What did you think of The Boys Season 4 Episode 4? Let me know your thoughts below!
It was pretty wild though I'm mainly wondering if Project Odessa was the codename for cultivating Homelander in the lab or another secret Homelander clone was created as a contingency
Season 4 back on track
I think they just showed us Butcher has a "Venom" style parasite.
You're the only breakdown that says it was hughies mum, not that she's a hallucination. Now I don't feel crazy, thank you 🙏
Could u do some videos on the new season of “Evil” if you’ve ever watched it !!?? I’d love ur take on the show‼️‼️
Only halfway through the season, and I am somewhat traumatized. Homelander is redefining the meaning of a supervillain.
Every episode it's just getting darker and darker
Homelander is a straight up psychopath, more importantly a well written one. Hes very meticulous on how he wants his revenge to be served. I love how the writers add little details about him. Like the fact that Homelander notice everyone was scared of him except the female scientist, so he gave her something to be scared of for the rest of her life.
I think Homelander torturing people is way more disturbing than the actual gore or killing in the show. I was fine with the lobotomy but the wanking and burning scenes were tense😂
@@youngog9150that granny experience what homelander experience on that room. The bad room
Villain? But he's a hero!
I think what would be a perfect fit ending to homelander is that Billy somehow takes his powers away and leaves him alive as a normal human being. The reaction to him losing his power would be awesome to see.
That would be absolutely diabolical!
Yea cuz butcher is gonna leave him alive after that lol your crazy if you think that
@@zzirfamo24i don't think he'd leave him alive.
But i could see it happening. It would be worse then death
Nah, it was perfect in the comic.
Him becoming irrelevant and dying off screen without even being acknowledged as an object of vengeance was an ultimate insult to injury to someone who is obsessed with being in the spotlight.
What you described actually happened in American Psycho and it worked out there brilliantly.
Then he goes to prison and drops the soap 😆
I think episode 4 really tied together the theme of the first three episodes and what seems to be the season as a whole That theme being the past coming back to haunt you. From Hughie, A Train, Frenchie, Butcher, Homlander, Annie amd so on.
100%!
Everyone’s business is getting aired out! 😂
That’s because of this stupid release schedule, that’s a clear example why Amazon should bring out the whole season at once
What’s more, it’s about how you answer for the past when you finally have no one to blame. Everyone last season wrestled with the cyclical generational trauma personified by Soldier Boy, a highly abusive relic of a bygone era. But in choosing to be free from this influence and be better, they now have to answer for some of the toxic things the characters did themselves. Starlight is quick to say “my mom taught me to be ruthless” but Firecracker dismisses that by asking “what did YOU say” when discussing what happened at a pageant when both women were 13.
A retconned, made up past?
He didint kill Barbara because he wanted her to die the worst way possible: slowly, daily, losing her sanity in that room.
Yeah but Vought will eventually save her- she'll probably lose her mind before that though
@@dazedandconfused5711 she has 3 days to be rescued, and that's me being optimistic she'd last that long.
@@kidprince8578Why 3 days?
@@OfficialDenzy it's the most a human can last without water, pretty sure Homelander didn't leave a bottle with her.
She could, of course, start drinking the blood of people in that room, but that would only make her even more insane at the end.
@@kidprince8578 or she could just use a phone or something to call people for help lol.
Sister Sage only being able to do Deep after lobotomising herself is the cherry on the top of this episode.
She isn’t able to sleep with anyone when she’s normal lol cuz her ego
@@zzirfamo24not ego she’s just too smart that she can’t find the fun in anything it’s why she lobotomies herself because all her intelligence does is stress her out and she never has a chance to destress
@@lesliethomas9532 i was already kinda digging her character and to see that shes so smart that shes miserable and that she lobotomizes herself just to feel normal is legit tragic
@@jlogan2228 right u can definitely see where her attitude comes from hate it for her. But I wanna see more of the lobotomies sage. I think it’s really clever how they found a way to make her the fun one
Also, the dark marks on the door of the "Bad Room" suggest he made her watch him rip everyone in there before making sure she couldn't escape
They probably tried it on john in this room in the first place (alone, without food and water). now it has to happen to barbara.
Imagine that though, being stuck in that quiet room with your brutalised colleagues for days until Vought finally saves you. (If they even do). Would be a trauma inducing experience
@@dazedandconfused5711Dude Vought isn’t gonna save them lmfao😂 homelander literally runs it now. Did you even watch the show???
@@n0bleonline222that makes sense. I was waiting for homelander to explain it. Every scientist got what they gave to homelander as a kid.
