TwinGodesses you're beautiful, awesome video! hair looks great after the chop
TwinGodesses awh ur sweet and you are still beautiful!
Exactly!
TwinGodesses I just cut off 8 inches. I will say after doing it myself and having to get it corrected, it’s better to have a professional do it that has experience cutting natural hair. It falls better than it ever has now.
True...Permanent heat damage isn't worth a temporary style....
Wasn’t permanent
@@donnahicks2444 it was
Heat damage is no joke. Smh. At first the thought is (for me it was) "Oh looser hair, that should look good".... Bruh. So not worth it in the end. Your hair came out beautifully!
Alicia Mc what does smh mean
Isa Sumareh shaking my head
I thought I wanted that straighter hair too, My hair is so hard to deal with and wash n goes don't work. But no... I'll just have to figure it out, and slowly cut off the damage ends.
Most of you guys are commenting saying that I'm sad. I am FAR from sad. You guys have no clue!!! For those with heat damage, you know the struggle! I can't wait to show you all my wash n go!!! Lol, it's bomb! 😁
I did a big chop last week...it was damaged it had to go period...I love how it feels
haters are going to hate
I have heat damage. Yes, the struggle is real. My hair is so much healthier and fuller after the hair stylist cut it. I'm at peace 😊. Can't wait for it to grow fully nappy! Yay!
When I tell u my hair is so Fly since I cut the heat damage, about 4.5 inches. It looks soooooo much better now. #AintNobodyGotProduct4That
+kizzie kente Yessss 👏
I need to do this badly!! I'm just so afraid of having short hair lol
DO it! You will thank yourself later! I just did and the results are like night and day :)
+HouseJamisha I'm gonna try a protein treatment first.
Protein treatments are a great choice, blessing to you :0)
would you rather have long damaged hair or short healthy hair?
+PiccoloVegeta97 long damage 😩😩 lol but I'm working on it though
Currently struggling with heat damage. It's hard working up the courage to just cut that heat damaged hair off!
Same if you wear it curly anyways though it really isn't that bad. Plus it's for the best lol. I just need to keep saying that to myself. I grows back beautifully though.
Same here
I cut my hair off 2 days ago😬 and I was so scared and nervous! but i hated my hair cus most of it was damaged . So my mom cut it for me and I began to cry while it was happening but i didnt anf afterwards i love my hair now❤️ i do sometimes question it but ik its for the best👍🏾hope that helps u solve ypie fear , also im 12😁
I don't Understand why some natural/curly girls get heat damage after just Flat ironing their hair once. That sucks! And others straighten their hair very often and get minimal to no heat damage.
Nia JK we produce the same general amount of oil. the difference is with straight hair, the oil goes down the hair shaft no problem, however with curly hair, it gets caught at the bends. which is why our hair will seem to take a longer time getting dirty/oily. it takes a longer time for the oil to go down that hair shaft.
Leah M yup. first time getting my hair flat ironed but it was at a Dominican salon and then a few months later BOOM heat damage
Hair type / thickness, amount of heat, heat protection, technique of straighteniing, whether hair was already damaged / weak ... soo many factors
why is this so satisfying to watch..
It's always satisfying to watch people get rid of bad "stuff"
ASMR look it up 😀
S Johnson The music helps too
Carmen Ng
Its satisfying to watch all the bad hair come off and a brand new fresh style to come back
I do not use heat period. If I want straight hair, I wear a wig.
You go girl, I know it wasn't easy.
I also feel it wasnt easy but she sure will enjoy her hair even more now!!
Right ! Looks so good !
Sabrina Huggins yes Sabrina!!
I caught heat damage for like the 3rd time...you'd think I'd learn my lesson by now but nope...I started my transition 2 weeks ago. 50 more weeks to go 😭😭 lol
oh wow! wishing you a good journey of transitioning dear!! :) sometimes it takes us more than one mistake to learn ;)
+Silvia Dwomoh thank you so much ❤️
What's interesting to me about the heat damage talk that i see and hear about online and in real life is that if a person was wearing their hair always straight and when they wash it, it would look very similar to how her hair is. But it would be said the hair is "heat trained" because with the limp ends of hair when the person goes thru the process of straightening it it would be great for that style.
However when the hair is like that and a person is wearing their hair kinky, curly its called "heat damage"
So i guess its "damaged" when a person wants it curly/puffy but "trained" when its wanted to be straight. Interesting.
