i actually met the founder today, christine, at a fireside chat. they started the business with 25k from each of their savings, and did some consulting for other beauty companies to funnel the cash into glow recipe. she reflected that not taking in outside investment at first was the right move for them. to this day they only accepted 1 investor, 6 years ago. now their company is worth 500 million.
exactly- at this time they look like every other drugstore brand. when they first showed the products it reminded me of freedmans. with the unique bottling and baby pink aesthietic it jumps out. it has more of an elevated look. they know how to sell.

I agree, 99% of products in Sephora/ulta/drugstore are not actually good in my opinion, I only use specialty skincare off dermatology websites and actual natural ingredients like aloe vera. This is mainly an aesthetic product

I wish they hadn't pivoted from curation (where I was a loyal customer) to their own product line (which I hate) but at this point I'd wager there are a lot more people who know Glow Recipe because they care about kbeauty than because they care about Shark Tank.
