The cardinal used middle ground verbiage, which is the main problem. When the Vatican has to go out of their way to explain that the union of the couples can't be blessed, then there never should've been a blessing for any "couple" in unnatural relationships. They can come and be blessed individually. 99% of the controversy and possible exploitation would be avoided.

All one has to do is read the Catechism on homosexuality. It says the goal is chastity. FS paragraph 31 mentions their “relationship matures”. That maturity in Catholicism is chastity, living as siblings if necessary should it be more hurtful to them to separate (one is caretaker to the other or they have a disabled child in their home).
The Catechism says they are to be treated with care. Would the church be abiding by its own teachings if it didn’t offer a blessing to help their “relationship mature” into chastity?
We have a lot of so called Catholics that are effectively Evangelical Protestants and Puritans.
No. If the goal was chastity, as properly stated in the catechism, the document would've admonished the existence of homosexual unions, the wages of sin is death, and emphasized the urgent need for confession because the unrepentant go to hell. To suggest living together as siblings for the homosexual orientated itself is not Catholic, as the willful exposure to the temptation of a sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance is contradictory to the law and design of God. It would've avoided the verbiage allowing the blessing of "couples", the functional synonym alternative to union.
So...how exactly is holding on to the faith handed down from the Christ and the apostles...protestant?

The sad part for me is that some of these Catholic leaders, who teach over and over again how reading a verse of scripture out of context leads to a misunderstanding, have no problem reading this one paragraph out of context from the rest of the document.

The C.C in Germany has changed the teaching of the church. It's hard hitting and in our face. Bryan Mercier you should realize this.
We do realize this, and that's why this document was made to tell them that they can't change the teachings and they can't keep going ahead with the practices that they want to go ahead with. I can't bless sin, can't marry people with SSA, and they can't even bless unions. This document was a condemnation of the German bishops.

The reason is because there is a schism starting in Germany. The bishops there are evil and want to change church teaching. They want to be able to marry gay people and blessed gay unions and relationships and change all the moral teachings of the church. So this document was written to say that they could not do that. Over and over and over, the document says we cannot bless sin, we cannot have blessings of gay marriage, or partnerships, or union's, or anything else of the sort. So the Church wanted to reach people of seeing sex attraction who are trying to live chaste, the right way. The church was saying NO to these bishops who want to change church teaching.
Hi, no malice intended. The church exist to evangelise (Pope Paul VI). Who are these folks referred to in the FS document? People who live in sinful relationships, right? So is the Holy Father so wrong to make an attempt to save some of them? I would rather have tried to save a friend or a family member than to abandon them. God bless !
No, it's not referring to people who live in sinful relationships. If you have read the document, and the preceding document, has referring to people who are spiritually destitute and wish to conform their lives to God's will and his commandments. The Pope and the documents have made it clear that it's not for those who are trying to justify their sin or who are living in sin. Watch our video, and you will see this brought out more than clear.

We have blessings for everyone and everything, including rocks, cars, animals, and so on. Also, we don't go by the Bible alone. That alone is a novelty and modernism. But the church has a long tradition of blessing people who want to live for God and have the strength to conform their lives to his will which is exactly what this document is calling for.

Idea of blessing homosexual couples was first promogated in protestant circles. Then this idea came to the most liberal and modernist parts of Catholic Church.
Right now you are standing together with German Episcopate, New ways Ministry, fr. James Martin, all the liberals progressives and all mass media who applaud this document.

I have taken this habit because I know that the media and several self-appointed Catholics love to spread confusing and hatred. Satan is working through them, sometimes even through some people of good will who are misled by others.

The morning this document was issued, I saw the headlines first. My heart stopped. Then I lowered my head in prayer, went and found the document, read it with an open heart, and walked away realizing once again I had been bamboozled by the media.
I’m grateful the Lord kept my eyes open to see the truth about FS. Thankfully, as you showed Brian, the further clarifications proved my initial reading of the document as correct.
Because the Church through the Pope CAN'T teach error (heresy/grave error) according to the Word of God. Those who oppose the official teachings of the Church/Pope sides with the devil. These people just lean on their own understanding and don't have enough faith and trust in God and in His Church.

The Pope is the successor of Peter, the foundation on which the Church was built. If the foundation of the Church (pope) would be led astray by teaching heresy, then, the Church would fall down as well. But it is impossible to happen accrdg to God's Word.

You cannot separate the Church from Its head (pope) and vice versa. They are inseparable. You cannot separate the Church from Its foundation (pope) because if you do, there is no more Church. The Church and the Pope are inseparable.

Instead of inserting, the word “couples”… it should’ve said “individuals”… Satan (the enemy) is the author of confusion. In no way the documents never should’ve said “couples.” it breaks my heart to see how so many good Catholics miss this.

