One of the best attributes of the Internet & UA-cam is to introduce us to new idea, issues, thoughts, gestures and, of course, art can represent all of those and more. I was not familiar with Gary Hume, but liked his presentation very much. I wish there was a more thorough filming of the art but, fortunately, I can use the Internet to find out so much more about him and to see more of his work. Like others have indicated, it is a statement of our times that this interesting man, art, film has garnered only 12,000+ views since 2012 when other relatively worthless videos have many more ..
I like the cheer-leader thought - for me it's the same looking at his work and hearing him speak, I'm torn between liking what he says and the way that he says it and simply being green with envy at his elevated wealthy position. Not an attractive sentiment, I know, but there it is, I would love to be there. He once spent several seconds in my studio, where I was showing a wall of drawings, he stepped forward for a moment to look more closely at one of them then walked out.
These are very material intensive calculated works. They pick up in beauty and give you up in beauty___complicated times love simple pictures::......nice to see , wy not ?
I can see design element that are pleasing but that's as far as it gets for me. I need a sense of nervous hesitation to engage, on one level they work, for sure they're beautiful, yet after that initial contact a false stop.
Ah,ah,ahah...very entertaining.. isn't he a clever narrator...who needs to do much else but narrate at the end of the day ? even if your picture says nothing, its not about the words. Visual Art, for goodness sake..let the imagination roam ,add, expand to the work exposed.. i like my paintings to speak for themselves...and if others can't hear. .well thats okay,go look elsewhere So much diatribe disturbs me...visual art IS visual art....

Thumbed down for the annoying background music that distracts from what Mr. Hume has to say.
