***Another Update - Eufy will release a firmware update to the HB3 this weekend and hopefully, this will fix the ones that this reset fix didn't work for them.***
this shows the well deserved influence a very knowledgeable dedicated person has on a company to fix the bugs in a product. congratulations to you on the following you built and respect. And kudos to Eufy in listening
They did eventually fix the issue, but shown here is only a work around, Eufy is ok, many things however never do get fixed, it will all work fine, then have issues for weeks, it a very hot and miss company. Definitely not the “best” But cost effective, no subscription security system, that has and still has issues. Like cars that it thinks are people, or recording and alerting on things behind privacy screen that are set up, the a week later it works like it should. I was all ready to order the Home base 3 with three cameras. After seeing your video I wasn't sure I should until this issue is fixed. This latest video makes me feel a lot better about ordering. I will post an answer to how things went when I receive the home base and cameras. Thank You LifeHackster and Merry Christmas.
When I saw your original video I thought there must of been something off with my unit because I wasn’t experiencing any of the issues you were experiencing. That’s what I love about Eufy, they actually listen.
Thanks for the update Lifehackster. You had me concerned because I had just received my E340 Floodlight camera 20 minutes prior to watching your video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for the tips, i’ll be installing the floodlight via power cable thank you for posting the video on the hack. No worries, i’ll be super safe and take responsibility for any electrical issue. 😅
Thanks. Eufy 2k flood light was recording in 1080p this whole time. Just switch it to 2k with your instruction. My eufy 2k door bell was already in 2k so that one was not affected.
I have two S300 and the HB3. When I try to change the recording quality from 1080p to 2k or 4k, it doesn‘t work because these two other options are greyed out. And there is a hint in red letters, that only recording in 1080p is possible because the recording to NAS (which is the HB3 in this case) is active.
The S300 are the Eufy Cam 3Cs right? If it is, then it should be recording in 4K. It needs the homebase because that is the only way they can record the motion events (they don't have built in storage)
@@LifeHacksterYes, that‘s right. My two S300 (3C) are connected with the HB3 and as I wrote, it only records in 1080p instead of 4k and it is not possible to change the resolution. All other resolutions (2K & 4K) are grayed out in the eufy App. When the cameras are connected to the HB3, the following error message appears in the eufy app "Since you have NAS enabled or subscribed to cloud storage, recording only supports 1080 Full HD". As already mentioned, the cameras are connected to the HB3 and not to a NAS. Also, I have not activated cloud storage.
I thought you had to activate the NAS (RTSP) option so that the cameras save the recordings on the HB3. When I deactivated the NAS storage, all recordings were still stored on the HB3, this time in 4k! => Problem solved

I just installed a Samsung SSD 2 TB in my homebase. Thanks for the advice and the heads up. I just did this little workaround reset as well. Just waiting on my gutter mounts and we’ll be in business.
Thanks for the update, glad to see they responded quickly. As a controls programmer, I can see how this may have occurred, as well as see as how this would be a work around until they upgrade firmware. On a side note, I saw some responses to your last vid along the lines of 'nothing but problems with Eufy' while you, many others and myself do not. I was wondering if you might consider compiling best practices/suggestions video later at some point? For example, I'm wondering if a main source of problems isn't Eufy (or Wyze, Ring, whatever brand they're suing) but if a lot of people are using wireless devices without a good wifi network; or if some might resolve/reduce issues if they added wifi extenders for cameras that are too far from their router, created a mesh network to separate security items from their main network (potentially clogged by family members streaming different shows at the same time), etc. Apologies if you've already made such a video, I haven't gone back to watch them all. Thanks again for all the work you do!
I might need to make a video on that. WIFI and battery life are the main cause of complaints of these type of cameras. WIFI interference is another thing too. Thanks for watching!
HB3, doorbell, 3 x 4K cameras solar, 1 x 4K non solar, 2 x 2K non solar, 2 x 3K floodlight wired cameras. Working for about a year except the 2 floodlight cameras purchased recently. The only problem I ever had is when trying to save a video from the floodlights 24/7 recording, not the events, the app closes. Overall really pleased.
Wow I'm surprised it was such a simple "fix". I wasted days with Eufy support on this issue but the only explanation they had was that turning on AI features limits it to 1920 which clearly was BS. It took a youtube video to force their engineering team to actually look into this problem when it should've been caught in QA testing before the E340 was even launched.
