      Ah yes, good point Mark, but no fingers sliced in the making of this video, thankfully! Upgrade has made a massive difference though, it's so much faster.

    Great video! I'm a first timer in your channel. I like these low budget, pc upgrade videos. Best wishes from Panama 🇵🇦.

      Thanks Jose, I'm glad you are enjoying them. I've been lucky enough to visit Panama back in 2005 and I learnt to scuba dive while staying in Bocas Del Toro. Great times!

    Another option is adapting the dvd drive bay. That way you keep the existing HDD for storage. It also simplifies data transfer.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  Рік тому

      It's a great suggestion, thank you. Although in my case I couldn't use that bay because I specifically bought this machine because it had a DVD player and I've still got some CDs to rip!

    In which direction i should place fans for dell inspiron 3268 pc
    Which direction air should blow
    There are 2 fans
    1 cpu cooling fan and other on front down side of cpu.
    I am confused about the orientation.
    On google mix answers are coming. Please help.

      I don't know and one of the reasons I buy pre-built PCs rather than assemble one myself is so I don't need to work these things out. Good luck with finding an answer.

    this was a very good video - i have a Dell 3470 (similar layout) and am converting the HDD to a SSD (as well as upgrading the M2 SSD - both to 2TB)

      @@MostlyHelpful i had one issue with the 3470 when trying to upgrade the M2 to 2TB - the cloning worked perfect, however, the computer would not recognize the board - turns out that the motherboard only allows up to a 512GB M2 (i found that in the specs) - also the M2 board has 2 notches (and not one - not sure if that matters) - anyway i ordered a 512GB M2 (with 2 notches - in fact the board i am taking out and this board are both HyNix) and just received it - did another HyNix to HyNix clone and it worked perfectly - also replaced the 1TB HDD with a Crucial 2TB SSD (used Acronis for that clone since it came with it - and a similar Sabrent jig you showed) - now the whole system is SSD - i am very pleased

    Did this few months ago (upgraded from an Toshiba P300 1TB to a 870 EVO 500GB though) because of the 100% disk problem constantly happening

      Hi and thanks for watching. There is/was a bit of footage of me placing the mic up to the HDD to demonstrate this constant access issue, but it didn't make the edit. So much quieter now, although I will now look at ways to soften the noise of the fan as that is now the loudest part.

    Can we use both ssd and hdd together and I want to know if the vostro 3268 can use VGA, if so, which vga should I use?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  7 місяців тому

      Yes, you can add an additional graphics card but it needs to be a low profile card and it also needs to not have a large heatsink as there isn't a lot of space in there. I used a Nvidia GeForce 405 card in my 3250 machine for a while but actually the onboard graphics were faster/better.

    Can I use ssd and hdd together on pc 3268?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  7 місяців тому

      Looking inside my 3268 there's isn't room for an HDD and a 2.5" SSD in the case and there is only one SATA connection, so it seems you can only have one or the other. If you could somehow run the SSD via the PCI-E socket then you might be able to run both but it's not something I've ever done.
      I've recently upgraded to a 3470 which has a M.2 port on the board so with that you can run a M.2 SATA SSD (not NVMe) and then a regular HDD in the normal location.

    Great video James. Does the disk cloning mean that the o/s will transfer across to the SSD? I've been thinking about changing the HDD in my Dell Optiplex 3010 to SSD as it's running extremely slowly. Only thing putting me off was sorting out the o/s as i've had it that long I have no idea where the licence key etc is.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Derek, thanks for watching the video. Yes, the version of Acronis that I downloaded did an exact copy of the internal hard drive including the OS, which is Windows 10 in my case. I was quite surprised it worked like that I'll be honest as Windows was running at the time. In years gone by you used to have to run Acronis as a boot disk so that the native OS wasn't running in order for it to copy everything over, but it seems like they've solved that here and I didn't need to put the licence key in or even enter my login credentials, it was all just there. Definitely you should do it if you can as the upgrade has made a real difference as my Vostro is now both faster and much quieter. Good luck!

    Can we put the both disks into the vostro with others cable ?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  2 роки тому

      Hi there, thanks for your question. There is enough space for 2 x SSD and there is a spare SATA socket on the board, so yes you can use two disks. You will need a Y power cable though as there is only SATA power socket. Good luck with the upgrade!

    What GPU are you using? Im using Dell Vostro 3888 and I'm wondering if there is a way to install rx 570 into my case?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for watching my video. I'm using a GeForce 405 which is old, but has passive cooling and gives me a Displayport output which is what I need. You can't use an RX570 unless it's available in a low profile format. Even then you need to check its thickness as there isn't a lot of room. Good luck!

      Hi Minh, thanks for your messages on my videos. I've done some quick research and both the i3 6100 and i7 6700 are "Skylake" 100 series processors and both physically fit the LGA 1151 socket on the motherboard of your Dell 3250. Therefore it should work fine.

    how to move the new window to SSD?

    • @MostlyHelpful

      That version may be tied to Kingston SSD but there are lots of disk cloning programs out there. I definitely used Acronis though and my SSD wasn't a Kingston.