No i am not dissing you it is just something that i really do notice
+kells y I agree. I'm a straight natural and do t really do the kinky styles and my hair is perfectly healthy. As with anything , it's not a "one size fits all." Do what works for you and be happy!!
King 2.10 Yeah as i thought about it from watching videos of women who keep their hair straight and from women who are natural and talk about heat damage i see the hair is the same but it just varies on how a person looks at it.
If you want straight curly then you should just cut off the stingy, straight ends and go from there and 'not' look at it as heat 'damage' but maybe look at it as letting go of the straight ends or heat 'trained' ends.
People have been able to keep their hair and go back to curly with Protein treatments. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone but its worth trying overall.
Your hair looked so much fuller and lively after the cut!! You looked gorgeous as usual!!
You look a bit sad :(
but you look so pretty..honestly hair is so much more than just hair, it's like a representation .
It's our crown 👑
+Sadira Gray so true
She's not sad
Exactly. I am my hair and the way I wear it in it's natural state represents me. It's beautiful. And getting rid of the length takes some getting used to which is why she may look sad but when it grows back it looks way better.
JaiProdz She's not sad tho
I just did my third big chop bc of heat damage, ughhhh. Help me Jesus, I should know better by now. Oh well, here I GROW again!
I want to do this so badly but my mom won't let me 😭 it's more like my hair is uneven so I wanted to cut it all to the same length
I did it without my mom's permission. It's your hair, not hers.
+Jazzy Lashay lol I see what your saying my sister did the same thing the funny thing is I'm actually 17 so I should be able to cut my own hair cause it's really uneven. Hopefully🙂
***** It's her hair, not her mom's hair. She should be able to do what she wants with her own hair.
Cut it. She doesn't have to live with unhealthy hair, you do.
Just start cutting random pieces and then you'll have to get a hair cut that's what happens to me
I want you to know you motivated me to cut the front of my hair which was heat damaged! Thank you so much!!! I love how my hair looks now and I know I won't do that again!!! Much love 💖
I know this took a lot of courage. My first and only time getting my hair straighten I ended up with heat damage. I haven't found the courage to do another big chop as yet, I'll definitely wait until it grows out a bit more. It is really frustrating at times, I miss my body and my full true texture! Your results look amazing you're stunning so I know you can rock anything!
I went to a salon to get my hair shaped for the first time in my life and she cut all my hair off i was so sad i lost 4 inches
Yeah, even though my hair is in different lengths all around my head, I do my best to embrace it. Because I know that if I were to get them all cut to the same length, it would be shorter than I would like it to be.
Same happened to my mom but it grew back in the year though but she just went back to relaxing it and it stopped growing.
same here only lost about 8 inches!! first day i was mad as heck but its been over a month its growing on me.. my hair has always been same length but the layers are giving me tons of volume
4 inches is not much. It grows back quickly. I cut off 10 last year and it took a year to grow back. I just cut 8 or 9. Use rice 🍚 water. It works!
Your hair looks great! Congrats!!
Thank ya April!!
I'm just seeing your video. U did a great job cutting your hair and for that to b a 3 day old twist out it is still really pretty!! The worst is behind you now your hair can continue to grow!!
Aww Thank You! Appreciate it ❤
+TwinGodesses how'd you get your hair to grow long in a year and a few months?
+Deez Nutz I was taking vitamins and using sulfate shampoos on my scalp to really cleans it. Also, protective styling!
TwinGodesses omg thank you! And I'll definitely try some of this!
+TwinGodesses wat kind of vitamins please
I just cut off my heat damage off and I am dedicating my hair to no heat from now on after this
Yay! I only limit my hair to one blowdry session every 3 months. And when I blowdry, I don't do it straight, only to give it a bit of a stretch for protective styles.
That's great. I always wonder why my hair only feels good when blow dried. If I don't blow dry, my hair gets dry easily, feels rough, and doesn't absorb products.
Ashley-ann Ellison If your hair gets dry easily and doesn't absorb products, your hair is more than likely low porosity.
