For everyone that doesn't have a, or like to use an electric food processer, here's a tip: grind the cashew nuts, salt, chilli pepper powder, green peppers, onion, salt, garlic & ginger in a mortar to turn into a curry paste and fry it before adding tomato pulp. This will result in the same smooth curry.
What I love about this is the way the young people respect and include the Granny. This is a exemplar to all of us - respect to the young Indian people - you do your culture and yourselves great credit! - plus a great recipe.. My condolences to you Granny - R.I.P

This is so wonderful and such a peaceful video. So nice to see a grandma cooking with the support of her daughter/family members outdoor on open fire like my grandma in older days. She made wonderful butter chicken. Such a nice warm smile. ☺️ Made my day, reminded me of my grandma. Thank you for sharing.
@Martin OscarssonI quote: On Sunday, Mastanamma’s family and friends announced, she died at age 107. “MISS YOU GRANNY,” the moderators of her UA-cam channel, Country Foods, wrote. Mr. Reddy described her as one of a kind. The last few videos on Country Foods are of Mastanamma’s funeral. To the thump of drums, a bright yellow truck carrying her body crawls along a dirt road. Well-wishers gather in the street, dancing, laughing, whistling and sprinkling the open coffin with hundreds of flower petals.

I have as a Caucasian Canadian having grown up with generic beef chili, hamburgers/hotdogs, spaghetti (with premixed spices), etc started on a Curry Journey approximately 2 years ago. I just stumbled across this video tonight, and although her preparation of Murgh Makhani is somewhat different that i've seen before I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS WOMAN. I'll be searching out other videos that she's made. If i'm sorry for anything...it's that i'm late to the party and just learned about her. Please keep making videos about curry cooking! We love you! Ryan
Ryan: Her cooking is as authentic as it gets as far as rustic home cooking is concerned. In Indian villages, outdoor cooking is common ( or at least it used to be when I was growing up). The smell of the earth and the wood burning is imprinted in my memory. Whenever I watch granny’s cooking videos, it reminds me of my childhood vacations spent in my ancestral village. Sadly she is no more with us but we can continue to enjoy these little glimpses into her life through her cooking.
So glad someone made the effort to film this beautiful woman's gift. Food made with this much love and care is all the medicine for the heart and soul that any of us needs.
As someone who makes Indian food on a regular basis, I could practically taste the heat of the dish from here. I am so impressed by the quantity of chili powder used. Using 1 tsp for a pound of chicken is more than enough for me. I made some Butter Chicken Masala for my roommate two nights ago and I used 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder for 1 lb of chicken and they said it was a little on the spicy side for them. And they LOVE Indian food. I would LOVE to see their reaction eating very traditional Indian food like this
Reem Alabed I must be a mutant, because chili powder does not taste hot to me? And I don’t like hot spice....unless we’re talking about different chili powder here? 😂
Christian Johansen literally just commented below how the chili powder I’m used too is not hot at all lol.... is this what commonly found in the states? I’m in America.... and our chili powder is not hot at all!

I just watched this recipe for the first time. I would love to have the ingredients appreciate the response. So sorry, to hear that the lovely lady passed away in sleep. Stay safe😷all.
The ingredients are on the right side of the screen as they are used. I made this last night, but I was missing methi leaves (fenugreek), cashews, sugar, mint leaves, and coriander leaves. Even though I mixed wearing gloves, my nails are stained from turmeric. It was yummy. As I cook for one, I have lots left for today and tomorrow. Also I use stainless steel. I do not use aluminum pots and spoons.
Ingredients: chicken, salt, pepper, turmeric, redchili powder, coriander powder, paste made of garlic and fresh ginger, lemon juice, oil, garlic, red onion, tomatoes, hot peppers, curry leaves, cashews, water, cream, sugar, mint leaves, coriander leaves (cilantro), butter butter butter etc. Watch the video again so you get them in the right order.
Just made this by eye balling all ingredients as she did and it turned out AMAZING! Been to several Indian restaurants and thought this recipe was by far better than most.
I made it and it is delicious! I transcribed it into a recipe. Buttery naan recipe Ingredients: For chicken and marinate: 3 pounds chicken (boneless thighs or breast) 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon chilli powder 1 teaspoon coriander 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 4 garlic cloves minced 1 squeezed lemon juice 2 tablespoons oil For the sauce: 6 medium size challots 2 medium size tomatoes 1 green pepper 2 garlic cloves 1 stick unsalted butter 1/3 cup heavy cream 1/2 cup water 1/4 unsalted cashews (optional) Chop the chicken in dices in marinate with the salt, turmeric, red chili, coriander, black pepper, minced garlic, lemon and oil. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. On a large pan, sprinkle with a little bit of oil and 1/4 of the butter stick, sauté the chicken until brown and completely cooked.Remove the chicken and save it in a bowl. In the same pan add some more butter the vegetables the garlic clove finally chopped and cook the vegetables until tender. Sprinkle some salt and pepper to taste. Add the water and let it simmer for at least 20 minutes. When the water has reduced, transfer into a blender to make it into a puré or a paste. It will look like a tomato soup. Return that into the same pan, heat it up, add the cooked chicken and the rest of the butter, add the heavy cream and the cashews. Taste the sauce and add more salt, pepper or chili to taste. If you feel it doesn’t need it then don’t . Let the sauce thicken at a low heat until chicken is tender. I like to serve it with basmati or jasmine rice and some plain yogurt.
THANK YOU MAMA FOR YOUR YUMMMMMY FOODS. YOURE STILL GOING STRONG. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU WITH HEALTH AND STRENGTH TO KEEP MAKING US YOUR YUMMMMMY FOOD TO FEED OUR FAMILIES FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS. YOUR FOOD IS YUMMMMMMY AND SUPERRRRRRRRB. LOVE FROM NEW ZEALAND. :)

you grind the tomato with it. you nned the tomato to become a paste with those ingredients

Liked this within 5 seconds of the video - just seeing her smiling. Then found out she's passed away now. :( RIP
I nearly said I would add less salt for health reasons. Then remembered her age, and how she must have known how to eat properly all her life.
Same for me, but then i remembered that i don't need to eat so much. Small portions will solve this.
Ok but she's making portions for like 20 people so it needs alot of salt
Sea-salt or any salt that isnt Saxa style manufactured, over-processed chemical salt isnt bad for you. your body will piss out what it doesnt need.

Wow grandma I bet you would shame classically trained chefs. Simply amazing. Mad skillz.
I made it and it is delicious! I transcribed it into a recipe.
Buttery naan recipe
Ingredients:
For chicken and marinate:
3 pounds chicken (boneless thighs or breast)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 garlic cloves minced
1 squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons oil
For the sauce:
6 medium size challots
2 medium size tomatoes
1 green pepper
2 garlic cloves
1 stick unsalted butter
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup water
1/4 unsalted cashews (optional)
Chop the chicken in dices in marinate with the salt, turmeric, red chili, coriander, black pepper, minced garlic, lemon and oil.
The fresh herbs she used arent in the recipe though? Also she uses a ginger garlic paste in the marinade
That brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Nanni
