    Love that I found this channel! I want to have a small tank of sea monkeys and so many videos out there are of hatching thousands of brine shrimp at a time to then feed them as babies. Wanted more like this. Growing a tank that has adults and repopulates itself as those adults have babies. Thankyou for this channel!

    Good video. I hit the subscribe “button”.
    I have a 2-1/2 gallon cookie jar that l use for my sea monkeys. I don’t aerate the water or feed them. I do keep the jar in front of a window, with the lid off, so there is lots of algae growing and the water is a bit green but my sea monkeys seem happy. Had them in that jar for two years now. Fun little hobby 🙂

    I have a standard ocean zoo tank, I usually feed my sea monkeys with some mixed feed every three days as recommended by the instructions. I last fed them last night (1 tiny official sea monkey small end scoop mixed with a tiny amount of tank water) the water is crystal clear by 8am, there's quite a few adults in there (about 10) and I noted there's a couple of males dead on the bottom of the tank. No idea if the third male killed them or if they were starving, their guts appeared crystal clear when I discovered them, some of the smaller ones (around 5mm) appear white. Should I be feeding them more often?

    • @SeaMonkeyDudeJon
      @SeaMonkeyDudeJon  Рік тому +1

      The gut line on the adults is a good indicator of they are getting enough food. Hold back if the water gets cloudy.

    How can I clean my seminary sea monkey bowl without starting over the tank, it has particles of food. Can it clear in it's own when sea monkeys grow and eat it?

    • @meikahidenori
      @meikahidenori 10 місяців тому +1

      It will feed alge growth which is good for your tank! The adult sea monkeys love to graze on it inbetween feedings which is great, but babies still need powered (thoughly mixed into the water) or liquid alge/spirilina as they're too tiny to scrape alge off the floor and walls of the tank.

    I have watched a few of your video's in an attempt to mature my monkey's. Right now I am at my longest spell. I have 6 or so at two weeks. I started hatching them years ago for baby Seahorse food. Then I tried to mature them for the older ponies. No luck. Now I feed the babies to baby Betta and want to mature them for Adult Betta. No luck. I will keep watching your video's. All that is completely un-related to my question. I have been feeding my adult Betta baby brine shrimp just for fun. Today I was cleaning out the tank (100%) and siphoned an (all-be-it dead) adult Mysis. PLENTY of places to hide and a five gallon tank. How is it possible that a Mysis can grow to maturity in a fresh water tank?

    My problem is, they hatch, I wait a week to feed them and the next day they are dead. I have tried giving them a full scoop for their first feeding, dead. I then gave them half a scoop on the second attempt, dead. I have given a quarter scoop on third attempt, dead. Every attempt, they die after the first feeding. I'm like 50 bucks in the hole on eggs......I finally gave up.

    • @meikahidenori
      @meikahidenori 10 місяців тому

      Don't wait a week. They develop a stomach within 24 hours of hatching. Depending on how many hatch will also affect how much or little you feed them. A good suggestion is to grow a seperate alge culture in a jar or container and squirt some of it in with a pippet for the first feed. If you are using the Aqua Dragon brand be sure to feed the full little scoop as there's WAY more eggs in those than in the sea monkeys and they can die off super fast if you're not careful because they go hungry. If your using dried power mix it into the water really well so it breaks up into tiny particles, otherwise they cant eat them being filter feeders. If you're still struggling despite this or this wonderful hobbiest advice on this channel, Pictocosmos ie: Artimadaddy has some great tutorials online and infact he does the official instructional videos for Seamonkeys here on youtube.

    I just started a small 3 litre aquarium, not going full ham like you and they are also just brine shrimp not actual seamonkeys. I do really like the idea of mixing the food with water first to fully dissolve it and then distribute it through the tank. This should help the babies eat more easily. Hopefully the tank goes well, if so who knows I may even start a larger one! (I cant compete with you though.... 150 packets!!! insane!)