The thing they forget about is when the priest blesses the congregation to end mass. How many of them have went to confession before mass?
If they're not in a state of grace they cross their arms for a blessing instead of receiving the Eucharist, and it's done individually.
The OP is referring to the general blessing over the congregation right at the end of mass, rather than those given through the receiving of the Eucharist.
We did not forget about it. Blessing the congregation isn’t the same as blessing a same sex union/couple. People in mortal sin can go to mass but just can’t receive communion.

Different blessings in different contexts. But everyone is called to follow God more perfectly who receive blessings even non-catholics.

Sorry but I've read the document several times and the document itself is terribly bad in itself: contains self contradictions, ambiguous language, introduces nothing but confusion. The document is absolutely indefensible due to its language. There's no hysteria at all. Enough is enough. I went to the sources and IT IS SO! The fact that it leads to the confusion is a very strong argument against it in itself. Sorry, there's no defending it. PS. Spoke to one priest defending it, as you unfortunately do, and he says something like: "If such couple comes to me for a blessing I give it to them, checking before if they are faithful to each other (!) and if there's a true love. It was needed to deal with the German bishops who want to have gay marriage. This document told them in no uncertain terms that they could not and cannot bless sin.

The whole point of the documents we discussed in this video was to crack down on the German bishops who want to homosexual couples, they want to bless sin, and they want full rights for people with same sex attraction. If these documents say no to all of those things saying that there is only one correctly ordered relationship and That is a man and woman in marriage that is open to children. It also says in the document that the church does not have the power to bless the unions of homosexual couples. It also says that blessings are only for those people who are trying to conform themselves to the way of life and are not living in disordered relationships. Try watching the video. I meant to ask this in the last video, but do you have any video's on The Book of Enoch? I have a Christian friend that all but swears by this book and thinks aliens are most likely angels and its why we have developed socially. When I listen to him it sounds almost like he's taken a page from Scientology. I've tried to do some research but I cannot find what the Catholic Church teaches on the book itself and why it is a part of the apocryphal books. The Catholic Answers website has some information on the Book of Enoch if you want to research there but bottom line is - it's not in the Bible because it's not considered the Inspired Word of God.

I read the Fiducia Supplicans even though it doesn't condone the blessing of a same sex couple even though it's a blessing over an individual in a same sex relationship. It's scandalous in which the Bishop or Priest giving the blessing over the individual knowingly can not give them the Eucharist during communion because if they do so it would be like giving the Eucharist to an individual in a cohabitation relationship out of wedlock or giving a divorced remarried individual who didn't have their prior marriage annulled by the Church.
And the wording if it resembles a marriage it's not permitted. Well let's say both men or women in the relationship are blessed together even as individuals it still resembles a marriage.

The blessing of a sinner is no different from when the priest blesses the laity at the end of mass, or when a layman approaches with their arms crossed to receive a blessing instead of receiving The Eucharist. The blessing of sinners is not commensurate to the blessing of sin. Not sure where in FS it says to give them the Eucharist. I think it's problematic that the document uses language like "union" for a SS romantic relationship. The Church created a union of my husband and me, at the altar. The Vatican equates (uses the same word) for our sacrament to their...sodomy? Just the use of word, nothing about the blessing. Tim Gordon reads FS with a legal eye, and sees through the pork and tricks of its aberrent author. I still dont see the point of the document, if its not to chip away at something sacred. The non-popesplainers arent denying that there is dubious language and intent all over this doc, its just that the bottom line is, its about gay "blessings." Not individual persons blessings.

Yes, I saw it and I understand your point of view. I also read the FS. All of us, as good Catholics, want to assume the best regarding the statements made in the documents of the Holy See. I respect the Pope as Leader of the Church but I find some things worthy of notice. I continue to think that the document could be clearer and more assertive in order to avoid dubious interpretations. It seems to address the issue of the German bishops making a pastoral concession, that is, a pragmatic one, which in the end does not please progressives or conservatives. Finally, I find it worrying that this type of issue arises in a context in which the Church, in the person of the Pope, seems to meet more and more with personalities and NGOs known for their modern ideologies regarding other expressions of human sexuality, climate change, global economy, youth association Marxists, etc. The Church can and must have a firm position on the doctrine of faith, not on issues of social and economic policy.

It's a sort of "don't ask, don't tell" policy like America had at one point for service members. Same-sex couples (married or unmarried) may be blessed, under certain conditions. The media largely got this one right. Moreover, Africans certainly know how to read. The document is a big deal!

