@MartyDudeVR I have AT&T as well. Fiber in fact. You absolutely can use your own router with their service. You just log into their gateway and turn off the router function then install the router behind the gateway and configure as normal. Have that setup at home with a TP-Link WiFi6 6000 router and AT&T’s older fiber gateway.

Yes, I am interested in the specifications of the Quest 4 and will they still stick with the same type of pancake lenses or go to OLED. They will be doing a high and low end versions of the Quest 4.
Time shall Tell if this would be a good upgrade to go to. Plus there will be other VR headsets that maybe a better choice. VR Technology does not stand still.

I still think if you’re talking about all around experience, the Quest is the better head set (on board games, huge PC support, better lenses, wireless, pancake lenses) but the PSVR 2 on its own with a PS5 was the best, most immersive gameplay experience I’ve had with VR to date. There’s nothing quite like those OLED lenses with eye tracking and HDR on Gran Turismo 7. I have both and find myself going back and forth with both of them.

Good comparison. I think one of the big factors is if you have a PS5 or not. If you do, the PSVR2 is more attractive since you get a headset for 2 platforms. If you don't, the Quest 3 might be better to have access to standalone VR that's more portable if you want to take it to friends houses.
And of course if you've already got a PSVR2 for your PS5, the adaptor is a great value for making it PC compatable.

Thanks for the awesome review. Best one I’ve seen so far. Strongly considering the PSVR2. I do have a couple questions but let me briefly explain my use case because it’s rather unique, maybe there’s a better option I’m not aware of and maybe someone else out there similar to myself is also struggling.
I’m a truck driver, I’m on the road 2-4 weeks at a time. I’m also a long time competitive FPS player and a patient Star Citizen hopeful.
My laptop screen was too small and cumbersome so I started looking into HMDs primarily as a monitor replacement. This first led me to the XReal Air 2. Its simplicity, no software, high pixel density was a dream. However the edge to edge clarity was lacking, the screen was still too small and the head tracking hack for sims was constantly losing zero.
I returned those which led me to what I’m currently using, the Quest 3. As my first ever VR headset I was blown away. However issues kept creeping in. The biggest of them being the input latency. It wasn’t as noticeable playing a proper VR game like Half Life Alyx but playing a game with mouse and keyboard is extremely rough. I got my input lag down to 24ms after about a MONTH of tweaking but still not sufficient. The compression thing really sucks.
With the release of the PSVR2 adapter it has led me in this direction. The DPVR E4 seems to lack in features for the same price.
    Now my questions:
Can I charge the PSVR2 while playing?
Can I use it as a direct display through Nvidia control panel?
If not, can I use Virtual Desktop to play flat screen games with reduced latency?
    Thanks!

    • @MartydudeVR
      @MartydudeVR  Місяць тому +1

@@Crittek Hey! Since the PSVR2 is a direct display port input, there's absolutely no latency. If your laptop has USB 3.0 and a Displayport then I'd definitely go PSVR2 for a no latency experience

Well, I bought a quest 3 after thinking so long, it's gonna come this week. I have a ps5 and could buy a psvr2, but quest 3 is more than a vr to play games, you can much more, as emulation, no cable, using on your bed, put mods and these things called my attention. It doesnt have the best graphics, but soon, the devolpers gonna reach the limits of this hardware, i belive. After some years when psvr2 being cheapest, I buy it, but for now, I choose quest 3

I feel both headsets are suitable for playing games on the PC. I have had the Quest 3 long before this adapter module cane out and the Quest 3 does a great job of visually running my SIM racing and Action shooter games. I do not need to buy another headset at this time.
Now, it is just up to the VR buyer which one to choose to play games on a PC computer and how much they are willing to spend for VR. Just do your homework and watch allot of comparison videos to determine which one is better to play the games you have. That is what I did before I bought the Quest 3 end of last year.

Would you still recommend MQ3 for sim racing now? That's what I want to use VR for too.
But better fov and low latency both sound like things id want in my sims including in warthunder.
If the resolution was still good enough that id not be bothered by it, then i might go psvr2 instead now.

I have both because people were saying PSVR2 is so good etc and tbh it feels a bit cheap it has plastic lenses where my quest 3 has glass lenses and it just feels like a more premium product the quest 3 but as for visual quality they are about the same. and I mainly bought the PSVR2 because I hate seeing battery go down. But then you have the exact same problem with the PSVR2 controllees. Plus the Mura is terrible on the PSVR2 I was shocked how bad it is. like looking through lint cloth sometimes. It pretty much is literally lint cloth behind the lenses. They were trying to hide the horrid screen door effect of the displays they chose. It was not a great choice by Sony. From what I read, this was delayed by COVID and might have made more sense when released early in Quest 2 lifecycle.

