    Love those doors Frank, they'll stop the wind blowing the shed away! nice job.

      😁 Thanks Steve. The end is in sight. A bit hampered by the weather now. Still need to protect it and get some guttering on it 🤔. Thanks for watching 😁👍

    Great job on the doors Frank, they'll outlast the rest of the shed but you'll never regret how sturdy they are. Locks look strong but it's worth putting a couple of bolts through instead of nails on the hinges to stop anyone just unscrewing them to get in. Whole structure looking really sound now.

      😁 Thanks Ben. Security is not really an issue. We have some "very attentative" neighbours 👀, and I have far too much CCTV 🤣. But a bolt ot two wouldn't go amiss. I will need to modify the hinges though, they are cheap ones and don't allow for a coach bolt 🤨. Thanks for watching 😁👍

    It must be such a great feeling to stand back and look at what a huge and impressive build you've done singlehandedly Frank. Nearly there!

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  2 роки тому +1

      😁 Yep, I can stand back and admire it with my hands in my pockets....... and realise that my pockets are now very empty 🤣🤣🤣. But it could have been a lot more expensive if I hadn't used reclaimed material wherever I could. I am pleased with it but really need to get it finished before winter sets in 😁. Thanks for watching James 😁👍

    Hi Frank, that is a novel way to use those hinges, the end of the hinge is supposed to go on the outside of the door jam, not inside. Also, if you look at the hinge one of the holes is square, this is for a carriage bolt to add extra strength to the hinge, loved the re-use of the old timber, great thinking.

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  2 роки тому

      Hi John. I didn't have much choice how I mounted the hinges. They wouldn't sit securely enough on the log roll cladding and if you note how close the right hand door is to the window... it just wouldn't work. I really needed a more robust exterior door frame but didn't have the wood. The hinges I have dont allow for coach bolts (cheap ones from Wickes) so there is not a square hole. But I may modify them and fit bolts. The doors are off again now so I can treat them properly. Thanks for watching John 😁👍

    Outstanding! Coming to the end of my shed too and on to the door. Some of my cladding overlaps the door and I’m worried I cut it and it goes wrong. Only have a jigsaw and hand held circular saw and would like your advice on a straight cut

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  2 місяці тому

      😁 Hi Ricardo, obviously a bit tricky to give any advice as I haven't seen your build. But all I can say is never underestimate how good a good old hand saw can be and you can pick them up for very little money. You don't need to use power tools. A hand saw will allow you to control every stroke of the cut which will in turn minimise the chance of any big mistakes. It can always be sanded after to make it look nice 😁. Hope that helps, thanks for watching Ricardo 😁👍

    Nicely done. I can appreciate a man who admits when he made a mistake. My only concern is the lack of vertical studs in the walls! OMG what are they 72" on center? And no header whatsoever above the window? I'd go 16" on center, maybe 24" because it's a shed, but not what you have there.

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  6 місяців тому

      😁 Hi P, yep I agree totally. There should really be more verticals, yep there should be a header above the windows... but yep, its a shed. It wasn't built to any "traditional" building regs... because its a shed. It really only needs to keep the rain off my lawn mower 😆. However, it now has extensive partitioning and supports inside which create smaller and more ridged box sections. And additional bracing which double up as shelving. Its now well over a year old and there has been no movement / bowing / sagging / door misalignment or settling. In addition, half of it is for project wood storage and it is keeping that dry enough (averaging 16%) so I'm also happy with the venting and protection 😁. So overall its much more robust than any kit I could have brought for even twice the price.... and yes... my lawn mower has never complained 😆😆. Thanks for watching P 😁👍

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  2 роки тому

      😁 Thanks Jim, I'm pleased so far. I think I mentioned in one of the previous videos that the left hand will be partitioned off just for "good wood" storage so I can free up some space in the workshop. The rest is for real shed stuff 😁👍

    When cutting multiple half laps, it could have been quicker to use the track saw as you could cut multiple pieces laid next to each other at the same time? P.S. love your videos, light hearted and always an enjoyable watch, keep em coming

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  2 роки тому

      😁 Thanks Mathew, I have done the "multiple cuts" trick before with good results. But as you can see... space was limited and my mitre was already set up so that was the quickest option. Glad you enjoy the videos, I hope they are helpful and entertaining. Tell all your friends how awesome they are... I need all the views I can get 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for watching Mathew 😁👍
