I’m a 64 year old man who’s first ASMR experience is going to a fabric shop with my Mother to get curtain material I would be about 6 years old. 58 years later…… Thank you so much for this, you will never know the memories it brought back.
Wow! What a heart warming comment, Graham I am so happy that the video brought back those memories for you, and I’m so happy you shared this story with me. Thank you. 🥹🧵🪡✂️
This is the most touching and special ASMR story I’ve ever heard. 🥹🥰 I LOVED going to the fabric store with my grandma when I was little… such tingles everywhere! 🤭🥰♥️♥️
Your story reminds me of my child hood going to the fabric store with Mom and digging my hands down into the old bathtub that was filled with buttons ! I'm so glad to have grown up in the 80s! and know what a fabric store even was and that i know how to sew. That was in Paradise CA which is all just a memory now but a good one
Whenever my mother would take me with her to JOANN Fabrics to get what she needed to make blankets or get yarn for her crocheting, I used to love watching the ladies cut the fabric and listen to them speak so softly. I always looked forward to that interaction--whether it was with us personally or watching other customers have their fabric measured and cut. It was like melting. It's the little things. 🤗
My Grandmother was a Seamstress in the 50s, 60s and 70s. She loved buying material her whole life. Her house was filled with fabric (we had to sell a lot when she passed but I have kept a few special ones to make into some items) and I have memories of being taken to fabric shops when she was looking after me as a child in the 90s. It was wonderful to see what her experience in one of her favourite places would have been like earlier in her life. Thank you :)
Thank you for sharing that story, Chloe. I have similar memories. My mother and my mamaw both worked in the local dress factory in the 1950s, and my mom would go on to make custom drapes for Sears. My mom had a lifelong love of sewing and always made me birthday and Christmas outfits of my choosing. I loved going to the fabric store with her, sitting down and flipping through the pattern catalogs, picking out just the right fabric. My mom would often stay up until two or three in the morning, happily seeing the night away. I miss her so much. 🥰🌺
I have lots of good memories of going to the fabric store with my mom when I was a kid. I would “get lost” in all the bolts of fabric and it was an immersion in color and texture. And I LOVED the special sound of the scissors cutting the fabric at the cutting table. Something about the sound of the metal scissors in that groove in the table.
The scissors against the cutting table!!! That is such an unusual sound but I love it as much as you do! That’s why I tried to get squeeze three “cutting episodes” in there. 😂 I wish I could go into an old fabric store and smell those old smells. These days the fabric is just in a section of a larger store like Walmart or Michael’s. Thanks for watching, Angela. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 💚💚
My favorite sound as well, JoAnn Fabrics cut fabrics that way, I am content to stand in line waiting for my turn while listening to the cuts being made.
Wow, thank you! That’s quite a compliment, and it definitely made me smile. But you’d laugh if you ever heard me talking IRL. 😂 Also . . . my 85 year old dad always laughs when he hears my soft spoken voice on these vids.
When I was a kid my Aunt Mary travelled to stay with us from the countryside so she could visit the sewing and craft show in town. She let me go with her and I remember her picking out material and being excited to try out different sewing machines. We stopped at a homemade chocolate fudge stall and she bought us some to share. I treasure these memories and this takes me back there. Thanks Sherri!
I recall my Mom and grandmother both taking me to the fabric store as a child. My grandmother had an old Singer pedal sewing machine. I loved watching her sew and work the wide pedal on that old machine. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.
Oh wow! My grandmother had a Singer treadle sewing machine as well. When I was about 10 or 11, she gave it to me, and my mom taught me how to sew on it. I’ve had it my whole life and only just recently gave it to an extended family member. I remember peddling away on that thing. ☺️☺️
I literally cannot stop watching this. Brings back so many memories. If you did a whole series of these, that would be amazing! Oh, yes, and when you say “charge card” instead of “credit card,” just brilliant! Thanks for your work!

In the 60's my Mom made my sister and I matching polyester dresses in pink and yellow for Easter sunday. Mom and Grandma had stacks and drawers full of polyester fabric for sewing cloths!!!😄
As someone born in the 90s I appreciate your ASMR a lot. I grew up hearing a lot about how things used to be especially as the digital era took off and seeing how interactions like retail transactions were done is interesting. The attention to detail of your acting and scripts, set designs, props all of it is incredibly thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your ASMR with us!!