Cindy99765 okay thanks for the info
Your hair looks so much better since you cut that heat damage off. I was never one to really straighten my hair even when I was relaxed, but when I did, I either straighten it myself or my twin sister Andrea would do it for me so that we could give each other a trim. I agree with you about letting other people do your hair and I have been there, lol. I am so grateful to God that my hair is growing and I know with a little TLC, it will get even longer. Nice video Alicia and your hair looks beautiful. :)
It looks much better dear the shape and length suits you
Yessss! I cut off 4 inches of heat damage in February and I look back and I'm like why was I holding onto that dead hair??? My hair looked sooooo much better. It felt better and it's almost all grown back. Love your hair!
It looks so good! You did a great job cutting! I had texlaxed hair when i did my big chop and it was really hard to tell the texlaxed pieces b/c they were curly too! But I'm sure your hair will grow in nicely!
I totally feel you. I just cut 4 inches of heat damaged in the front of my hair as well. Healthy hair is the best hair.
I'm proud of you. I did the big chop the beginning my sophomore year of high school. I'm starting my senior year and my hair is back to hip length so don't be sad about cutting your hair because it does grow back after all.
Ok I know I'm a month late, but when you cut your hair before your sophomore year, was it a twa or the length of hers because I'm a sophomore and I cut my hair during the summer into a twa. I'm curious to know if i would have hip length hair before my senior year like you do.
I think you natural ladies hair is gorgeous. I'm not African American, so I don't know anything about your hair type, but I wish I could experience having your ladies hair type. I just think it's so beautiful in its natural state. love it. I LOVE big hair, my bf teases me when I can get my hair into a really big, tall bun, my hair is naturally wavy/frizzy, so I have to not wash my hair for a few days and have A LOT, of hair spray and product in it. but I can get my hair pretty big when it's down, it's hit and miss. but I absolutely love big hair. the bigger the better! you're beautiful!
The after results are gorgeous! 😍👌🏾
you did a great job 👍👍 your hair looks so much healthier now!
I can't wait till I get the courage to big chop lol
it's so worth it
It really is worth it. Once your hair starts growing it's gonna be bomb af
you r gonna love it.
awww it's so exciting to see your hair back and fully healthy!! damage was tryna hold you back but your hair looks real great boo❤
I just ran across your video. I love the song. It is so appropriate. Good for you for being brave. Our hair takes so long to grow and we put so much love in it. I would be a bit upset if someone else didn't take the care that I do to prevent heat damage. Oh well. It will grow back. Thumbs up to you.
Looks awesome and healthy now. Length not important at all. i love doing that to hair. Gives it new life
I know this allllllll too well as I just cut my heat damaged ends off last week and the difference has been amazing! I didn't know how much the damaged hair effected the moisture in my healthy hair. My twist outs now are so nice and no more adding rods to the ends! Great video :0) Blessings!
Omg! Amen!!!! I swear, heat damage or any type of damage Is the devil. I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer. I couldn't do twist outs at all when I had the damage. Just braid outs with perm rods only! Now I can!!!!! ❤ Tfw!!!
Amen!!! Just subscribed so I can keep up with your journey, many blessings to you lady :)
Great job! I did that yesterday. I'm natural too but like a silly, got a flat iron three weeks ago, sweated it out and results.... straight ends! They had to go and it looks so much better. Like you, I don't think my hair likes heat at all! No blow drying, flat ironing or diffusing! New subbie. 😘
Your hair is absolutely beautiful!!! It looks 1,000+% better than it did before you cut it. It's soooo pretty. You know there are 'so called' professionals that sell products that is supposed to help you with your heat damaged hair. That is false! The ONLY way anybody can get rid of heat damaged hair is to cut it off! There's no other way. You did the right thing by cutting all of that damaged hair off. To make your roots lay down all you have to do is put the products you style your hair with on it and it will lay down. Thanks for your video.
tbh I think that's false cause I was doing a length check on a small piece of my hair and unfortunately got heat damage and it was bone straight when I washed it but its almost a year later and it's STILL reverting but it's almost back normal so if you can then I say wait it out but then again i would've cut it if it was all over my head😅
+Teaira Cole Maybe that's your case, but most people's hair doesn't revert at all. It's literally curly at the root, and straight at the ends, so..
I feel your pain been natural 6 years. I just cut 5 inches off due to heat damage. So frustrating but I too was over it. Lesson learned no heat for me. Be strong it will grow back healthier and stronger.
i cut 10cm of my hair and i feel happier than ever, the tip of my hair feels much better too. My hair is also growing faster than before.
