Interestingly enough, reticulated pythons, burmese pythons, and african rock pythons all have slightly different tells before they strike. Like their own sets of body language to memorize. Jay is one of the few people who has bred them all.

@@mwd2023 to a point, the length of the snake doesn't necessarily dictate lunging distance. In fact the bigger the snake the less amount of their body they are able to lift off the ground. Especially when you weigh into consideration the fact that If she strikes too far she won't be able contract her body back into the box where her eggs are.
Shes either super sluggish from laying those eggs, or shes playing nice with him, cuz Pythons strike so fast to the point of not being able to react at times.

She's a mom protecting her babies- this is completely in line with protective mother animal behavior. Wild snakes and broody mothers bred for profit will have very different behavior from snake family members. Many pet snakes, including mine, are very docile. Mine waits for me to wake up in the morning watching my bedroom door and asks to come out just to curl up on my chest and cuddle me before we do an activity- she likes playing with toys and exploring. She has never bit me and doesn't have a single violent bone in her body. Some days she'd rather be held and cuddled. My girl is much smaller though, she's a hognose the size of a long gummy worm, but she is sweet and a very good companion. She is also amazing at communicating for someone born without a voice, limbs, or the ability to change her expressions. (She does a lot of pointing, flatten if she doesn't feel like being held, little hisses to say no or she doesn't like something- usually if I take away a toy she was having fun with and usually I give it back if I didn't realize, as well as gently burrowing her nose into my palm when she is done playing for the day. Videos like this one are not how pet snakes are treated nor how most act- I treat my girl with kindness, respect and trust, and she returns it.
In* highschool.. and that’s another way us mom show our love to our kids by over protecting them😅 we don’t want nothing to happen to you guys. Just like that snake. She just want best for her babies lol. You’ll understand one day when you have kids lol

Python's won't bite anything off, they strangle prey and swallow it. They do have a couple fangs though that will rip you up.
