Does it keep you from reading God's word and going to church? Does it imperil your financial stability ? Does it rob you of sleep and a regular life structure? Does it become an idol in your life? Basic questions we should all answer.

I am an 18 year old born again believer. I play basketball, and I skateboard. Other than that I go to work, read the Bible, preach and acknowledge God in all my ways.
I’ve been feeling convicted about skating. Idk why just a lil

When I am not at work, reading the Bible, in prayer or sleeping, I am now re-engaging in hobbies I had before I got a smartphone: piano, reading, volunteering and baking. I thank Jesus, that He reminded me of the little things that meant so much to me before these screens infiltrated my life. Now to use them for His glory.

I thought of another benefit. Sports and other hobbies are beneficial in developing relationships with both Christans and non-Christians. We can have fun together, work together, talk about it, and so forth. It's a shallower connection helping deeper connections form as the relationship grows.

UpNorth True. I’ve found my hobby/side business of firearms training to be very effective in this regard.

Your body is a temple...the bible says.
Exercising is necessary for a fit and healthy body...therefore a Christian should do some form of exercising. Deciding to be unfit is like gluttony or smoking or drugs. Bad for your body. I'm a Christian and I keep fit. Temple maintenance.....plus it makes you feel better and you have so much more energy. Why would I want to be 30 pounds overweight and be unable to run 3 miles?

Ganon Tice - Source - Truth Time Radio - also on youtube - for solid bible study!
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we make Him Lord of our life.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we repent and get baptized.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we fear God and work righteousness.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we confess our sins and ask for His forgiveness.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we receive Him as our personal savior.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we believe He died for our sins.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we invite the Lord into our heart.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we receive the Eucharist of holy communion.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we keep the commandments and sell our possessions.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we forgive those who have trespassed against us.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we stop sinning.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we walk the isle and join the church.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we pray the sinners prayer.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we are confirmed.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we deny ourself, take up our cross and follow Him.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we observe Yom Kippur.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we endure unto the end.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we kneel at an old fashioned altar and cry a hot scalding bucket of tears.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if while listening to "Just as I am" we decide to walk the isle and give our heart to the Lord.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we pray the rosary.
The gospel is not "Christ died for our sins" if we DO ANYTHING!
Don't pervert it by adding to it.
The gospel is found in 1 Corinthians chapter 15:1-4. "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel... By which also ye are saved,... how that Christ died for our sins... he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
Just keep it simple. (2 Corinthians 11:3)
God says salvation is found through faith in the finished cross-work and resurrection (Ephesians 2:8-9.)
It is only faith that can justify and count for our righteousness.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:5)
Salvation is not getting our sins forgiven, it's believing they already are!

I think if Christians would really be honest with themselves they would come to hate their "little" hobbies. 1 John 2:15 "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." I speak this for myself as well, Jesus did not give us an example of a man who spent his past time in leaser and luxury for himself. Now I'm not saying that he never experienced those things, but what I am saying is that he did not pursue them. How can we spend so much time on ourselves when there are souls perishing everyday and on their way to hell for eternity. Jesus lived with that reality in mind, do we? Jesus did everything in his power to wake them up to repent and to be holy. Do we? If not, we are not his disciples. That can seem so extreme but really how extreme is it if God had already judged this world and was going to wipe his hands clean of it. We would not be here today if Jesus was not willing to lay it all on the line for us. Are we willing to lay it all on the line for Him?

How much do you work in sports and how much do you work at a normal work place? Think about it

  • @fernandogallardo3458

God is not involved in any sports, because of sin...
In sports theirs hate, outbursts of wrath, the love of money, strife, idolatry, exaltation, pride, malice, envy, covetous, murder, etc.

This is exactly what I'm thinking of right now. I don't dislike sports but I do dislike ways people play it. Football⚽️ has been a part of my life for many years and it started to become an obsession so ever since I found my way to God I've only watched it moderately and have made God my number 1. I've watched it in a neutral POV but I can't stand the diving, the cheating, people kissing trophies, etc. I think I'm about to stop watching sports

Missed on this one Tim. See what thinkers like Alan Watt, William Cooper, and Edward G. Griffin have to say not only about sports but TV as well. I cut the cable years ago and have been better off for it. Still watch things I can learn from and mostly commercial free.