I finally found an ASMR with this theme! It brought back so many childhood memories when I went to the fabric store with my mother and felt ASMR when they cut the fabric on the wooden table. Thank you for this video, it's perfect. greetings from Brazil 💜
I’m 69 and my mother was first a nurse, then became an English teacher, but was also a wonderful seamstress. I spent many hours in fabric stores with her as she looked through patterns and fabric. I can still recall the smell. This is a lost art. A bygone era.
Im so happy to see all the comments of the fond memories and early ASMR experiences in fabric shops!! I feel like i was wanting this kind of video and didnt even realize it ❤ thank you so much!
All of a sudden I’m 5 years old again looking at Halloween costumes in the pattern books at TG&Y while mom was browsing the fabric. Thank you so much for this one. I’ll take some Clove gum, a whistle pop and a pack of baseball cards when you’re done.
The plaid with the poppies would look so nice as a dress. I thought a shirt at first, but then I saw the pattern properly and thought "No, definitely dress." There's only one actual fabric store in my hometown. I remember going there with my mother once, and I don't really remember what for. I was very young. I heard it was still open, so I'm planning on going there when I can and check it out. My grandmother knew how to sew, but I never actually saw her doing it. She wasn't a professional seamstress, but my mother does tell me that when they were younger, my grandmother would make dresses for them on special occasions. They didn't have a lot of money, but would still look nice if my grandmother had a say in it. My mother only does mending jobs, so I'm the first one that actually uses a machine. I'm still very much a beginner, basically self taught through UA-cam tutorials. I made her curtains and cloth napkins.
What a lovely comment. I always love hearing stories like this. Both my mother and my grandmother sewed quite a bit. They both worked in a local dress factory in the late 1950s/early1960s, and my grandmother went on to work for Sears making custom drapes in the 70s and 80s. My mom made clothes for my brother and me as we were growing up and also as adults. She actually made my wedding dress, which was modeled on some pictures from 1917. She designed the pattern herself and sewed on 40,000 beads. That dress will always be a treasure to me because it reminds me of her. 🥰🥰 I’m glad to hear you’re gonna try to check out that old fabric store. 💚
my great grandmother was a seamstress. I spent my entire childhood with her rather than going to a daycare and these sounds bring so much nostalgia, peace, and comfort since her recent passing. thank you for this. 💕
All your amazing supplies, such attention to detail. You bring back so many memories from my childhood. You're out of this world detailed- oriented ❤❤❤❤
Out of this world detail-oriented? 😂😂😂 You hit the nail on the head, girl! I am indeed . . . to a fault, according to my family and friends. (Glad I can bring back some positive memories. 💚💚💚)
I love your videos! This one is extremely relaxing. I think of them as amazing performances you create, write, stage, record...I appreciate all the work. They also make me think of the nature of visual memory. I grew up in this era in a family where all the women sewed and things I don't think remember come flooding back when I see some of the props! I look back and wonder how they had the time to make their own clothes on top of everything else they did.
Yes, for me, nostalgia is about many senses-sounds, visuals, smells. I can’t do anything about how my videos smell 😂😂 but I love bringing sight and sound together.
My mom sewed a lot of my clothes in the 70s we'd go to TG&Y to get fabric. I always loved the sound of the ladies flipping the roll of fabric on the cutting counter and then the sound of the scissors cutting through the material. Great memories ❤
Another great one Sherri! The pattern & zipper packages & scissors sounds oh my!! My sister worked in the sewing department at a large department store back in the day. She made us both clothes she was a great seamstress. My favorite she made me was an aqua corduroy skirt & jacket. I got so many compliments on it. I was in the 10th grade. Thanks for taking me back to those happy memories. 😊
I had a corduroy skirt/jacket suit when I was around 14/15 years old (mid 1970s). Oh, the colour was just magnificent, a sort of steel denim blue colour. The jacket was a bomber jacket style with a midi length flared skirt. I haven’t thought of it for decades and you’ve given me such happy memories looking back. There was a bit of a sad end to the story though, as I seem to recall that the suit items weren’t washed together and they ended up very different colours - one being the original gorgeous steely blue and one being a very faded version of the original and no amount of subsequent laundering could bring the colours back together, I was heartbroken and being a sensitive stroppy teenager I refused to wear the suit again. Oh my poor mom, I fear I was a right pain in the backside over it, sorry mom!
