That system could not reverse round a corner , the caravan was well over compensated in that corner, hence the forward and backward shunts. Just learn to tow before you go on a road. Can you imagine using this on a country lane with traffic waiting, hold on let me activate assist, shunt back forward back forward. !
We only uploaded it in October, but already our video testing Volkswagen's Trailer Assist is the second most watched video on our UA-cam channel! To find out why, click below.

Is there any chance you know the weight to this trailer/caravan? I've been trying to see how much a golf TDI can tow and that setup seems rather large and awesome. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!!
what would happen in a event of a accident would the insurance co say its programe error or blame the driver for not being in control.. good idea but takes skill away from drivers
Yep i say the same thing about electric start, and abs, especially electronic stability programs we should learn to pump the brakes and use pull starts with chokes. takes away from the driver.
The backing was rubbish because off the tester made some mistakes. Thought it was funny he kept turning his head too look. Guess he have now idea what does mirrors on the side of a car is ment for. Hid do terrible in an van. There are way better videos of this assistants out there. Guess most off us would be just as sceptic the first couple of times, until we got a hang of it.
What a waste of, well, everything! If a driver cannot reverse a trailer then having this is no use - they will have no concept of angles and will have no idea of how to position so the front of the car has room to manoeuvre. I can see all kinds of trouble - the front hitting other cars or obstacles. Here's an idea - why not LEARN and PRACTICE how to do this , it really is not hard at all!
Why did they take most of the video pointed a the driver? I'd want to see what the trailer was doing.
A complete fuck-up!
I'm impressed that little Golf is hauling a RV trailer (caravan)

I know Im kind of off topic but do anyone know a good place to stream new series online?
@Ronan Sullivan Flixportal =)
@King Camdyn thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it!
So how does it know if theres an object behind the trailer or on the side of it?
seems more difficult than to park manual
Try it with one of those really small and short trailers and film that...
Anything and any driver would have problems with that. A 40ft trailer is easier to reverse than a 4ft!
edward charles yes :)
🤣😂
3 years later any news about the new caravan parking system
Why don't most pick up trucks have this system?
I laugh because they show this on a golf, but in the states, they don't even allow towing of anything with the things.
That is the name of that caravan?

I don't want a car to drive me. I still want to drive the car. Guess I'm just a little old school.
3:14 "run out of course" ? does that mean it was going to hit something?
What engine on Golf?
just learn to drive

German Technik :)
Why would anyone need this? Surely you ought to know how to reverse with a trailer or caravan before towing one!!