Just an FYI. Wi-Fi 5 stands for 5th generation. Not 5ghz. WiFi 6 stands for 6th generation, not 6ghz.
They both run in 2.4ghz and 5ghz. But it’s just comparing the 802.11ac vs 802.11ax standards.
Essentially it just means that wifi 6 can push almost 3x the bandwidth throughput over WiFi 5.
Granted, there are certain routers ( especially on WiFi 6E and Wifi 7 systems) that use tri band with the added 6ghz frequency. But those are a bit rare as of now for standard users out there. Also, most devices don’t even have a receiving antenna to utilize it.
Anyway, great review man. But I hope I provided a little extra knowledge for ya.

One thing a lot of people aren't focusing about is the support Hz. PSVR2 only supports 90hz and 120hz. Which are the ideal HZ to plays VR but as we know not everyone can reach that high of a frame rate with their setup. I think this is more important than alot of people think. Quest3 supports 72hz, 80hz, 90hz and 120hz. By being able to lower the FPS to 72hz this allows you to choose clarity and run games you might not be able to run.

    • @chan13153
      @chan13153 Місяць тому

And 72hz and 80hz are mostly fine to play VR. Just not as smooth as 90 or 120 but they work just fine. And its better to have the 72hz and 80hz option when needed than it is to not have the option
This hurt PSVR2 when it came to the PS5 aswell. One of the biggest complaint was games was using reprojection to hit 120fps. A much better solution than doing reprojection was 72hz. 72fps is much better than 60fps reprojected to 120fps.

I have both. The PSVR2 is worse in a lot of areas for me than compared to the Quest 3.
The comfort of the PSVR2 is way worse, though my Quest 3 uses a 3rd party head strap. My huge ass nose gets pinched by the lenses and to get a clear image I have to tighten the headset in a way that just feels uncomfortable. I love the OLED colors and deep blacks, but the perceived lower resolution, black smearing and chromatic aberration I get ruin it.
I had no issues with the setup and the controllers track fairly well, but the batteries lasted about 2 days before I had to charge them again. Compared to my Quest 3 that I still haven't replaced the batteries for. The PSVR2 controllers are also annoying to "get on". Anyway, I'm gonna sell my PSVR2.

I think if you want standalone VR the Quest 3 is the best choice, but if you want the best visuals with the most impact while playing games like Half Life Alyx the PSVR2 with its OLED displays and its artifact free lossless displayport streaming technology is the clear winner not just against the Quest 3 but against any none local dimming LCD equipped PCVR headset,.
Even the bigscreen beyond does not really compete because even though it has OLED displays it suffers from lens glare problems and a noticeably smaller FOV its also $1600 with controllers, the Pimax Crystal headsets are ridiculously oversized for the FOV that they provide.
But like you say there are also some truly spectacular PSVR2 exclusives to play on the PS5 that you will only find on the PS5, the digital version of the PS5 is so chap these days, it is also 5 times more powerful than a Quest 3 and that is before you engage the DFR technology, when DFR is engaged the power of the PSVR2 jumps by a factor of 3.6X so is similar in power to an RTX3090, this is why No Mans Sky looks and plays so well on the PSVR2.but is difficult to run well on a high end PC, which says a lot in itself.
I think Sony have a great product on their hands with the PSVR, PC compatibility is just the sweet icing on the cake.

@@Momotaro0125 Not biased just more impressed by the PSVR2, and I put it at number 1 by a long way.
Its not just the Micro OLED displays and Displayport technology, but its that perfect resolution for a great VR experience with zero artifacting and without the need to upgrade the PC to drive those beautiful Micro OLED displays, Sony have not even turned on the HDR feature yet.
You could plug the PSVR2 to the last Gen GPU and still get a great experience at its native resolution, but you cannot do that with a Pimax Crystal you will need at least a 4090 to run that headset at is native resolution on high details, so that is why the PSVR2 is the number 1 PCVR headset to buy right now, it just makes a lot of sense.
Not forgetting there are the exclusive PSVR2 games if you have a PS5 including the definitive version of No Mans Sky which uses eye tracking technology on the PSVR2, what is not to like?