@@LifeHackster Yes, but you were the only person Eufy listened to.. They should be paying you extra for reporting their bugs! Speaking of which there's another bug with the E340 floodlight I just discovered and I commented on the review video about it...

Good to see this issue fixed. Another issue I have with the S220 Solocam and Homebase 3 is at 3am each day the HB3 communicates with the S220 and on finishing the blue status light on my S220 illuminates and stays on until either manually turned off or motion is detected. I know of others with the same issue but Eufy not accepting it happens. I have this light set to off in my S220 settings.
didn't work for my floodlight cam 2 pro. still recording at 1080. also while you're at it, call them out for not having 24/7 recording on this so they can fix it. Can't see any bloody reason why a wired flood light with hb3 support does not have 24/7 recording. also, as per the other commenters, the recorded is video choppy AF. They need to fix this while they're at it too.
Outstanding and thanks for the update! Question...does anyone know why Eufy records, in terms of deleting them all at once are so slow compared to others for instance like Arlo. Eufy really needs to update their app with items such as 'select all' to delete recordings, etc.
This hasn't worked for my indoor cameras or the outdoor solo cam pro after following the instructions. I have even restarted both the HB3 and cameras. Changed the video quality settings multiple times, closed the app and reverted back to 2k recording without success. Recording directly from the live view records at 2k but recorded footage is still 1080. I have 5 cameras currently connected to the HB3 and only one recording 24. One thing I haven't tried is removing the original SD card. I am not sure if that will make a difference.
Well I still have this issue with 4 of 8 of my cams. The workaround applied to my S350s and E340 doorbell. However, the workaround doesn’t work for my E220 new, E220 Pan/Tilt (2ea) and C120. I have left an email form to Eufy for technical assistance and asking when they’re going to release a firmware update to the HomeBase 3. Any word Lifehackster?
So I just got a response from a Customer Support Engineer. They said “Know that when connecting the wired cameras to the Homebase, the camera only support recording video via 1080P.” Kinda lame response, don’t even acknowledge the issue or fix.
I'm sitting with 5 new Eufy cameras and wondering if i should return them after finding the video talking about the Flaw of rest button wiping out all clips. Eufy was notified 18 months ago and their response was its working how it was designed not a bug, happy to see a video saying Fixed and hoping this is Fixed or i box them up and send back.
I don‘t think so.
To answer the question, I have an S300 connected to the Home Base 3 and it records in full 4K. The NAS options are only if you want to stream to a 3rd party NAS. For HB3, you do not select NAS, and it will record 4K to HB3
@@sw793you‘re right, thank you! I thought you had to activate the NAS (RTSP) option so that the cameras save the recordings on the HB3. When I deactivated the NAS storage, all recordings were still stored on the HB3, this time in 4k!
i have the duo 2k doorbell /homebase 3/2 solar camera's , but the connection is awfull, when the doorbell is finally connected though my phone, the person ringing it is long gone
You do have to check the connection of your phone. If it is connected to your home's WIFI, test it by using just your cellular connection just to compare.
Hasn't worked for me 😢 24/7 pro cam, and whilst I can't find where it says the resolution in the app, there's a clear difference between live and recorded, especially noticeable on license plates. Any ideas a year on?
I did try that and oddly enough I had one event record in 2k but then also had another event this morning which only recorded in 1080p. 🤷 Hopefully the upcoming firmware fix you mentioned fixes the issue for good! 😊
I have other issues. New s330 doesn't save file in homebase 3. Storage method only available NAS(RTSP) I contacted Eufy, and they said on the Android devide there is not possiable save onto homebase 3. Then why do they selling camera and homebase bundle. They should put note 'iphone only' But i can still see the notifications. It juat don't save into homebase.
I just found you. I need help in choosing the OLAIKE Charging Anti-Theft Video Doorbell Mount for Ring Video Doorbell, No Need to Remove Batteries and Brackets for my (RING BATTERY DOORBELL PLUS). Help sooner so that I can take advantage of the Christmas sale. Thank you.
This same thing happens to tapocams before you start to record anything remember always check the settings first, set it at 2K/4K whatever the camera resolution is supporting playback to see the recorded footage, if it’s okay then you have set it correctly
I can't seem to share a single camera hooked to my home base 3, it's all or nothing. I had to remove my e340 doorbell and reset it up as a standalone wifi device because my wife doesn't want a ton of notifications from the other cameras connected to the home base 3. She would like to have a view of a eufy cam3 pointed at our bird feeders though, is there a way to share a single device on home base3? New user here, love your reviews!
