iRacing just tweeted that they are going to look to bring the speedway bodies as well with the release, or at least reevaluating how they will approach it.
It’s nice iRacing is doing something in memory of NR2003 since a lot of the people who were or r currently at iRacing all came from Papyrus that made NR2003. Not to mention last year was NR2003’s 20th year anniversary and we never got anything for it. Were thinking iRacing probably just wants to forget about completely. I will say for now I do like that we’re getting both the Chevy and Ford first, even though kinda ironic that iRacing will have released 2 versions of the Monte Carlo first with the ‘87 cars and now 2003 version, but I do hope iRacing does get the ‘03 Pontiac GP and Dodge Intrepid at some point to compete the set. They were able to get the Buick LeSabre and Pontiac GP for the ‘87 cars so Pontiac might not be that hard, Dodge though we’ll have to see.
Nascar Racing 2003 I think was the last year I purchased a Nascar game until recently. I have physical copies, in box, of the original up to the 2003 game on a shelf in my wife and my collector's room/office/sim racing room.
Part of me wanted to see the 1998 bodies to be scanned for the gen 4 series. (My reason is, that year was Nascar's 50th Anniversary) But I'm hyped for this, and hope there's enough support and and popularity for this that iRacing will deem it viable to eventually get the Dodge and Pontiac later on.
I'm afraid it is a licensing issue atm if we get only too... Dodge is owned by Stellantis now, not very good for licensing. Who owns the Pontiac rights now?
I Hope this is more a 2006 Mile and a half cars where there crazy low and twisted and look almost like late models. But i think its the SS bodys with the wicker ontop
I wouldn't be surprised if you could use the same paint for all the bodies. In NR2003, the cars would automatically change between short track, intermediate, and superspeedway while using the same scheme.
Way different, thats just tiny parts you can stuff on a template, big difference in nose that would shrink key painting areas if you stuffed it all on one

I think if they were to scan the 03 Pontiac their best bet is Ricky Cravens Darlington car which is a rebuild as the car ran again in the 2004 Darlington race as a Chevy but was in an crash, but even then we would only have the intermediate car. There were many 03 Pontiac bodies in Cup, Busch, and Arca between 2003-07 maybe more could be found intact but I assume most were scrapped, left in pieces or had new bodies put on it.
Looking forward to this it is worth the wait would love to see the pontiac grand prix and the dodge intrepid in the future, but would still want to see a Chevrolet lumina in a separate carset like a mid 90s nascar carset
I lived that “golden age” and hunting for the fastest setups that were posted on forums was like hunting for treasure 😂 I got a setup for charlotte that was unbeatable🎉 But when Papyrus and all the computer sim makers went out of business the golden age turned into the dark ages 😢 until iracing finally got up and running, I joined like the 3rd day 😂 I was disappointed I didn’t catch the first day 😊 Well this should be interesting it might draw me back, I hate the way the current cars drive.
Well papyrus modding basically went into the dark ages BECAUSE of iRacing! IRacing sued all the modders that made NR2003 amazing and killed them of. IRacing hated that people could have a great sim experience for free and wanted to sell their overpriced product with the same „stolen“ physics. I do lots of iRacing nowadays because of no real alternatives but boy do I still hate them from the nr2003 days!
iracing was papyrus, if you hated iracing for stopping the modding community you were hating the very people who made papyrus what it was. I understand though project wildfire was awesome and I was disappointed when lawsuits started flying but I can get why they did it. There future was on the line and in the end we got a better simulation with a much wider variety of cars and tracks and racing then we would have ever had from modders. For me, I raced full seasons on nr2003 and beat the ai on max settings. Thats when I realized that racing against people was the only realistic and challenging way to go, so I will be a member until they or I go out of business 😢 ❤
Yeah people who got mad about that didnt understand that they had to do it to secure their software purchase. It was all the same people but if they did not protect their property they would have never been able to in the future using the same engine.
Is there any difference between the cup 2003 and 2007 cars? And with the speedway body, does that mean we can bump draft at plate tracks? Also, I think both dodge and Pontiac were around in 03. They probably are only bringing ford and Chevy because nascar doesn’t have the other 2 anymore.
Yes, when Ford switched from the Taurus to the Fusion in 06 they changed the nose. When Chevy switched from the Monte Carlo to the Monte Carlo SS in 06 the updated the nose.

This is what I’m saying. Iracing said a few months ago that they were giving monster game their car model tracks and assets from the iracing pc game so that they can use those models and assets in the 2025 Nascar game and even said they are updating iracing itself so that they can take the assets and models in that and put it in the new nascar game. My theory is that is why they are adding this to iracing, also they did recently add the street stock asphalt cars to the iracing game itself, so based on what they said about using the models and assets and updating iracing, I believe that they are most likely doing this so that they can put all of this into the nascar 25 video game that’s also being made by them. But that’s just my theory, a game theory!(see what I did there)
I doubt Stelantis will let dodge be a part of iRacing... they're against anything related to racing, even if its virtual. Be cool to get the pontiac tho
Yeah they already said they were going to go to the next gen, and wouldnt be a reskin, all they did was bring the graphics up to date, they have done that for the Skip Barber, Mustang, and a few other cars, so that was nothing new.
I assume they will be pretty close to what we already have. Biggest thing will be the engine though, right now ours was just faked up from the truck/arca engine.
More boring cars that will only appeal to Americans. ARCA, Gen 4 and now these, who needs so many cars that are basically the same when you can go through ALL of motorsports through the years and have more varied cars. Typical that Jr. only cares about the NASCAR side of things and not the rest of the world.

There is a Tide Pontiac on Trading Paints for Gen 4/ARCA looks officially licensed! So that will work for me.

Don't forget, Indycar has multiple configurations with fenders/wings based on track type. So it can definitely be done.