What is a homosexual couple seeking by asking for a blessing?
What is the Church offering in response?
What is the Holy Spirit called for and what is exactly being blessed?
What is a spiritual purpose of such a ‘blessing’ and what sort of a particular help it intends to provide?
Love and acceptance can make miracles of soul transformation, and Pope Francis' vision on the same-sex unions seems to be about love and acceptance. Yet, the same-sex couple blessing would make sense if the Church dumps viewing the same-sex relationship per ser as a sin. Without that, such a 'blessing' appears conflicting and self-contradictory.
The entire issue of the homosexuality as such and the sin does not look straightforward at all.
For example, some people refer to Leviticus 20:13: "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them". Does this mean that about 4% of human population should be now "put to death"? Would it be a proclaimed Christian way of love and acceptance? Would it be compatible with the words of our Lord: "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast the First Stone" (John 8:7)?
Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 6:9,10 was talking specifically about "men who have sex with men" with the intention to just satisfy their lust, but said nothing about homosexuality as such.
The Holy Scripture condemns sexual lust in all its appearances - ‘traditional’ and ‘pervert’, but says nothing at all specifically about homosexuality and same sex people, who want to live together in love and faith.
Nevertheless, this unlikely defends the incompatibility of the same-sex couple blessing with the current Church doctrines and policies.

But the individual persons who want to seek a closer relationship with God, have the strength to follow him more faithfully and to conform their lives more completely to his, to the commandments, and the teaching of the church. Brian, thank you for all you do to defend the church. I agree that there is a lot of slander, lies, and bad faith that exists, but just because one side in a dispute get things wrong does not mean that the other side is without error. The key mistake was allowing individuals in a same sex couple to be blessed as individuals at the same time instead of separately. It comes down to optics. Since the church is a light to the world, including non-Catholics, we should be aware of how the world will obviously interpret this action. Most secular people do not distinguish between a same sex couple and same sex union. If some Catholics, including bishops, of good will are misinterpreting, are we really surprised that the average marginal faith person is also misinterpreting? What concerns me is that I am sure there are gay people out there, actively engaging in sin by their sexual behavior, who are struggling with a conviction of conscience. The priest that is giving quick blessings on the street is probably not probing the sexual status of the individuals in the couple he is blessing. As such, the struggling gay person could justify away their behavior by thinking that it cannot be that bad since other couples are being blessed together, even if the document does in fact condemn the sinful behavior. Many will not read the document but will judge the document by what they see in practice. While lies and slander increase confusion, so does this one change in blessing protocol that would obviously be misinterpreted in a way that leads people astray. Anyways, I am praying for the Pope, church, and all involved. God bless.
I agree that I think it would have been better if they continued to have people come up by themselves rather than together. I know the church has said that it's still the people themselves being blessed, but it would have saved a lot of confusion that's been going on.
Just remember that FS talks about avoiding confusion and scandal at least 5 times. If it’s likely that a bystander will make a big deal about the impression that a simple pastoral blessing gives, a priest is wise to bless them separately

Just say: Homosexuality is a sin, we cannot and will never bless it. You come as individuals ( remove the word "couple" totally from the document) so a priest can bless you like anyone else. None of this confusion would have happenned. Why make a confusing document in the first place?

Clearly, you didn't watch the video, or you wouldn't have made that comment about the couple. That's an old and outdated argument that didn't work back then and certainly doesn't work now with the official clarifications and public statements by Cardinal Fernandez and the Pope. The church has made it clear that the couple does not mean the relationship or the Union, but only the persons. Honestly, the church could not be clearer than the only reason why it's not is because people haven't listened or done the research.

I think you need to focus on the effects of what PF is doing inside the church that is creating more and more division, as is the case with the African continent and FS. Same thing can be said in regard to the modernist church saying OK to reception of Holy Communion while supporting abortion in practice, meaning not in a state of grace. Same thing in regard to remarriage without annulment and adultery. Same thing in regard to active lgbt and all forms of sexual deviancy. It makes no sense to speak of deficiencies within Protestant denominations when the Catholic Church is descending into heresy or worse. Protestants can see right through it.
It is creating division. Mostly because the news media formed everybody's narrative. And then protestants followed suit and mormons and Jehovah's witnesses all repeated the narrative, because that's what they want to be true. But what's really sad is that Catholics started following the narrative as well rather than doing their homework. As we can see from this video, of people understood the documents, half of what happened to claiming today they would never have claimed and they would be embarrassed to even say it out loud. Many will be held responsible for their pope hating and refusal to do research.
The Catholic Church isn't descending into heresy and cannot descend into heresy since it's guided by the Holy Spirit and protected by Christ (Mt. 16:19)

There are God's blessings that require repentance before the sinner can obtain those blessings.
There are blessings given by God to sinners that do not need repentance. The unrepentant can obtain those kinds of blessing from God with no need of repentance.

Jesus warned of wolves in sheep's clothing. He wasn't talking about people like Fr. Martin. He's a wolf in wolf's clothing. Nothing hidden about him. They look and act the part deceiving the flock and inside are ravenous wolves.