@@n0bleonline222 she does have food tho
Definitely one of the best episode in the series, this was just art in itself.
Homelanders scenes were just perfection!
@@BrainPilot They were on the acting side of it but whoever wrote that was messsed up😂
I thought it interesting you thought the scene where Hughie killed was reminiscent of when he was with Robyn. For me, I thought it was a call back to the first time he killed - fighting Translucent. Blood splattered, and poster in back ground but looking shocked and dazed, whereas this time round, grim, tightened jaw and more of an aggressive stare, to show how he had hardened as a person.
Something that stood out to me was how despite the state of the "bad room" at the end... There wasn't a single drop of blood on Barbra and despite her complete desensitization to the situation before, she is completely rattled at the end. You're not achieving that by instantly deleting a room full of people, no. Homelander really took his time with this one and that's terrifying because his mo is usually rage filled temper tantrums. I think this is the start of a whole new Homelander we havent seen before.
Idk i could be reaching i guess haha i would have loved if the ice cream cake wasn't melted by the time barbra arrives because it would have had so much more meaning seeing it completely melted at the end.
When Homelander told her too go in the room you could see she was worried
Nah I love your take on it. I can’t wait to see more of this new homelander
Nah mate *says in butcher* you might be spot on
Love or hate the first 3 episodes, but this one was a truly fucking diabolical masterpiece.
This one was incredible!
I didn’t hate the first 3 but I was def underwhelmed, they have def redeemed themselves with this one. I can’t wait to see how they’ll connect gen v characters to this, they created a great universe and last week I really thought they were going to ruin it with a filler season
@@MY-cv2xry'know right not every episode needs to be a big bomb but some need to setup the story right?
Without the first 3 this episode wouldn't be so impactful, calm before the storm.
Meh, other than the homelander part which are totally amazing, the rest is either just more setup or more lazy writing, although at least not as bad as the first 3, hopefully next episode good things will finally happen
Real it saves the show again for me 😂
Never has delivering a cake been so terrifying hahahaha go on Homie give them lab nerds revenge on a dish served cold.
Bruh I don’t even know if you’re trolling…
@@SaranKRS neither do I to be fair, I just say things and kinda hope for the best.
Lmao! @@lobodesade6780
@@SaranKRSit's kind of ironic though you're looking at it from a perspective of everything homelander does is sick and bad but the people in that lab are just as sadistic as him
Yeah it was awesome, Homelander is definitely the real hero
I thought last week's Vaught on Ice was my limit on Ultra Stomach turning cringe, but Dr Deeps lobotomy of Sage showed the dial could be turned up to 11😂
i think firecracker deliberately didnt fight back as a way to manipulate the story
That's exactly what it was.
she didn’t fight back because she’s just flat out weak, she couldn’t even properly fight kimiko and literally ran away 😭
she also like couldnt lol weak af
@@ryand.4503 I'm not saying she wouldn't get her shit rocked, I agree with you. but the way it played out with her not resisting and not even trying to run at all (like she did with kimiko) just struck me as her recognising the potential in this moment even if she didn't expect it at first
@@ryand.4503being weak is one thing but self defending is other. She didn't even try to fight back to defend herself because she knew there were cameras recording her it was proving her point.
Antony Starr deserves an Emmy for this episode. He has been terrifying from episode 1 & now we know what truly makes him a psychopath. I love the theme they're going with of "the past comes back to haunt you".
I like to think Barbra saying HL could've killed everyone and left is what led to all the present day scientists getting murdered. He went there wanting to take revenge on everyone who personally wronged him. But then she says you could have killed everyone back then and left, and now he did just that in the present. Its almost him refuting her assertion that his need for validation was paramount by showing her he'd do exactly what she said he would never do because of his conditioning.
6:13
Butcher's pretty complicated, he mostly hates Supes not because they're Supes, but because they abuse their powers eggregiously and a lot of innocent people get hurt in the process.
Remember, even in the comics, despite him hating Supes there as well, he was always on Compound V, so he was essentially always a Supe in the comics.
They have also killed innocent people
Homelander leaves her alive to suffer in the room, alone. He sealed her in there, its reasonable to assume from the early dialog he killed everyone at that complex, meaning its possible nobody else knows she's in there or where to find her....she's as good as dead.