Greetings from WV! This is like a walk down memory lane of my high school home economics class. Also makes me think of my grandmother who always worked on sewing projects for friends and family. Love the fabric cutting and the sound of the pencil makes me tingle! Thank you! ❤
That’s so great to hear, Miss Kitty. I absolutely loved my high school home economics class (although my mom had already taught me to sew by then). My grandmother actually made custom drapes for Sears in the 1970s. So sewing is in my family’s blood. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Did you see my other fabric store video, or my wedding dress video (that my mom made)?
I just love all the attention to detail in this video!! I don’t know what the red and white things are on the right hand side but I know I would have pestered my mum to buy me whatever it was when I was a kid 😂 Again , brilliant video as always ❤
Hey Charlette, it’s chewing gum-Clove and Beeman’s. Those flavors/brands were very very popular in the US in the 50s through early 70s (actually, even earlier). I loved Beeman’s as a kid. Thanks for time traveling with me! ☺️💚
This was suggested to me today and WOW the memories. My Mom loved sewing and made my Halloween costumes and my prom dress herself. Among many everyday things. This is WONDERFUL. Thank you!
Hey Sherri. I think I remember you saying that you have great memories of your mom regarding materials, sewing etc. Question: Do your own videos create nostalgia for you on a personal level? Do you enjoy watching your own videos?
What a thoughtful question, Rebecca! I do enjoy watching my own videos, although it does depend somewhat on the topic/set. The more nostalgic ones for me are definitely my purse and jewelry rummaging videos (which is why I love yours so much). I loved it when my mom would clean out her purse. The sounds were so comforting, and there were always great surprises in there-extra change she’d give me and my brother, a piece of gum, etc. My vanity video is also nostalgic for me. Oh, and anything remotely secretary-like. My mom had a desk job as an insurance underwriter and sometimes my brother and I would need to be there at work with her when school was out. Listening to her doing her job, talking on the phone, processing papers, typing, mumbling to herself. Oh the memories. 🥰🌼 Thank you for asking. ☺️☺️💚
@@MidModMeridianASMR That’s very cool! I’m glad to know that you get to enjoy the work of your own hands. Some artists can’t watch their own work without becoming self consciousness. And yours is so intricately crafted. To me, it’s one of the great rewards of making videos, listening back and enjoying, sailing back into time. I LOVE your newest purse rummage! It should have more views.
I know you originally started your channel just for yourself. I think that’s cool, too. You know what you like and what will bring back the best memories. ☺️ I hope you had a great Easter with your family. 🐰🐣 ✝️
Delightful, Sherri! I see in many of the comments how many good memories this brings back for your viewers, myself included. I grew up with a mom and a grandmother who sewed, so these sounds are all part of the "fabric" of my childhood. One of my favorite triggers is the sound of the scissors biting through the fabric on the cutting table! It's such a productive, industrious sound; and makes you wonder what the sewist plans to make with it. Do you sew yourself? If not, you had me convinced that you do, lol! I've often wondered if you sew many of your vintage outfits for the videos? The gum display is a hoot! Where did you ever find that?? Amazing prop! I also love the sound of writing on the paper roll board...the tinny sound of the board along with the scratching of the writing...chef's kiss! Hope you had a blessed Easter, Pam P.S. I was hoping you'd drag the adding machine out to total up the order, lol!
What is it about the sound of scissors cutting fabric along a cutting table. It’s not exactly a soft noise, but it is oh so satisfying. So reassuring. I don’t currently sew although I know how to. My mom taught me of course ☺️- on my grandmother’s treadle Singer sewing machine. I did eventually graduate to the electric machine. 😂 I used to make a lot of clothes but probably haven’t in 25 years now. I found the display rack on eBay (without the gum). I repurposed it for the gum and made a new sign for it. That was fun. I thought about pulling out the adding machine but the video was getting way too long. It crunches numbers so nicely, doesn’t it. I’m glad you liked this one so much, Pam. I really enjoyed reading your comment. Sherri 💚✨
@@MidModMeridianASMRoh please do add the adding machine next time! I used to play with an old one as a kid in the 90s. Luckily nowadays the mechanical keyboards are coming back! Albeit a bit expensive, but oh my it's such a satisfying sound. Someday I'll get my hands around one for my PC. Got caught in a tangent. Love your videos!