E340 spotlight with HB3 on latest firmware. 3K video recording in E340 settings, 3K stream live view causes buffering issues. Continuous recording doesn't record at 3K at night. It saves at 720p which I'm very peeved. Why isn't it recording continuous at 3K when it's set up for 3K. HB3 connected to router via ethernet with 1tb HDD. I don't know what to do and this POS cost me over £300 + £135 installation yesterday.
Do the wireless cameras send their video feeds over WiFi to the home base or do they have to connect directly to the home base? I want to setup full cameras Eufy cameras in our house but not sure they will all be able to connect to the home base directly due to range but they would all have strong WiFi single to connect to
Depends on how you set it up. Most cameras of eufy can connect directly to your networks/home WIFI but you can also set it up to record to the homebase and they will connect to the Homebase's WIFI. So, if you are using the Homebase, it will not matter... for the cameras anyways on how strong your home wifi is because they connect to the homebase.
@@LifeHackster so the cameras have to be able to connect directly to the homebase, hmm my router is in the basement and was going to connect the homebase directly to the router but the cameras outside won't have enough signal strength then with the base in the basement
I have issues with the system. I see the clips, I play it and see the motion. I go back later and it’s an empty clip of just the scenes where the motion happened. Even on the continuous recording it’s gone motion it’s gone.
Please help my Eufy e330 24/7 recording are not recording all the time you can see time when recorded videos skips 1min or 20sec so not smooth full 24/7 recordings 😢
Hey i bought the seagate barracuda 2.5 5t hard drive and installed on the home base but the home base isn’t recognizing it, the hard drive isn’t appearing on the app just internal storage :(
How do you increase the range of homebase 3? Will the cameras connected to wifi network record to Homebase? I have not seen any videos regarding this issue
It doesn't work for the Eufy S100 (only tested it with connected to the Homebase S380). It always records in 1600 x 1200. Even when trying the method in your video. Also tried it with rebooting the cam in between. And tried reconnecting with the HB 3. Note: When you "manually" record it from the live view, the video is 2k! Seems a bug to me.
I have HB3 with S330 cam. I keep receiving old alarms and when I opened it, it only showed “unable to play video clip”. I researched and found that this problem has been on for a lot of users and Eufy has done nothing about it. I wish I did a research before purchasing. I will never buy any Eufy product again.
What sort of quality is the final recording? What I see on mine is that altho the resolution is correct for 2K, the video saved to HB is highly compressed. A 2 minute video results in about 15MB file and if you try to zoom in for any detail (like to see a car licence plate), all you can see is big fuzzy compression artefacts. It's effectively saving something like an upscaled 480p image.
I tried this for my Eufy floodlight cam 2 pro, and it didn't work. I reset, restarted, nothing. But it's weird. If the clip is short, like 10 seconds, it will record in 2k, but longer it defaults back to 1080...
What is the advantage of this compared to the cameras in the app? Save it to the HDD I know. But if you want to access the cameras and watch the recordings of the day, are these recordings displayed quickly? Now that I have not yet connected any cameras to the home base, it sometimes takes a while before I can see the history of the cameras in the app. Loading these takes takes quite a while without a home base... does this work faster with the cameras connected to the home base?
Hi... after I added the indoor S350... All 3 of my outdoor cameras 4K with solar built-in are no longer sending videos, captures and notification. But when I restart my Homebase 3 it is fine for a while only. Later it stops again.... should I buy another Homebase 3 for the S350?
I just gave it a quick try before leaving home this morning and still stuck at 1080P going to have to try it again when I get back *** update, tried again and got it to work this time. If anyone has any issue getting it to save, try going down to the bottom of the specific device settings page and hit restart device, wait a minute or two for the change to take effect. You can then do a test detection, download it and check the file resolution ***
My biggest question is . When my potential setup is running cameras will be surrounding my property area, all will be connected to Wi-Fi but most will be 50 foot plus away from the Homebase 3, WILL IT WORK?
Hello fried, how many cameras can be continuously recording to homebase 3?, according to eufy its only 4 then the rest are only events, right now I have 4 2k pan and tilt and 2 4k s350s and all are continuously recording, only thing I noticed is 2 pan and tills 2k are only recording in 1080p. Do you have more info on this. Thank you.
