- The annual Swiss Air Force live fire event at the Axalp-Ebenfluh air force shooting range, in the canton of Bern. The main event was canceled because of bad weather on the shooting range. This was filmed on monday (trainingday) and tuesday at Meiringen militärflugplatz.
I want to thank the Swiss Air Force for fantastic flying even on trainingday. I love your country and will return to Axalp next year.

I don't like the excessive editing at all, because of the stupid "epic" soundtrack, unnecessary slo-mos and way too many cuts. This moron ruined the footage!

Wirklich ein super Video. Die Aufnahmen müssen wohl vom Training sein da leider beide Flugtage abgesagt wurden. Schade, vielleicht nächstes Jahr wieder.

@@homeboy9803 4 Swiss F18's we're lost in crashes. As far as I'm concerned, no F16, F15 or F22 were seen in the Swiss skies for a long time except for airshows ( F22 never came). So why would you talk about the air force.

You managed to bring together three of my passions in one video, landscapes, aviation and even birds by including some beautiful shots of the Red Kite.
I love the long takes and your ability to zoom both in and out and back in again all while following a fast moving target in difficult lighting conditions, very impressive. Music and editing are all top notch as is the way you use slow motion, the sequence with the F-18 releasing flares while doing a role is spot on, you captured its movements being at the edge of controlled flight.

I wish these pilots were provided with an f35 Jsf or an F22 raptor-because they are creating wonders in the skies with their not extraordinary fighter jets.
F18 is way more maneuverable than a F35

I am at a loss for words, I have been an avid aviation buff for 29 years and a aircraft photographer for over 5 years and what I just watched is by far the best on the web. I have a few Lionel Charlet films in my collection but doesnt compare to seeing in 50fps plus I live in Phoenix and never get to see that kind of scenery, well done Jesper you outdone yourself on this one

The Swiss military and Switzerland in general is rich enough to upgrade! Retire these aging F-18s and upgrade to the F18F Super Hornets! Little to no extra tarining necessary plus Swiss pilots are already familiar with the aircraft and its weapons platform. Respect from Canada.

Very good Composition and Video. The Freq painted on the drop tanks of the 18's peaked my curiosity. In the U.S. that's emergency/Mayday freq.
A fantastic short film. You did very well to capture so much footage from just the 1 day of flying on the range and it has been edited superbly. It was just a shame that the weather conditions meant that the Airshow was cancelled. Did you film in 4k and edit in HD, as the quality is very high? Thank you for sharing.
+collyersam Thank you! No i did not film in 4k on this one. Its a killer in post production. If you film in 1080p/50fps and use codec XAVC, the quality is good enough for most end products. For the moment anyway. I quess everybody will film in 4K in a year or so. Thanks for asking :) All the best.

Nearly too bad that the Swiss Air Force is not operating SU fighters (a cobra manoeuver would nicely fit in front of this mountain range).
The cobra maneuver is useless in combat, though...I'm not a fan of the F-18, either...The swiss would be far better off with Eurofighters, Rafales, Gripens, F-15s, or F-16s
Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin the F/A 18 is better for switzerland because its a navy plane wich means it is more resilient especially in the harsh mountain weather condition

Great video !! I normally dont care for music when watching something like this, preferring to hear the machine work.... but this is put together so that the music takes nothing from the sound of the aircraft and adds greatly to the pacing of the video ! Very well done thank you for your time and effort, camera work is top notch. Great showing of the F5 squirting the 20mm which is what I was hoping for !!

Now since I'm a hobby filmmaker too and my heart is beating for the art of flying, may i ask what kind of equipmet you used for this beautiful video at axalp? What kind of optical zoom did you have and how did you film those slow-motion scenes at meiringen with the Super Pumas?
@0:59 In North America if someone sees a Red Cross on a Helicopter they'd confuse it as an Air Ambulance. You'd be surprise how many hospitals/medics have a White Cross on a red background.

This is a breathtaking presentation of the fantastic Swiss mountains in combination with the Swiss Air Force, or the other way around :-). I hope in October 2016 the weather will better for more great shots.
