I use just Dynamic mode most of the time but I can feel Dynamic still wants to keep the front wheel on the ground... If we can ride this summer then I'll put TC on Dyna-Pro and have some more fun 😁
@Ilya Garson with the model I owned (gen 2 2017-2020) wheelie control was built into traction control. But if you put the bike into Dynamic Pro, the wheelie control was disabled automatically. I guess if you manually put the ride mode back into Road from inside the dynamic Pro settings, wc would come back on but I can't remember for sure (i traded the bike in two years ago)
Are you sure you have the same bike? Id say if your S1000R has Enduro Pro mode there is something seriously wrong! I guess you have an S1000XR instead.
Nice and clear explanation Rikky, thanks a lot. I own a S1000XR 2017 and I tried to do the same but.....but I don't know why even with dynamic-pro mode settled, in my display doesn't appear the dyna-pro Menu mode.... did you knows if S1000XR is different?
I'm sorry that I cannot offer much help... I'm not sure why Dyna-Pro does not appear in your menu. I guess that you already have the little red plug that enables Dynamic Pro?
@@RikkyTang Hi Rikki, thx for your kind reply. Yes a I have Dynamic Pro enabled. But maybe this feature is not available in 2017 models, and particularly in XR. No one yet gave me any information on it. By the why I appreciate your reply. Ciao
Nice overview. Thank you. Odd thing I noticed with my bike. I do not have the dongle in but it still allows the dynamic pro menu option to be selected. I did a quick "walk" through the menu and believe options looked like yours. I have wondered if I have dynamic pro features available even thought the dongle is not connected. Not sure how to test it short of a big wheelie or stoppie which Im not inclined to try. Any thoughts as to whether its active and how to safely test (not good at wheelie's).
Thanks for watching my video 😊 I recognise your name from the S1KR forum (I'm on there as HeadF0x). Hmmm it's strange how the Dynamic Pro menu is available to you because even the owners guide says that the Dynamic Pro selection is not available unless the encoding plug is inserted. Did you buy your bike brand new? I ask because I once saw a video of someone using a piece wire to "short" the socket on their bike to trick it into the thinking the plug was inserted... perhaps that's been done to yours? To see if yours really is active: something you can do in Dynamic Pro is put the Engine (throttle map) into Rain mode. So try doing that on yours and then to test you could perhaps ride along in Dynamic mode for a short while and then switch over to Dynamic Pro and give the throttle a bit of a twist to see if the the throttle response has really been reduced when compared to Dynamic (as you may know the Rain throttle map is mainly effective in the lower gears). Let me know how you get on!
@@RikkyTang Yes I am also on the forum :) Good suggestion to set dynamic pro engine into rain mode. I'll test tomorrow and see if the engine runs in low power rain mode when I set Mode to dynamic pro. Oh ... And I bought the bike new so no hacks have been made
So have you tried out the pro mode on the road? I'm going to try the Dynamic mode later in the year, but I did try it last year, for a few yards and couldn't believe how hard the suspension got, don't fancy that at the moment with the crappy conditions of the road around here, the pot-holes seem to be breeding
Oh yeah I had to give the Pro mode a little shake down! 😉 I didn't think it could be much quicker than "normal" Dynamic riding mode in the lower gears, but when you do try it you realise how much the bike is reducing the power to stop the front end from coming up in the air, even when in normal Dynamic. In Pro, the bike even picked the front end up a little bit in 2nd while I was slightly lent over! Our bike is a proper Jekyll and Hyde.... I think that Ohlins steering damper upgrade is definately in my future! Did you know that when you switch the bike into Dynamic riding mode, you can then switch the DDC back into Road mode manually? I do that quite often so I have less anti-wheelie but I get the softer ride 👍
You mentioned that dynamic & dynamic pro are options (with pro requiring the dongle). How does this fit in with the Sport vs. not Sport version for this bike? I thought the S1000R pre '17 came in standard or sport packages, and dynamic was including the sport package along with the ESA (suspension). Are the options more complex than this for the > '17 bikes?
The options are the same for pre and post '17 bikes (as far as i know!) If you buy the Sport model you automatically get Dynamic mode, but will still need the dongle to enable Dynamic Pro. I probably didn't do a good job of explaining that, sorry! I can't quite remember the situation with the suspension... I'll look at how I specced my bike. UPDATE yeah the ESA suspension was included on my '19 Sport as well as the Dynamic mode but if you bought the standard model both were available as options (you could have added the Sport Pack and/or the Dynamic Pack).
@@RikkyTang Brilliant cheers mate. I'm considering a second hand sport model to tithe me over until i can afford a Tuono 1100 factory. Prices are ludicrously good at the mo, around the £8k mark with reasonable mileage. 😀
@@hyperthunk £8k for a '17 onward Sport model would be awesome... that's a lot of bike for the money! As I understand it the traction/wheelie control is a bit more sophisticated from '17 so it's worth looking for the newer models. Good luck!

I had a 2015 S1KR that would pick up always in 2nd and sometimes in 3rd giving it stick. Now I got a 2018 and it won't pick up even in 1st in dynamic pro. Is it a setting ? Does it give me maximum acceleration in all gears by not having wheelies because it does feel faster than the 2015 off the line being able to give 1st gear full taps
You might want to look at your Dynamic Pro menu and check that the DTC mode is not set to Rain or Road... I'm pretty sure that this would re-enable Wheelie Control even though your Riding Mode is set to Dynamic Pro in the main instrument panel. If you want wheelies with some limits DTC should be set to Dyna. If you want no WC, set it to D-Pro
@@RikkyTang ok I managed to setup the dyna pro, dtc was set to road. I've changed it to dynamic pro. Will see if it lifts now. Almost feel like having it on allows you to get the max acceleration
@@MetYsJa You are right, the anti-wheelie is really impressive and you almost can't feel it working and that is why you thought the bike maybe felt underpowered because it wouldn't lift the wheel before but at the same time still accelerated hard. Be careful now your DTC is set to Dyna Pro, don't go full throttle in 1st!!
I can't say for sure that the dongle opens up exactly the same options on the XR I'm afraid - the bikes are very similar but not 100% in the electronics (the XR has the control wheel on the handle bar which the R hasn't and the XR more advanced electronic suspension). However what I can say is that Dynamic Pro allows you to switch off the combined traction/wheelie control and I'm confident that is the same on both bikes (EDIT traction control is not totally disabled but wheelie control is). Therefore it will allow you to accelerate harder - it's definately noticeable in the first four gears (be careful in 1st and 2nd!). It depends if you are chasing more performance I guess. I used this full fat mode a few times but I prefer the safety of having traction control enabled most of the time! I'll also say that you need to have the Rider Modes Pro option on the bike too. If that isn't on I'm pretty sure the dongle does nothing.
friend , all that info is very good, thanks for sharing it, I have the bike 2017, actually riding it in dynamic mode not abs dtc and stability control due to a faulty front speed sensor, waiting until next week to get the sensor and hoping all the help options are back lol it feels like she is in beast mode, cheers from Toronto @@RikkyTang