I have the weirdest thing happen some of them I can download the videos but only with the indoor cameras that when I play them the go from let's say 30 seconds to 3 hours until I turn the sound off and I can't play them with the sound on
What i would like to see... have a continuous recording choice 24h/7 when we have our battery cameras like eufy 2c with continuous energy power connection.
The problem I'm having with homebase of the range. I have to have the homebase wired to my router as per eufy. That limits the range. So I stopped using homebase and set all my cameras to wifi
So my e220 indoor cam will not record 24/7 unless I put an sd card in it. I was told when I purchased it, that it would record 24/7 to the home base 3. Am I doing something wrong?
Please help. My cameras app keeps showing the updating signs.. i can't access the video.. its been saying updating for 2 weeks now i have the eufycam 2 battery. Thanks
Hi, there question for you. What type of Tablet do you recommend on using to monitor your Home security or that is more compatible with Eufy that is less hassle?
Since it's only possible to record 4 cams continously to the HomeBase S380, would it be possible to record to an inserted SD card for the other cams while still being connected to the HomeBase in order to benefit Edge AI ? I have 4 E340 floodlights and 3 S350 indoor cams that I'd like to record 24/7 while benefit from Edge AI and cross tracking
Please ask eufy to allow switching indoor cameras to away mode when you hit the away button from the eufy key pad (home security system) or at least allow an alexa routine to do this. I don't get why eufy purposely did not consider indoor cameras for this automation. Thank you!!!!!
The only way I can get it to record in 2k is if I record it when viewing live. If I record from playback then it is still in 1080P. Streaming set to High and I changed it from recording in 2k, back to Full HD, and back to 2k again. I have it set to Continuous recording and Storage to my HB3. Should I take out the SD card? I left it in in the event that my wifi went out.
Try doing it again but make sure you totally exit the app when you initially set it to 1080p. Or you can restart your phone just for good measure…and see.
If you press the record icon then it will be saved directly to your phones album. To view motion events, make sure you arm the camera in the security mode.
@@LifeHackster ..got it One more question. I see under my HB3 there is "Restart". Should a do that and if yes will it update or take back to factory setting
Yeah eufy keeps on giving canned responses keeps saying that events will only record in 1080p sadly eufy doesn’t seem to give a single crap. I’ve tried and tried spent 30 minutes on phone with no one to answer
I have a Homebase E along with 3 x Eufy Cam E and a 1080p doorbell. All of them take an age to load up on the app and I get frequent error codes. Will the Homebase 3 remedy some (if not all) of these issues?

Thanks for the video iv a HB3 on order so was a bit worried as il be moving over from the HB2 bur all good now!
Great information.
@JosephDawson...Thanks for watching!
Appreciate you bringing this to our attention. No, this didnt work for me. I'll just wait for the update this weekend.
How about the S300 can it record higher than 1080 on HB3? Thanks a lot for your effort, Kabayan.
I don‘t think so.
To answer the question, I have an S300 connected to the Home Base 3 and it records in full 4K. The NAS options are only if you want to stream to a 3rd party NAS. For HB3, you do not select NAS, and it will record 4K to HB3
The S300 are the Eufy Cam 3C's right? If it is, yes, they should be recording in 4K. Thanks for watching!
@@sw793you‘re right, thank you! I thought you had to activate the NAS (RTSP) option so that the cameras save the recordings on the HB3. When I deactivated the NAS storage, all recordings were still stored on the HB3, this time in 4k!
@@youtubeuser8436 pleasure to help.
This won't work for me because the 2k recording option is grayed out. It has been this way since I set up the camera.
Which model of camera you have?
i have the duo 2k doorbell /homebase 3/2 solar camera's , but the connection is awfull, when the doorbell is finally connected though my phone, the person ringing it is long gone
You do have to check the connection of your phone. If it is connected to your home's WIFI, test it by using just your cellular connection just to compare.
Hasn't worked for me 😢
24/7 pro cam, and whilst I can't find where it says the resolution in the app, there's a clear difference between live and recorded, especially noticeable on license plates. Any ideas a year on?
I followed this for all of my cameras that should be recording in 2k and unfortunately it did not work for me. Still recording in 1080p. Bummer!
Sorry to hear that. Make sure though when you exit the app, totally restart it.. or probably try restarting your phone.
I did try that and oddly enough I had one event record in 2k but then also had another event this morning which only recorded in 1080p. 🤷
Hopefully the upcoming firmware fix you mentioned fixes the issue for good! 😊
With eufy indoor pan and tilt 2k not working. eh. hopefully they fix it via updates. until then im just switch back to record to sd card
Yes, I just tried it with my indoor pan/tilt and it is still 1080P.
