Good job showing telling, I just got me a sawmill that you put your saw in like you got. Well wish me luck doing okay with it so see ya by and thanks for showing have a good one see ya by.
Good show man. When I bring logs home, I wash them with the hose. A good rince saves me time for sure. I drag logs out of the woods to the trailer to load. They get dirty. Get a winch.
Thanks for the effort you put into this video. Liked your simple chainsaw jig and emphasizing the usefulness of overhang on the first cut ladder/rails. Thumbs up.
The setup of first cut seems to be the most varied aspect of chainsaw milling. Everyone does something just a little differently. I like what you did here.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Titan Austin i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Man, I saw that slip on the head of that screw coming. I think we've all done that, I was like "Dude, move your fingers further from that" and then slip it happened. Ouch!!! Great job on the first cut, wanted to see all the slabs you took off of this log.
Your ladder shifted because the rubber Bungees stretched from pushing the mill sled. Rather than 2 bungee cords -- why not 2 one to two inch wide ratchet straps from rung, under log, back to the other side of the same rung. If the hooks don't span the rungs a very short chain to go around the rung then bungee hook to the chain links. Solid.
if you put two screws right on your line and set your board on it it might be easier to screw in your guide board with your tremor, or for anyone trying to do something one handed :-) Nice instructional video. Thanks for sharing.
If you know for sure that your ladder is squared away you could screw on the first cut ladder supports 2x4. Then lay the ladder on and screw the second 2x4 with the ladder doing the leveling. ? Bubble levels are not exact. Would be a bit cumbersome, but doable. I
On small mills (24 inch and under) 3/8 .050 and I've found any ripping chain brand performs about the same. On my larger mills (36 to 96) '.404 skip semi chisel ground to zero degrees.
As an 83 yr old Newby, I found your presentation very informative.
Tx & God Bless
Great Real World Video. Just bought an Alaskan Sawmill and it really will Help me out. Plan on using your tips in Late November
Nice demonstration. The measuring from center and leveling was what I needed
Wish i had access to wood like you have, im stuck with conifer and spruce in my area.
Just getting started as a hobby. Thanks for sharing.

@Titan Austin it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
@Zayd Elijah You are welcome xD

I saw it coming too. Ouch
I like the tip about using the existing pulley from the extension ladder, for your winch cord. And the bungee cord is a great idea too.

Earned my subscription through pain, ouch, keep on going! Cheers
Great video!! Helped greatly!! Sorry about the finger...done that MANY times! God Bless!
Thanks for the setup instructions as I have a large twin Red Oak that should be down soon and was wondering how to do the first cut.
Good luck I hope it works out well for you.
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for the explanation!
Great video. It makes me want to try!!
Great video, hope your hand heals up.

Thanks for taking the time to post this!
When mounting your 2x4 guide drive two nails on opposite sides of line creating a ledge & set 2x4 on them THEN screw board into log
Well done. Lots of good info.
a gusher, hahahahaha. nice one. I am familiar with that one for sure.
Is that Wurtsboro,NY?
Could you possibly have predrilled holes in your 2x4 so that the screw would have easily passed through?
Good info and everything else. TY!
Put a couple of nails on your line to support your board before screwing it on no more screwing around trying to keep it level while screwing board on
Good idea.
Thats why you use torx heads lol

Try pre drilling the 2x4
Dude I felt that Finger shot with the screw gun 😮 that Fucker right there hurt just a little huh!!! Been there done it × 20. Thanks for the laugh 😂
I saw that bit in the finger thing coming. You really should keep your hand on the throttle with slight upward pressure.
Thanks for the video bud!
I’m thinking you need a screw guide. Has a sleeve that fits over the bit & screw, slides back as you drive the screw. Safe for fingers.
What type chainsaw chain did you use?

Metal detector for nails?
You might just use superglue for small lacerations and evulsions, leaving a small section open for drainage of wound. Then sanitize area.
Add 2 more things paper towel & masking or duck tape for the oops.
Tremors really do suck! I've ran drill tips in my fingers to getting shocked with electricity from my hands shaking!
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
That’s why it is a good practice to wear leather gloves when doing hazardous things.😂
Saw that coming as soon as he held that piece against the log😂😂
My problem is within 5 minutes of putting gloves on, I inevitably need my fingers for something so off goes the right glove!
Yep😢
screw the screw till it sticks out the other side 1/2" then tap it in with a hammer.
come on jake work smarter not harder.
30 minutes of prep each cut.
U shud keep cyanoacrylate on hand to glue up your cuts or injuries. Works wonders!
Philips head, should be illegal.
Thanks for not editing, keeping it real life..
Screw towards your chum not your thumb!
why are you putting nails on the ground? It's the small things!