@@techinfusions Ok, I see. You're misinformed and definitely never owned the other 3 headsets.
PSVR2 doesn't have a MicroOLED display. It has OLED but not Micro. BSB has MicroOLED displays. This is why PSVR2 has a bad mura problem and none on the BSB.
BSB also has a wider sweet spot due to the pancake lenses. Nowhere near as good as the Quest 3 edge to edge clarity but it's about 40% better than the PSVR2. You do need the foam mask to fit perfectly though, otherwise the sweet spot can be almost as bad as the PSVR2.
PML also has no mura. Better sweet spot than BSB but not as good as Quest 3. The higher resolution is an option not a requirement, it'll be as clear as PSVR2 using the same resolution. It also has OLEDs. Main flaw with it, is weight.
Quest 3 is by far the clearest and widest sweet spot, covering about 85-90% of the screen. It has LCD panels so pretty bad color and black. Since it's LCD, no mura, unless defect.
Reason why PSVR2 is at the bottom of the 4 for me, is mainly due to the horrible 10 years+ old lenses. Come with them, the terrible sweet spot. Immersion breaking mura, and just bad as BSB, lens glare.
Source: I've owned 3 of the 4 and have used PML a few times from a friend.

I let my eyes do the homework, because that is all that really matters.
I am seeing many committed Quest 3 fanboys like yourself fall at the feet of the PSVR2 and declare it the new king of PCVR headsets, they are finding that the lossless display port video stream and lack of artifacts to be a revelation, many are replaying their old PCVR classics all over again because they feel like they are really seeing their games for the very first time, comments like "this feels like a whole new experience" are common..
The Big Screen Beyond has really bad lens glare problems with its pancake lenses they also suck the light out of oled displays so not as vibrant as the PSVR2 lenses, and at $1600 with the controller that very expensive.
The Quest 3 suffers the same light loss issues through itss pancake lenses why did Meta cheap out on the local dimming LCD displays of the Quest Pro? very disappointing, almost as bad as the lack of a displayport.
Fresnel lenses are made for OLED they hold the light really nicely, and the sweet spot is just nice unless you are lazy and upset easy, but once you are in the sweet spot the edge to edge clarity is easily as good as any Pancake lens.
You must never have experienced No Mans Sky on the PSVR2 to say that its lenses are horrible that sounds like uniformed hate speech to me.
How long have you been beaming those powerful 4k wifi signals to that head mounted receiver, are they starting to effect your judgment?

Second it's mixed reality which offers capabilities like Apple Vision Pro

This is my totally unbiased opinion here and I'll start by saying, i strongly dislike Meta in general but:
I vastly prefer the Meta Quest 3 over the PSVR2. Yes, the PSVR2 has OLED tech and I tremendously prefer this over LCD. But the sweet spot was easy for me to accomplish, but more importantly, much harder to maintain over the Quest 3.
I'll also add that, for the main game that I play which is Paradiddle VR (a literally drum sim) for some reason it just felt really weird to play with the Sense controllers. But the Q3 controllers felt great. I want to note that I didnt have any tracking issues at all with the PSVR2. It was buttery smooth and no jittering.
I cant really explain why the sense controllers felt bad for drumming. It just didnt feel natural at all.
Ill take the lens glare over the smudgy image quality on the PSVR2 despite having much better colors.

I like this review Marty, but you are like some of us enthusiasts. I have a vive pro, cosmos elite and a psvr2, the first two i have added the lens mod to, the psvr2 sits a lot but I am going to try the pcvr side of it when an adapter is available, they are sold out everywhere. My vive pro and cosmos elite are unbeatable in resolution and clarity and the fov matches the psvr 2 almost, I've owned almost all vr headsets and these are the ones I've stuck with, the psvr2 was more or less a trade deal I did with my brother, it was a huge disappointment for us in the VR world. If you haven't had a vive pro, cosmos elite with the gear lens mod then you have no idea what crazy good vr is like. I run a 4080 super , 13900k pc with mine and close or far the clarity is always clear, there is almost no sweet spot, no ghosting, and no glare, it is as perfect as I've seen vr.

In my experience even Wi-Fi 5 is fine as long as the PC is connected with the Ethernet cable to the Quest’s access point. That’s way more important than the Wi-Fi version (as long as it’s not using 2.4 GHz).
Regarding Air Link since you haven't been using it in a while… FYI, it got much better so it's worth checking but since everyone’s conditions are different, your results may vary. Sony all the way. Quest is just trying. Watch how sony role out with another vrhead set 3 years from now and make everyone jaw drop. 8k with the deepest blacks, wireless and very small over your eyes or prolly so.e things you slide over your eye balls
