What began as a day of excitement thinking it was really cool that the president was visiting our city quickly turned into shock, sadness, and fear. I was in a middle school only a few miles from that elementary school where he was visiting. It was a HORRIBLE time of mindless national pride AKA fascism, not to mention Islamophobia. And no, not all of us were proud to be an American, which was a genetic mistake. And invading Iraq gained popularity quickly because people wanted revenge so badly that it didn't matter if Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, which it didn't.
Even after all these years, the horror of what happened in 2001 stills hits like a ton of bricks. This video still carries the shock and horror as it did many years ago
Don’t you think it’s weird that they would stay at the school with the president of the United States after learning the country was under attack? He does a speech, instead of immediately heading to a bunker?
What bunker? The “presidential visitation bunker” that every school in America has on the off chance that the president visits? I’m mostly breaking your balls. I get your point. But there’s no bunker at that school haha.
That would be a terrible message to send, with the president over 1000 miles away under no credible threat. Ordinary Americans are under attack and dying, and their leader says "Good luck folks! I'm going to hide somewhere safe!"
@@CT-pi2gl The president of the United States is a target. Which means the closer these kids are to this man, the closer these kids are to danger. So to protect him AND the people at the school, it’s best to leave and find a bunker.
I was in 3rd grade when this happened and from India. My class teachers son was living in America at the time. I still remember the picture, I was sitting in the front bench. When she told the class that, there has been a terrorist attack on USA.
Its kinda weird I was kid this time but I remember my mom crying and my dad being mad while watching tv this day and my father wanted to be put back into Active Duty
I was a grade younger than the kids that were in the classroom (first grade, 6 years old) when Bush was told the news on 9/11. All I remember that day was after school watching the news at home, and just confused why there's so much smoke coming from the buildings. What I do remember a lot better though was the huge amount of American flags and posters (especially the one where the Firemen are raising the flag at 9/11) put up around my elementary school the months following, and the amount of American pride everywhere. Although 9/11 was devastating, October 2001 to 2002 was an incredibly patriotic experience.
I’m really curious what’s going through that kids head (the one to the left of Bush). I was around that age when 9/11 happened. I learned what happened, but I didn’t appreciate its magnitude - how could I, when I was only 10? When something this big happens, kids looked to their adults for how to react - I was only as scared as the teachers and parents in my life were. I could imagine being that kid and learning about it this way, knowing it’s super serious because of the solemn atmosphere, but not understanding the emotional and real life implications. He might be thinking how cool it is to be so close to the POTUS, or how boring all this ceremony and standing around is. He probably knows something big happened, but at that point it was just another a grown-up problem.
And that is why us adults will lie through our teeth everything's going to be ok. Or it's scary but we'll be ok. The worst thing though is that we're also lying to ourselves too.
I was a second grader at Liberty Elementary in Port Charlotte when this happened -- only 40 minutes south of this school in Sarasota. I remember it like it was yesterday. I'm very grateful for our teacher who was brave and thoughtful enough to treat us like human beings and put on the news. We all watched and to be very honest, we all knew what was going on and we were only 7 years old.
Never forget, this guy let the Saudi Biden Laden family fly home after we were attacked by 19 Saudis. After the attack, he let Bin Laden go on Tora Bora. He then let 60 illegal Israelis who were caught in filming the attack before it took place fly back to Israel. Then he attacked Iraq, who had nothing to do with 911. All those soldiers died for a lie, but I guess it's still too soon to talk about it. I'm glad we have such great friends in the Middle East keeping America safe.
I just remember walking down the sidewalk from the bus, one of the early days of 6th grade, and my mom meeting me in the front yard saying, "Today was a terrible day for America." I walked inside to the living room where the TV was on and began see the broadcasts. Life changed forever.
That's surely a coincidence, as in 2015 they reported having lost 3 times that amount. If you think that 9/11 was some kind of cover-up for having lost $2T, then it makes no sense that they'd do that, but not do anything after reporting a loss of $6T 14 years later
I think this is a great scene in America. The president can calmly communicate the state of emergency at any time, no matter where he is However, it is amazing. I envy his ability to tell the truth to school students on the spot. If this were Japan, Prime Minister would just go back to the Prime Minister's Office and read the statement aloud, and not let the students hear it directly. It is proof that in the United States, the right to immediate knowledge of the facts, whether adults or children, is protected.
I just want a president who can speak clearly, doesn’t have to be taken by the elbow and escorted everywhere, and can think for himself. I initially had faith in Biden, but it was quickly dashed when he began forgetting where he was. And then that incident with Mitch McConnell freezing up. The president shouldn’t have to be told how to answer a question. I’m just hoping they’re not gonna make me vote for trump again.

I believe he was already going to be making a speech seeing as he states that another person would be taking his place speaking on education (the purpose for the visit) but clearly there was a change of plans
The applause was icky. He should have just left the school upon hearing the bad news. Why drag those children through the mess? But then, a Presidency that created 'No Child Left Behind' (which left every child behind) couldn't care less about their feelings. Only a photo op.

@@chrisg7731 Of course there’s no bunker at the school. They should have left the school to get to the bunker is what Im saying.

Reminds me of that tragedy
And the US massacred over 60x as many innocent people as died in 9/11 in their terrorist attacks on Japan
And that is why us adults will lie through our teeth everything's going to be ok.
Or it's scary but we'll be ok.
The worst thing though is that we're also lying to ourselves too.
Wake up citizens!!!! If we do t get our act together we will never be able to deal with a tragedy like this…we are so split as a nation

The only thing that confuses me about 9/11 is the pentagon losing a bunch of money that can’t be accounted for.
That and the people in this video are applauding one of the masterminds of 9/11
That's surely a coincidence, as in 2015 they reported having lost 3 times that amount.
