It's weird I haven't actually dubbed anything from TWEWY despite having developed a voice for Joshua about a year or two ago lol. I did do a bit of a dub of KH3D but this is the first time I've actually done something from the game he originated from! xD
Basically my take on Joshua is a bit different from the official dub. I made him more quirky, elegant, and feminine with the way he speaks, while also sounding a bit as if he's above everyone else lol. I guess the original dub does that too, but the voice itself sounded too young in my opinion.
For Neku, I kinda just used my normal voice lol. I put some attitude where I could so it matches Neku's personality in the scene though. xD

@@sockaponch I mean, the guy was standing around like an NPC in week 1watching Neku, so obviously there was something off with him from the get go.
Actually that was an error on the localization’s part. Not only is that absent in the Japanese version but they changed it in Final Remix. Would have been a nice detail otherwise.
@@redstreak9430 I mean, it does make perfect sense that he would know and would just be another level of foreshadowing just like him standing around in the background.
I never noticed Joshua kept saying Neku's name BEFORE actually asking him what's his name.
It either proves that Neku's so deep in thought he wasn't paying attention, or Joshua is using his powers to mess with Neku without him realizing.

@@La-hora-del-terror What kind of crap is that? You do realize that Joshua specifically chose Neku to play on his behalf in his wager against Kitaniji? And when I say chose, I mean shot. Even if it wasn't in the script of the Japanese version it's a worthwhile inclusion to freak out players who were paying attention.

@@La-hora-del-terror Joshua knew he was overwhelmed and wouldn't notice. Besides, so many of the interactions between Joshua and Neku are just Joshua messing with Neku's head anyways. and remember, once they form a pact, Neku is stuck with Joshua whether he likes it or not.
Have you ever read a novel or a play or consumed any piece of media with dramatic irony? Because sometimes the author likes to play with the readers who are paying attention and clue them in to things implicitly, as opposed to having a third person omniscient narrator spill the beans.
I can't help but ask, if you're so media illiterate that this is a foreign concept to you, what do you get out of the story of TWEWY that makes you care enough to do the cynical "the Japanese version was better" routine? By the way, I am 100% certain you do not know Japanese since I've seen that bullshit a million times before with varying amounts of cringe. No you don't get to sit atop the weeb dominance hierarchy today; please seek less empty aspirations.

Sonic rush songs go surprisingly well with TWEWY
Because they're fast paced and stylish
I could easily see Hideki Naganuma composing songs for the series. I guess it’s because they both use vocal samples.
Everyone is talking about the name but if you look closely, Joshua does quite a few other things behind the scenes:
"but mother and father call my Joshua, I guess you can too since you're my dear, dear, partner." Neku is too caught up in the moment to notice and Joshua is talking more about his past which shows his caring side
"I've been watching you silly, very impressive by the way." "Unlike some people, I'm new at all this." He admits to being there in the first place, then changes his story around.
"I'm expecting a bang-up job from you, mr. Escort." "I'll be fine." "Will you, wonderful. Then can we go?" Joshua is trying his outmost best to make a quick exit due to panic after the whole scanning thing but since he can't plays it cool with a distraction.
"Don't tell me you're still stuck up on the mission mail. Please it's painfully obvious, x-marks the spot 30+74, Neku. Lucky you having me as your partner." "I'm gonna choke this kid" Take note they haven't even discussed or tried to look at the mission mail yet and now the only thing on Neku's mind is annoyance and of course like already stated he doesn't notice his name being called either.
I...I am absolutely stunned. Your voice acting was spot on. You need to do the entire game. I thought it was interesting how you portrayed Joshua. He reminded me of Orihara Izaya from Durarara. Also, any particular reason why you didn't use the in-game music the entire time?

@@trearoosNot exactly, Komaeda's motivation is hope while Joshua's motive was destruction (as his misanthropic side causes it)
I have been Joshua's kin for a while, but there are a few differences between them
Idk if you watched the neo twewy or not but spoiler alert, one of the secret endings says he used to fall victim to humanity's irrationality as Hazuki said in one of their conversations. Because of that, some character traits of him haven't changed a lot even after the twewy timeline. Instead of changing for the better, he still stays the same but his mindset was distorted altogether.
Well, his behavior did change during his time together with Neku talking to him, although there's a little hope for that. It's still impossible.
Maybe the twewy season 3 game might explain that, who knows when will they release it tbh

I relate to him a lot, it's not like I hate him or anything but the way his characteristics speaks to me was enchanting.
Despite my different common interest like him, we would get along easily If I wasn't INFJ and him being ENTP.... Hahaha.
We both share the deep sentiment about misanthrope and isolation after all

unfortunately the name slip up only happened in the English versions of the game, imagine if it were in the Japanese ones, though...
Please, please PLEASE continue this! This game deserves SO much more recognition then it gets and you truly do it justice! I'd love to see a full series of this and, if possible, would love to be a part of the voice acting, perhaps as Rhyme if you'll even consider such an idea!!!

The Neku voice in this is perfect! The Joshua voice could use a little work making him sound higher and more creepy in my opinion though!

Because he already knows who Neku is and that's a giant hint that he's the Composer of Shibuya, that's why.

Ah this was sort of like an updated port called The World Ends With You: Solo Remix with higher quality sprites, different gameplay, and a few new stuff released for the Ipad and Iphone.

One of the perfect voice impressions on Neku. It’s exactly how a 15yo should sound like but with a little bit of a low voice.

I dabble in a better voice acting myself and if you would like I could collaborate with you if you need a female partner that is. I'll be happy to help my memory and talents are spot on as well as Joshua's advice, you could say that I am like him in a way.