Dear Sherri, I just found your channel a few days ago and I'm in love🥰✨ I love 50's-70's culture and enjoy All the details🌷 Also you have such a beautiful voice and accent💞 Thank you so much for your amazing videos🙏💓
This is a wonderful comment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I’m glad my vibe works for you. I sure have a lot of fun making these videos. ☺️💚
Thank you so much for this. It brings back many childhood memories of being in the TG&Y fabric section with my mom. I battle anxiety/panic attacks/agoraphobia & this video is so relaxing & helpful. God bless you 🙏
The absolute most boring shopping experience with my mom was JoAnn Fabrics here in the burbs of CLEVELAND, Ohio when I was little. Oh, how I loathed it! 😂 I like your vids. Im just laughing at my miserable experience. Now im going to restart this and go to sleep. Love your voice!
😂😂😂 I think we all remember relentless, unremitting boredom as a child, fabric store or no. 😂 But I liked the fabric store because it meant I was gonna get new clothes.
Sherri, I love this video! I, too, am a child of the 50’s-60’s! Simpler slower times and represented so well in this video!!! New sub!!! Cindi (from WV)
The beeman's gum rack on the counter took me way back to childhood. Except it would have been Wrigleys here lol. Lovely video - your props are always amazing
Oh, thank you for this video. I am in my 70s and I miss so much the fabric stores of old. Before I knew about ASMR, I knew I loved spending time in fabric stores. I would just sit and look through the pattern books while soaking up the sounds that I know now were triggers. Also, thank you for doing what I call “read” ASMR. Many of the new posts are unpleasant and/or disturbing. Not sure how these people decided to glom on to ASMR.
Wait… you played Radiohead’s Paranoid Android and you also played Rachmaninoff’s 3rd??? Are you the best musician to have ever existed? I am in awe of you 🖤 No words, you’re something else.
When I first started my channel, I used things I already had around the house. I’ve been a long time collector of 1960s/MCM furniture and collectibles, mostly because those things remind me of my childhood. But since the channel has grown, I have definitely searched out many additional props from thrift stores, Etsy, eBay, antique stores, yard sales, estate sales. ✨✨✨
Sorry about that. It’s definitely all intentional here. There’s plenty of unintentional ASMR Videos on UA-cam now-Bob Ross, Smithsonian restoration videos, some crafting videos. You should be able to find a wealth of stuff. Thanks for stopping by! 💚💚
@@MidModMeridianASMR the intelligent brain reacts to subtle unintentional nuances in a much more less defensive way than something forced or acted.
I hope you had a great Easter with your family.
Dear Sherri, I just found your channel a few days ago and I'm in love🥰✨
I love 50's-70's culture and enjoy All the details🌷
Also you have such a beautiful voice and accent💞
Thank you so much for your amazing videos🙏💓
This is a wonderful comment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I’m glad my vibe works for you. I sure have a lot of fun making these videos. ☺️💚
Thank you so much for this. It brings back many childhood memories of being in the TG&Y fabric section with my mom. I battle anxiety/panic attacks/agoraphobia & this video is so relaxing & helpful. God bless you 🙏
This is now my favorite ASMR channel! Love your channel! From a Gen X'r who was born in 1967 and came of age in the 80's!
Wow, thank you! So glad you’re enjoying my channel. ✨✨✨
Wonderful video!! Thank you so much for your work…. I feel so cozy watching this to fall asleep 😴 ❤
Your monologue is just perfect
☺️☺️☺️💚
The absolute most boring shopping experience with my mom was JoAnn Fabrics here in the burbs of CLEVELAND, Ohio when I was little. Oh, how I loathed it! 😂 I like your vids. Im just laughing at my miserable experience. Now im going to restart this and go to sleep. Love your voice!
