allows limited things, but they were still extremely decent and even multiplayer is possible there, and you get more varieties of games to try. Last year than, I started playing Terraria right after 1.4.4 came out, but I got into the game extremely quickly and got some playthroughs on Master Mode and one on Legendary Mode. I even managed to get some No-Hits on Hardmode Boss Fights in Master Mode.
Gonna be a banger i know it
The goat has returned 🐐
("BRO SAID NUTS THATS A SWEAR")🤓
The 🐐 is speaking fax.
I literally played so many rogue-like games that I got bored of them and gaming.. till I tried Monster Hunter World with a friend, we had such an amazing time playing it. We're currently into the Iceborne dlc. ( soz for the bad english 😭 )
9:13 And now I think about Arabian Princes with 42000 hours in Dota 2
I miss you man
Maplestory was the first mmo, and the start down a dark path to other mmo's, loot boxes, dailies, and never ending power scaling. I don't miss mmo's.
You never played Starbound?
It's not a grand RPG like terraria, but it's good on its own right, especially on the first playthrough.
And if it gets stale on the second, the Frackin Universe mod overhauls the game and adds honestly TOO MUCH and it's great
I really do recommend it to anyone who wants an exploration sandbox game that has amazing pixel art, music and building
As someone who's spent 1200 hours on this game, i can confirm it is a great game
You have an aversion to it now because you’re burnt out on it. Eventually, perhaps years even, you’ll boot it up again and feel a flood of memories, and you’ll be back in the game again. I speak from personal experience.
Same here, this is exactly the reason we sometimes pick up the games we dropped.
Playing other genres also can improve your skills you suck at and can even make you better at your favorite game.
I do like to play Terraria Calamity FTW Infernum to improve my RLcraft skills
Sick🔥
we would love to see videos of other games
YOOO i missed you man
New video let's goooooooo
Yooo a new video
Hey @zuzucorn , Can you make an Ankh shield guide, the wiki isnt helping me out 😔
I identify with this
Im also getting tired of terraria but im forcing my self to play, maybe its time for me to focus on my life now and stop spending 9 hours on games everyday. As i get old my interest on games will someday disappear.
I play fps, mmorpg, tower defense, terraria idk what category it’s in, and sports game. Plus others I forget about.
You could take a look at,,cult of the lamb" and ,,dredge" 😅
Try tens of thousands in my favorite games
This feels less like an explanation of why the audience should play multiple game genres and more like an explanation of why you're choosing to do variety content thinly veiled as the former.
No it sin't thinely vieled, thqt is quite literally the purpose of the video
@@CBman11037 Which is why the title is "Why YOU Should Play Different Types of Games"?
I hate to say it, but I agree
I am a mobile player and i beat terraria twice once on classic and once on expert then i just couldnt play without getting bored after a year of playing roblox minecraft and watching anime i got back into terraria master mode as a summoner for a challange and im still doing it im post skeletron rn and its fun
after u have zenith and also beat the moon lord in master mode you feel happy for that and also sad :)
Bro become a wise man ❤️
I just bought terraria, i have like 25 hours in alredy and i still havent defeted the moonlord, maybe in just a noob but i like doing slowly the things and get the 100% experience from a game before finishing it
hey I know its the wrong video for this but I just need help I was watching your wing guide and I wanna get the leaf wings. I have deafeded the queen bee and I have the right NPCin the jungle but he doesn't trade it pls tell me why and how I can fix this
It got updated, just check the wiki.
Thats Minecraft for me currently. I dont like to play it anymore

Today I just defeated moonlord today for the first time I was main ranger class in expert mode now ever enemies are peace of cake (not talking about impress of light day time ) I will never try that lol but ya now idky tbh what to do or play
My Monster Hunter playing self spending 999.999 hours (and that's only the cap for that numer) on a single save file (of 3).
What up bluddddddd
I have a Chrono Trigger save game with level 99/all stats ☆☆ characters
Took me on and off like 10 years
I have over 100 hours in terraria but when I start playing terraria, it feels fun and same with hollow knight, I have every ending in hollow knight and when I play hollow knight, I still having fun
woah early 👍
whats the game at 1:12 ?
Bro try world of Warcraft
Look witch path you like it's like 12 dollar a moth i think
Maybe you liked
You should try dead cells
Nice Corny
I am autistic just in case it means anything
Btw I love terraria and I have been playing it since 2017 I know more than everything and most of the stuff in some big content mod and I am still enjoying the game
And when I tried new genres like stardew valley I realized I was bad and didn't like the game so I stick with platforms puzzle and action games like zelda kirby hollow knight metroid and some others even pokémon despite that I am bad at it somehow
does this mean you wont make terraria videos anymore
To be completely honest horror games are only fun with friends so u can bully the monters
u should try to play identity v!🎉
Do what makes you happy zuzu. If this is a confession that you're going to play and upload other types of games, I'm all for it. Terraria is an amazing game and yes after thousands of hours the game does get in a way kinda boring. I still love it but like you as said as humans some variety and change helps fill our satisfaction. Take care zuzu
100,000 hours is 11 years dawg
Do I have toooooo??
I hope one day you will make a terraria video agin mabye in like 2 months but if you don’t it your choice not mine it just matters if you have fun
Even if you won't be doing terraria anymore please don't abandon the channel
This is such a strange video for me. I play games in every genre regularly. I attempt to try a minimum of 30 new games every year, so the idea of sticking with just one game sounds miserable and so limiting.
games
hello im playing 274
monster hunter
try rdr2
Maybe you need a break from games all together, and should think if pursuing other hobbies for that "high". Games are an income source, so just not playing them in your "free time" may help. Then come back fresh after some time away.