I never understood brides like its just one day to make anyone bend over backwards for that day when its just the bride and groom getting married. My bridesmaids loved me i told them pick out a dress in this color whatever you like they showed me I picked the one I loved the most. I told them whatever you want to wear as shoes just coordinate I had one bridesmaids with foot problems who asked not to wear heels I said of course. As my gift to them I paid for all the hair and make up on my wedding day. I told them do whatever you want and with whatever make up. Even with all that everyone still hated what their hair and make up when they complained i just told them you picked it out not my problem. I wouldn't make anyone sacrifice or change what their comfortable with for my day.
It looks so much healthier! I'm so glad that you let those damaged ends go!
Yessssss!!!! Thanks!
Heat does not cause damage... The improper use of heat tools causes damage to natural hair along with the stylist that does the hair. Its beautiful by the way.😍
it will grow back in no time girl!!! . I remember when I big chop I just came home one day set up my camera cause like you I WAS OVER IT and big chopped. over the 3_years I was scissor happy cutting 6-8 inches for no reason... now since I posted my update curly hair routine I'm growing it back out .. no more cutting let's see how far it grows. AS FOR HEAT...I only straighten my hair once a year new years eve..
That fresh start with clean ends is thee best feeling!!
girl, the shrinkage is real! But you look so good! You're so naturally beautiful!
Your hair looks so much more healthier !
You won't skip a beat with all that beautiful hair. Great video!
omg, your hair is beautiful!!! i loved your day-3 hair. It looked like day-1 hair to me. :- )
everyday I'm contemplating cutting off my locs and being a 'loosey' for awhile.
That's it, I'm subbing! keep the vids coming. thanks.
now I can do my big chop with confidence I have heat damage as well love this thank you 😘
I always thought that a "BIG Chop" meant cutting all the hair off, leaving only about an inch of hair. Not just basically trimming a few inches. Thanks for sharing this with us :)
The last time I straightened my whole head was in November I didn't get any heat damage from that time but then I straighten my leave out in March and then again in May and I damaged my leave out which had just started to grow out from straightening it a lot in 2015 . I have decided that it's not worth it, I love my curls too much to damage them for a temporary style . I'm not gonna straighten my hair for at least 2 years. I'm at armpit Length almost to bra strap length so hopefully within those two years of no heat I can be to mid back 😊
Congrats on getting rid of your heat damage. I love your videos. Would love to see all the steps of the max hydration method
yessss to the max hydration method. I did it every day for 5 days--7 was a stretch for me bc I have to be at work early and I got tired of waking up early. now I'm doing it every 3 days. no more tangled roots! and I've been tool and heat free (no combs, brushes, flat irons, blow dryers etc.) all of 2016.
I can't wait!!! Did you have to start off with the cherry Lola treatment. I really want to skip that part 😥
Yep I did it and my hair liked it. It felt very strong, yet soft. But I've heard that a lot of ppl don't do that step.
the end result, my first reaction was omg SO cute! I love your hair.
Your hair looks so much better with the cut and healthier. I like those glasses too :)
I just cut off a lot of my heat damage. I am happy, but I do miss my length. Thanks for sharing your video because it helped me to gain the courage to do the BC.
I'm currently dealing with heat damage. It's only been two weeks but I'm glad I've seen your videos about your journey. I think I'm going to ride it out for a while like you did. Thanks
OMG....I went through the same thing last year for my sister's wedding. The hair stylist burned all of my hair and my niece's hair. I had to grow most of it back and then got it cut in Jan of 2016. It was cut down to a small fro and it grew back in for months and it's still growing strong. But, thanks to that experience I'm weary of salon's that say they do natural hair. I only go for trims now
You have so much beautiful hair! The chop did the thing...looks fantastic!
you did a great job. because of this vid I will never let anyone straighten my hair.
Yes!!! Thanks so much! Really appreciate it ❤
+TwinGodesses I had heat damage and I used cantu cream and it really worked and it brought my hair back to life so you should try it
I'll admit that I fast forwarded the video to the end so I could get a sneak peek and I couldn't help but think that I can't wait until I get to that point when my hair can have that much length!
Looks great! Btw..I love the Banks song playing in the background! She's 🔥. I hadn't heard that remix tho. Nice👍🏾
Congratulations on taking the big step...only more greatness to come....You're hair looks beautiful!!!!
Your hair looks really pretty and healthy in the end. Keep it up gurl. This was uploaded om my b-day yaay.