No ones talking about how the show is far less gorey, more tame and how they cut away from gore now
The only thing I am disappointed about is they didn’t show what homelander did to them because it could’ve have shown homelander true power
well, the human imagination is greater than what is shown or something like that
@@sierralovat5498 yeah but we saw that in the end of season 2 already so I would’ve liked to see it this time
@@enz0380 makes sense
That's basically a horror in itself I believe. They just left it to our own imagination.
Showing gruesome death is not good for u.
I personally think this tops herogasm from last season, some may disagree but I loved this episode so much
Herogasm was oversold and not even as shocking as some of the things we had already seen up till that point.
Is way better herogasm was incredibly mid the only good thing is the fight between HL, Butcher and SB…
@@HappyKoufaxyou're better off watching mcu
@@HappyKoufax I’m smoking enough I think, Im sorry me enjoying this show offends you, hope you manage to overcome your little man syndrome❤️
@@fevet12 Ironically, they thing the mSHEu is too "woke" as well. I think they should enjoy their Mr Birchum in peace.
Here is my guess about Butcher. He has a Parasite that was created by the Temp V. It is controlling him by appearing as Becca. the Parasite doesn't want Butcher instead it wants Ryan. The V is needed to strengthen the Parasite.
Interesting theory. He is definitely being manipulated by a parasite, there is no "Becca". The parasite will definitely jump to a stronger host.
Homelander locked her inside that room, decorated with her fellow employees do die after days of mental turter.
He didn't scare her physicly, but broke her mentaly just like she tried to break him.
She dies?
@@SouthBayLA1310 Well, yes and no. It's kinda Schroedinger. She is left in a locked cell. Until someone goes there to open it we don't know for sure.
But if one is left in a cell like that for an extended period of time with no food and water, you sure will suffercate one way or another.
this season really has been incredible with character work, more specifically with the idea of our flawed favs being even more flawed than we thought
Butcher is Moon Knight now
Very true
it looks like homelander welded the door shut so i don’t think she’s coming out alive
I like that the mentioned birth of Homelander, was the death in the comics where the Supe baby killed the mother, and was firing lasers everywhere.
The version of beca he sees could be the parasite
Interesting that’s why becca tells billy not to give up on living 🧐
That's exactly what I thought too! 😮 The parasite took control of his body when he blacked out in the trailer. That's why "Becca" didn't answer his question about what happened when he blacked out.
"Use it or lose it" was crazy
It sure was
I am honestly so confused why this season gets so much hate.
Magats. They get triggered easily.
Because of those daft right wingers, they can’t stand being made fun of
@@sic.-yr2ddhe was not rewritten people just wasn’t paying attention to his character and got mad when they FINALLY realized he was bi
bc half the show is very compelling and interesting, and the other half is hamfisted political jabs. Its like we get it you hate trump and the maga crowd could you dial it back from cartoonish to actually interesting
Bc people could not realize that the show has been mocking them since the very beginning and it took them 4 god damn seasons to get after it was literally spelled out. And yeah ofc they didn’t like being made fun of
cant wait for that Dark Matter vid so many bangers your gonna be cooking vids daily🐐
Next Wednesday!
What was Homelader doing with all those Compound Vs and why were some missing?
Maybe supes lose their powers when they're getting older so Homie just used the V for himself
Probably so they can't make new hero's?
@@jackislegitterrified3689
Didn’t the head plop woman used it for her daughter that would explain the missing Compound V
@@iamadamg Homelander gave it to her.
He and and he alone made her a supe.
im curious if Butcher is some kind of venom of this universe
Homelander can numb the human side in need of approval though…Cade already did it to Sam
It was a tiny bit of a shock to me when I first watched that the worm burrowing Into Butchers body that's slowly killing him as the months go by wasn't only from the after effect of the Temp V from S3, but also the Compound V Butcher took while Frenchie wasn't looking.
Damn, no wonder he can barely standIn the morning and Is hallcuinating Joe and Becca.
What an episode butcher is definitely some sort of monster or something that when feels threatened it comes out to help him like what an insane twist that he took V off screen and Anthony starr never disappoints as Homelander he had you on the edge of your seat knowing he was gonna kill anyone in that room in a matter of time 😩
Season 4 is building up great I feel like all characters are getting plot points and no none needed characters are on tv right now
What made it more true that Hughie meant that the slate was wiped clean with A-Train and he forgave him was how he admitted A-Train was right that Hughie really wasn't going to call them square like in their deal but changed his mind in that moment.
