Thank you Elaine for this wonderful tribute the "Forever Cowboy" Robert Fuller. I like the images and video segments you used as well as the incredible narration. And the song Marry Me, Marry Me ...by Hoagy Carmicheal I have that tune on my phone. Well it is time to shovel the sidewalk to "cool down" some after viewing your video! Thank you for your hard work.
Robert, you almost seem to good to be true in Laramie Those eyes , those tender hands with the ladies In love scenes And striking voice and eye lashes plus fearless with the Bad guys ....you handsome cutie man you the ladies are And were crazy over you......thanks darling You make our day!!!!!!!!!!
We are still avid fans of Laramie and watch it daily on Encore Westerns. My wife is from Peru and She tells me that when this show first aired there Robert Fuller was the heart throb of every woman in Peru. She also watches him on Emergency reruns on TV Land. You go Robert!
Actually Bob and John were close friends throughout the run of the series. John was originally signed to play Jess. Bob had already turned down a couple of series because he wanted to do a western. Mind you, he was a struggling actor at the time. They gave him the Laramie script to read and he said the part of Jess was exactly what he was looking.
@grobbo1961 Many of the photos are screen caps that I've enhanced. Yes, he's still a very handsome man and a wonderful man to know. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love all westerns. Gunsmoke will always be my favorite but Robert Fuller In Laramie is so close a second that if I had to choose one over the other, I don't know if I could.
When the studio told Bob that John Smith had already been signed for the role of Jess, Bob turned the part of Slim down flat. He left figuring he'd never hear from Revue again. A few days later they called him back and asked him to read for the part of Jess. They had talked John Smith into taking the part of Slim. The two men became fast friends. So no, I don't think JS was jealous of the attention Bob got. John got top billing as part of his contract. My friends call me Elaine, my middle name.
@Kimbersan The last photos are professional portraits plus screen caps from Wagon Train: Santiago Tesada, Fort Pierce. Big Valley: Flock of Trouble. Return of Magnificent Seven and Walker Texas Ranger: Final Showdown. Thanks for the compliments. Bob deserves all the recognition we can give him.
@laramielin Yes, it was from Stage Stop. Did you know Season 1 is coming out on DVD March 15th? Fantastic quality. I received a set from Timeless. Universal gave them the master films to use for the release.
Thanks for the reply..John always seemed to be so much more serious than RF so I just figured that tho he didn't show it, maybe inside he, being an actor, would want at least the same attention as RF...but I could be way off base....lol
Ok..this is my favorite group of clips I've seen yet. Even today he's sure good looking.....give anything to meet him! When he's reciting 'bout going back to Texas was that part of one episode or what? Thanks for the upload, it's great!
"Going back to Texas" was just a recording he made and not part of an episode. Some say it is called "The Ballad of Jess Harper", but others say that he made another one, and I've seen a picture of the 45rpm record label with The Ballad of Jess Harper on it. But, It appears to have been lost.
@ssimmons0602 Hi, Stage Stop was evidently originally filmed in color, it wasn't colorized. The colors are too true to have been artificially colorized. Robert Fuller doesn't remember that it was filmed in color but you can tell by the quality that it was. There is probably a story behind the switch to b&w, hopefully someone out there will know.
Nicely done Elaine! Love how crisps the photos of Bob are at the end, are those from Incident at Phantom Hill? Looks like Bob is getting a real collection of videos on youtube! Keeping the memories alive! Great job! Kimber
I wish someone could get the movie " incident at phatum him with Robert fuller" i try to buy it but they do not have it in english. I think all his movies should be shown on all tv's and not at 3 or 5am in the morning. All his fans want to see all is movies, I'm a fan, please help us.
+teresa gambrell I looked up their website and they are also broadcasting on 12.3. Their schedule on gritv.com shows that Laramie is being broadcasted 6 times on 2/19/16 6am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 6pm, and 7pm EST. You are probably CST so, just subtract one hour from each time. If you're not receiving a signal, then you may need to realign your antenna. Good luck! Thanks for watching!
Where can I find the DVD set of Laramie? I was enjoying watching it on Amazon until Starz pulled it. Love the shows and find Robert Fuller to be an incredible actor.
I wonder if John Smith, who did get top billing after all, ever feel just a tad jealous of RF with all the attention he got? I DO watch only to see RF but how must John have felt ....I assume not to good. p.s. who is Elaine?