You did a great job, your hair cut looks great. I think everyone with curly hair should keep their curls because they are so beautiful.
I actually did my big chop, not to far from when you did yours. You're so brave and beautiful
I was about to do a big chop but I got heat damage and my entire nape was bone straight... I honestly regret straightening my hair for something as temporary as prom but this video honestly motivated me to want to cut my hair even more
You look soo pretty without makeup ! I love how your cut turned out 🙈. I'm growing out heat damage as well but I'm super impatient 😒
Your hair is still gorgeous! Better that you went on ahead took care of it now so that you can start fresh again. Oan...that's my song you got playing, Warm Water! Love it!
i just big chopped my hair 2 months and i love it! thanks for sharing
I’m 53 and I have never had heat damage growing up when we used pressing combs and old school curling irons. I currently have heat damage from going to a local Dominican salon and having my hair roller set, under the dryer for ~ 45 minutes then hand blown dried and flat-ironed on 400 plus degrees heat. Never again.
Your hair looks so healthy now! You're so patient. I've big chopped to a twa 3 times because of heat & color damage, & a few more times because I look good with short hair. I'm going to try to grow my hair out to WL. Wigs & weaves when I want straight hair or a short cut.
Wow, so many heart warming comments that went out , thanks for putting your stories out you look beautiful and hair grows back
I'm so happy to find someone on here with the same hair texture as mine! I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your natural hair videos!
Your hair is amazing and honestly if mine stayed tame enough when it's curled, and looked like that, id stop getting it relaxed.
Love it! It is a must when dealing with damage of any sort. I tell people all the time that I rather have healthy hair over long hair any day. Good job Sweetie. I'm just glad it didn't come out jacked up lol. But I knew you could do when you were ready!
Awesome job cutting off the heat damage. Your hair is sooo CUTE!
The first minute of this video explains exactly how I feel!
Y'all comments are trash you did the right thing by cutting your damaged ends off I know the struggle of having 95% of your hair curly and then you have straight ends 😩 your whole style be messed up ... But to everyone else it's HAIR IT WILL GROW BACK!!
Gorgeous hair! I also have some heat damage but I'm trying to grow my hair out more first. Love the twist out btw! :)
it's still really long so that's good!! you look good :)
aaaaa, honestly your hair looks so cute,,im so proud of you💛💛💛
Girl, that's my soooooong!!!!! And the cut came out lovely.
for a little more clump at the roots and a little more length, start your twists with a braid for 3-4 rotations then swap and twist down to the ends 😉
Your hair looks sooo much better and it's so fucking pretty !!! Your natural hair is bomb
Looks gorgeous, and beautiful shape! It'll be back to that length by the end of the year! Keep up the good work! ❤️❤️❤️
The final results of your big chop looks beautiful.
Went to the salon for my bi weekly press and curl with a different sytlist and she said I had that the blow dry and pressing flattend my curl pattern and the only way for it to return wouldbe some cutting.
your hair looks great!😍
I thought I wouldn't like it but u done a good job. It's just so hard for me bcuz it looks like curly hard will always be a bit uneven. I've trimmed mine twice in 4 yrs!
Thank you so much for sharing! I too have heat damage in only one section of my hair. I really didn't want to cut all of my hair just because of one section. I've been natural for more than 5 years and I plan on transitioning. I just subbed. I'm gonna watch all your videos for tips on how to style!! Thanks again!!!
it looks really good. I think its very smart to realize when your hair needs cut. way to go you rock
I have some heat damage in the front too but I want to grow it out first because it's only about 3 inches grown out and I measured it the other day and it's 16 inches long. Patience is definitely the key and no excessive heat. I'm 5 months no heat right now
Same EXACT thing happened to me August 2014 and I still have straight pieces. I think this just gave me the courage to let the straight ends go.
I feel you girl ! I Just did the same yesterday ! And it feels so good I can't even explain ! 😍😍 ur hair look amazing !
I did watch to the very end of the video! I guess it doesn't really matter about it being uneven cause you won't be able to notice in its natural state! I love it overall 😊
your hair looks wonderful!!! kudos to you for letting go of those little damaged pieces. i know way too many girls that try to hang on to those for length. like girl let it go!!! lol
I love the results. I love the short in the front & long in the back style. much healthier
Your hair looks amazing! You did a wonderful job with the cut.
awwww she looks so cute with that big chop hair cut!!