And thought Butcher insults him for this choice to forgive A-Train he didn't go hard on him when Hughie says he didn't want to spend his life hating someone I think caust Butcher realizes Hughie doesn't want to be like he is with Homelander.
huh
Wild to me that lab never thought of something like what would happen if Homelander ever came back
Stormtrooper security stuff eh
That scream Ezekiel made before dying was soo terrifying. Only god knows what he saw before dying at the hands of butcher
What an epic scenario would be to Hughie's father gaining some epic superpower which will eventually take down Homelander.
That would be cool!
In the trailer for season 4 you can see a guy shuffling in a hospital gown so hope he can tank total brain death
Butcher is going to take down Homelander.
Compound V is rewriting his genetic makeup. That's my two cents
Interesting theory!
That last shot of Homelander!! Pure maniac
One of the best in the entire series
I loved that they showed the 80s concept art for Homelander/John’s suit and How his Hair looked. That 80s Mullet looked super cool! I like the Red and Gold suit too, Makes sense why they didn’t give him Soldier Boy’s colors or his Moniker. Also, ALL OF THEM GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED! They only respect Homelander now because he’s a Threat. Hell I would’ve done way Worse than John. This is one of the Few times I wholeheartedly supported Homelander, The earth was made better in this Episode.
Homelander is almost done shedding his Skin, This Episode put him back on top of the Food Chain and reminded us that He really can do whatever the f*ck he wants. He’s true power.
The 80s yellowish suit looked like a rift off Sentry
@@TrentonSmith-vd9wf How? Sentry’s suit didn’t have any red colors
@@TrentonSmith-vd9wf Nvm, I understand what you mean! That Long Blonde Hair and Gold coloring with the Blue Boots and Gauntlets really does look like Sentry.
@@therealmr.incredible3179Yeah and I think Anthony star would’ve played a decent to great sentry knowing he has a mental illness an all and almost Superman like.
Did you not hear what Barbara told him?
He could have left any time he wanted. He's a child in a gods body. Desperately yearning for mommy's love. Out of everyone in The Boys this is the guy you support? The childish homicidal manic????
Feels like we missed a season between 3 and 4, because character interactions changed so much they don't even feel like themselves. The whole thing feel off
I think I’m the only one who didn’t feel sorry for homelander but terrified not knowing at what moment he would strike.
You know what i think would have made it better? If it was revealed, actually, that one of the scientists DID apologize to Homelander years ago. And then Homelander remembers this and spares them in the basement scene. Would actually make it so that Homelander, while still psychotic, does actually have a sense of reason and is not just pure evil. This would have been a nice touch imo.
Yes! This was such a good episode! and i love Gen V too
either Colin is the least meticulous man in the world or Frenchie never took his socks off everyt time they slept together...
was praying for starlight to finish off firecracker and then MM came in
I'm thinking we're getting that in the season finale
@@BrainPilot can't wait
Gotta wonder why Homelander didn't see those worms in Butchers body
If the worm stays still, it just looks like a mass, so he would one just thought of it as a tumor. Knowing homelander was there was worm just didn’t move
Disappointed in how weak firecracker is. Unless she took the beating on purpose and is still hiding her true strength
Nah I genuinely think she's that weak!
I think butcher already had some kind of intestinal parasite that they’ll explain away and the parasite got the powers. The parasite is keeping him alive because butcher is the host.
Excellent review homelander is getting more unhinged in each episode i love it i believe the theory is that the worm in bytchers head is the boys take on venom. Also annie ASK BUTCHER FOR ASSITANCE
is kimiko immortal? she was split in half but able to recover again
the shape of the compund v in homelanders drawer spell the letters "OMJ" in braille, any idea what it means?
oh my John, that being his name and hammering his transcending humanity in this episode
I like these "explanations". I was lost on as to why John, I mean Homelander lasered the bunch. 😊 I love this show! ❤❤❤ Even I got stressed when he entered the lab.
I don't need this episode explained because there is nothing you can miss it
Just explain to me what's up with butcher does he have powers again is it a parasite like venom in his head communicating with him in form of becca?
Antony Starr did his role PERFECTLY, no one else could have done it better.
100% agree! I can't wait to see what he does after Homelander
I can't even say how tensed and afraid I was from Homelander in ep4. I never imagined someone on screen could have such an affect on me.
Great scenes. I do think that everyone having a past they needed to overcome was a lot for one episode,
Here has been the episode that has reached a level of madness and almost become twisted to that level, which I had not felt when it was the Herogasm episode. And when were the Marvel episodes. Since it seemed like a moment that was to discover more of the intention and the best that has revealed how terrifying Homelander and his story are! HERE ANTHONY HAS KILLED HIM LIKE HOMELANDER. GIVE HIM THE EMMY NOW!!!👏👏
almost ClockWork Orange...
better watch this.