I have other issues. New s330 doesn't save file in homebase 3. Storage method only available NAS(RTSP)
I contacted Eufy, and they said on the Android devide there is not possiable save onto homebase 3.
Then why do they selling camera and homebase bundle. They should put note 'iphone only'
But i can still see the notifications.
Thank you.
Doing that did not work for my floodlight cam 2pro it's still recording on the home base 3 1080p
I have the same issue. I'm very disappointed by the eufy cameras.
What camera do tou recommend from riolink 24hr recording to sd card?
I like their CX410 or the Trackmix...wired/WIFI.
I haven't tested this yet but I think this is because the homebase controls everything connected to it and it might just be all or nothing.
Looking at buying Eufy HB3, doorbell, & cameras. So this has been fixed and everything is working as it should now?
Please help my Eufy e330 24/7 recording are not recording all the time you can see time when recorded videos skips 1min or 20sec so not smooth full 24/7 recordings 😢
unfortunately, this approach did not work for my floodlight cam S330
Good to know,im getting s340 tomorrow
I have HB3 with S330 cam. I keep receiving old alarms and when I opened it, it only showed “unable to play video clip”. I researched and found that this problem has been on for a lot of users and Eufy has done nothing about it. I wish I did a research before purchasing. I will never buy any Eufy product again.
My homebase has been flashing blue and red for days. Resetting, turning off the router, etc. didn't help. eufy customer service didn't help either
I just did this with mine and it’s still going back to 720p you got any ideas?
Eufy don’t know what’s going on
What is the advantage of this compared to the cameras in the app?
I just gave it a quick try before leaving home this morning and still stuck at 1080P going to have to try it again when I get back
*** update, tried again and got it to work this time.
Thank you.
Has the firmware update to enable the pre roll feature on the E340 Doorbell been pushed out yet? If so will you be testing it?
I have the weirdest thing happen some of them I can download the videos but only with the indoor cameras that when I play them the go from let's say 30 seconds to 3 hours until I turn the sound off and I can't play them with the sound on
My E220 Pan and tilt and C120 indoor cam still records at 1080P on the HB3 after the updates. This is terrible
Hi. I would like to know if eufy cameras could be viewed all together on one screen.
Could I ask how loud the Homebase 3 siren is
It is loud but I haven't really measured it.
@@LifeHackster thanks. By the way eufy has released the external siren, would be happy if you have a video on it
Is there anyway to get more than 15fps on any of the eufy cameras?
I think that’s their max. Hoping they will offer faster frame rates in their future cams.
@@LifeHackstercan you recommend a WiFi camera that has a higher refresh rate?
I just purchased 2 wired flood lights based on your review, please let us know when it’s fixed 🙏
My app doesn't recognize home base3. It keeps telling me to add it but it's there
How to fix the red light anyway…
Wow that was quick
So my e220 indoor cam will not record 24/7 unless I put an sd card in it. I was told when I purchased it, that it would record 24/7 to the home base 3. Am I doing something wrong?
Please help. My cameras app keeps showing the updating signs.. i can't access the video.. its been saying updating for 2 weeks now i have the eufycam 2 battery. Thanks
Hi, there question for you. What type of Tablet do you recommend on using to monitor your Home security or that is more compatible with Eufy that is less hassle?
Can you do a video on the differences i n HomeBase 3 and just connecting to a Wi-Fi ?
Hello and thank you.
Is it possible to schedule the operating hours of this cameras? Maybe is possible from the Homebase ?
Have you tried the Solar wall light cam S120 beta since it’s not the fully version like we thought.
Do you know if using a SSD or HDD internal storage makes a difference in playback speeds?
Just tried this on my E220. Did not work 😕
The only way I can get it to record in 2k is if I record it when viewing live.
@@LifeHackster still didn't work. Even tried turning off the camera after changing the settings both times. Restarted phone in-between changes, etc.
@@kjcl90 eufy just gave me a heads up that there will be a firmware update this weekend for the homebase 3 and hopefully this will fix your issue.
@@LifeHackster thank you for all that you do!
Just purchase doorbell 340
Pressed video icon to record. Unable to see recording playback Can you help correct
If you press the record icon then it will be saved directly to your phones album. To view motion events, make sure you arm the camera in the security mode.
@@LifeHackster ..got it
One more question.