😂😂😂 I think we all remember relentless, unremitting boredom as a child, fabric store or no. 😂 But I liked the fabric store because it meant I was gonna get new clothes.
What a wonderfully warm voice😊
Congratulations on 5,000 subscribers! 😀🎉
Aww, thank you, Amy! ☺️☺️☺️💚
I enjoyed this more than any ASMR that I've seen lately.
Really? 🥰 I’d love to know why in particular, since it hasn’t done as well as some of my other videos. I’m really glad you liked it. 💚💚💚
@@MidModMeridianASMR Probably because of the pace. The pauses, the russling sounds. Very calming.
That’s very good to know. Thank you!!
I just found you, I love your style, execution, all of it. Well done. In a time where a lot of ASMR is contrived you're doing it well. Brava.
Wow, thank you for such a nice and encouraging comment. And welcome to the 60s! 👗💄🍸✨
Sherri, I love this video! I, too, am a child of the 50’s-60’s! Simpler slower times and represented so well in this video!!! New sub!!! Cindi (from WV)
Watching you fumble over that fabric was the best! You make my day ❤
I’ve not made it all the way through yet, despite two attempts…zzzzz…but this video is perfection. ❤
You can do it, Gwen! I have faith in you! 😂😂😂
The beeman's gum rack on the counter took me way back to childhood. Except it would have been Wrigleys here lol. Lovely video - your props are always amazing
Oh, my mom was a big Wrigley’s spearmint fan. Loved finding those loose, twisted sticks of gum in the bottom of her purse. ☺️☺️☺️
Love this video definitely worth a subscribe
Welcome to the 60s! ✨🦩🍸
Everyone is sharing their first asmr experience... Mine was at the book store with my great grandmother when I was about 10-12
I'll definitely do a book store soon. Have you seen my library video?
Zippers in packages! What a memory!
Oops - a typo. I meant “real,” not “read” ASMR videos.
Bellissimo e coinvolgente questo video ❤esperienza sublime 🌷🌷🌷🌷
💚💚💚🌷🌷🌷
Wait… you played Radiohead’s Paranoid Android and you also played Rachmaninoff’s 3rd??? Are you the best musician to have ever existed? I am in awe of you 🖤 No words, you’re something else.
🤔🤔
You are absolutely the best 🎉
Thank you, Linda. I’m glad you’re having fun hanging out with me. 💚💚💚
This is so well done that I have a hard time believing it isn't real.
fabulous Sherri x
Aww thanks, Kim. 💚💚💚
Hi 👋 no thank you I had a good Easter thank you did you? Happy Easter 🐣😀😀 thank you for your wonderful videos
Hi Mikey! Yes, I did!! 🐣🐰 And your welcome. 💚💚
This brought back some cool memories
☺️☺️☺️💚
Best channel
That is very very kind of you to say, Griffin. Thank you. ☺️💚✨
First time watching, won't be last!
Thank you! 💚💚💚
I love this video but its so real I'm thinking shes gonna have to go back for the thread she forgot to bag it
😂😂😂
anyone got information about her shirt’s pattern?
That looks really nice and solid.
What do you mean? The top I’m wearing or one of the patterns I’m handling?
🌺

“This ASMR video is brought to you in part by Jo-Ann Fabrics.”
She is like the Nanny from Muppet Babies ......You never see her face
😂😂
Where do you get the spot on retro props?! 📻📇🕰️
@@MidModMeridianASMR Wow, I was born in 1960! I remember that stuff...
Sound creepy.
😂😂
Intentional ASMR is more annoying than satisfying.
It's about letting your defenses down to something unexpected but naturally calming. Not "forcing" to relax to something that is obviously concocted. That is the secret. Hope you take advantage of this. From a Dentist/Psychologist. Cheers!
This video brings back memories of when I was a kid and I used to go to the fabric store with my mom. Although to be honest, I don't remember that we have found a saleswoman as kind and patient as you (everyone always seemed so rushed) 😅🧵
Haha!!! I actually used to work at a Jo-Ann’s fabric store in late high school/early college. I loved it. Loved cutting fabric so much. I also loved re-filing patterns that had been pulled out. 😂😂
@@MidModMeridianASMR those are lovely memories, now that i think about it i still fondly remember the scissors cutting the fabric ✂️🥹