Butcher as a sup was dope no flight but he had laser eyes and super strength invulnerably , he was was chunkin em with homelander!!!!
This was the only time that I felt genuine fear whilst watching a supervillain. He went Jigsaw on the oven guy
Frankly, given what he went through, its no surprise that Homelander is a psycho. In fact, the bigger surprise is that he has any semblance of sanity at all.
Onething your are forgetting, Huey's Father was Declared Brain Dead...Will His Father even be the Same or a Walking corpse??
Looks like we are in the endgame now
I like how every season it ends on the same point but ends up being wrong. “Yo homelander doesn’t give a fuck anymore”
You can't say those people don't deserve it
This is only the beginning. Im confident that Homelander will finally abandon his humanity when Ryan completely rejects him on his own terms. Not influenced by anyone trying to protect him, but just him having a clear and concise image of his "father" and realizing he wants nothing to do with him.
Well, I think Frenchy might actually seek revenge against Little Nina and the Russian mafia for what they made him into, but I also believe that French and Kimiko will talk to each other, though about their past
Didn’t think anything could ever beat breaking bad, then I watched episode 4 of this season and wow…
Bold statement!
Cate Dunlap, a mind-controlling Supe from Gen V will HELP Homelander in the next episodes to be free of his brainwash.
One thing is for sure is that in Ep 4 they showed that,
Deep will be going to stab Sage's heart!!
If you all love Homelander / Antony Starr, Consider watching the TV Series Banshee its fantastic and addicitve like the Boys, I want episide 5 asap !
I had a feeling the season was going to pick up this week.
Definitely delivered!
Bro at this point they can never kill off Homelander. We watch this show to see him!
Unless, the ending?
Hughie actually killed before this when using temp v in season three
Homelander's childhood experiences things also happened in real life. Sadly there won't be any kind of karma like what Homelander did to those evil scientists. 😢 But at the same time I don’t think they could know what to do with such a “gifted” kid.
I wouldn't have minded if this was a bottle episode at B6
I think Butcher's tumor mutated into new superpower, I don't get how it works though still.
This is by far my favorite episode of all till now❤. Homelander 🔥🔥
Yeah such a good episode!
Great show 🤓
Best one so far. First three were slow, hopefully it’s all up hill quality wise from here
His performance was lalo level absolutely amazing acting
Yeah agreed. It was phenomenal!
Colin really turned Gaz on Frenchie
R temp v and compound v the same?
One is just temporary and the other is long lasting
Wow, just noticed how thick the red door is, like a safe door, that woman watched and now trapped with her ripped apart workmates, torture 😂i actually felt bad for homelander, no wonder he a nut case, well acted by Anthony star, well written scenes 👍
Yeah he did great in this episode!
This is homelanders best episode yet. The tension was unreal
Yeah Starr was just great!
Lol Hueys always been a killer. Why is he acting like this is the first time he’s killed a man 😂
best episode ever simple
Firecracker doesn't have any significant power, which is why Starlight can wipe the floor with her
Very true!
“ Houghie became a killer of a human in this episode” he punched through a Russian soldiers chest while freeing soldier boy last season smh
Homelander is the best... and yeah that lobotomy scene was hard AF to watch for sure.
2:30 is false. Stan Edgar talked to homelander like we’ve never seen before
Was an uneasy feeling when Homelander stepped out of the lift
When he told him about the oven I knew it was game over
It's nice to have an episode that isn't just "right le bad"
Which honestly those scenes are even more boring as a non-American since you don't have a bias against either side
it has now been reduced to a fourth-rate splatter
Well, if you want my opinion, I think Homeland would descend more and more into madness And his son Ryan will eventually resent him and try to stay as far away from him as he can, especially since he got a childhood and he was raised by the wife of Billy Butcher I cannot say what will happen next for Huey but I have no doubt that star light suffered a major blow when she attacked firecracker and honestly, I believe it was a political trap so they could damage starlight and it worked as for Frenchie I think he’s going to seek revenge against little Nina and the Russian mafia for what they made him into just like Kimiko is seeking vengeance against the shining path for what they made her into and I believe Frenchie and Kimilko will talk to each other about their pasts so they could help each other, especially since the two have a lot in common with each other and I believe the two might make a cute couple as well as they have a very strong bond with each other it is also going to be interesting to see what will happen next but I also thought it was great though that Huey forgive A train for what happened to his previous girlfriend it was great that the two made piece
