Alien Resurrection is notable. It is one of the (if not the very) first game to implement what is now the standard dual stick control method for first person games. It was famously lambasted for this control scheme in the GameSpot review. That review is hilarious to read with the benefit of hindsight
@@gammaphonic yeah reviews back then didn't make much sense at all. I've been hearing a lot about Alien resurrection. It will definitely be talked about in the future on this channel!
3:50 I watched a video on how to improve one's gameplay skills in CTR, and one of them is to avoid the analog sticks and disable vibration. Steering judgment is perfected with the directional buttons, and vibration function actually hinders the player's handling and controls.
Also it’s a shame what happened to Ape Escape 2 on PS5 nowadays. I mean it’s not unplayable by any means but it’s quite glitchy at times and constant frame rate drops unfortunately. I do hope a patch fixing these issues will be sorted out someday. I highly doubt the third game will ever become available on modern system due to the metal gear solid mini-game that’s on it unless they somehow remove maybe? That might be the only way to get around that particular situation.
I’m really glad the original ape escape can be play on PS4 and PS5 nowadays. The game could’ve be played on PS3 since the disc wouldn’t read it properly for some reason and would always be stuck at the main menu too. I can’t remember what the reason was but it was very annoying overall I thought.
@BrennySpain interesting. I'm not too sure about that one. I beat it on PS3 years ago and captured footage for this video on PS3 and I didn't have any issues.
Alien Resurrection has the best dual shock controls on the entire platform. Game was well ahead of its time, you can tell by looking at IGNorants score.
I love Ape Escape! One of the best PlayStation exclusive games ever! The original was truly the most unique game at the time to say the least. Sadly the series has now faded into obscurity due to PlayStation’s bigger focus on cinematic based movie type games like god of war and horizon. But Astro Bot does give me some sort of hope the series could maybe come back someday. You just never know am I right?
Yeah, analogs are kinda weird but very nice. It's just so engraved in modern gaming, you don't even think about it much. But then there's CRASH 1 FOR PS1.
Another thing about Ape Escape: it features an insanely good soundtrack, especially now that old electronic genres are on the rise. Edit: damn also Quake 2, ost by Sonic Mayhem goes hard asf.
Mchine hunter was the first game to use them well i ever played. One stick controlled movement atound screen one controllered the bullet hell coming out of your character. Still see games foing similar controls now and then
I played both Silent Hill and C-12 Final Resistance and yeah they work way better with the dualshock control system. You should of mentioned Alien Resurrection the first game to actually use the modern dualshock control system and ironically was critsized badly for it
@@Bird-Birdy-Love I am hearing a lot about Alien Resurrection. I should have looked into that one! There's so many games on the console to talk about. I'll need to talk about that one in the future. Thanks for your feedback!
Very nice summary. I never even thought about playing Silent Hill with analog controls, I always use D-pad for tank controls.
@ryuStack Thank you! I just reviewed Silent Hill a few days ago, and yeah it feels nice using it. Plus the vibration function works well too :)

@BrennySpain Yeah I think you are right on that for sure. Today's times will never match the good Ole days.
Um Jammer Lammy is the FUCKING BEST I'm so happy to see this on the list...'been playing this since before the age of 10!

@theendofit I just checked that out. Looks a lot like Loaded. That's super cool that it does that. Thanks for sharing!
Why is driver not on this list?

Rainbow six rogue spear has pretty modern shooter dual stick controls. Rainbow six lone wolf does too but that game is terrible
We rented ape escapes back in the day….only to find out our controllers without dual shock wouldn’t work for the game! Sad days 🥹🥹
Funny you say that, I had the EXACT same thing happen to me :( that is enough to ruin your weekend.
