You had me at "I grew up with Warcraft and Command and Conquer". I'm a child of the 80s/90s and RTSs were my jam. Like you, I lament the fact that the genre is so absent in VR! Seems like the best platform for a second RTS renaissance
I’m a huge fan of this genre, I wish there were more options particularly for standalone. Brass Tactics remains one of my top 10 VR games. This looks closer to Final Assault though, which is fine because I love that game too so I’ll definitely try this out. One thing that I’ve found from my recent obsession with Glassbreakers (and to a lesser degree with Ghost Signal) is that the more tactile the control system the more engaging the gameplay becomes. Rather than pointing a unit to where you want them, actually dragging them over is way more fun. It feels more like moving toys around when you were a kid. Add a Demeo style ability to easily control the scale and view of the battlefield and suddenly things become a lot more immersive and a lot more interesting.
ok i absolutely love this game.... its simple but beautiful and charming ! and i love the home ship, esp the Christmas tree behind you on the deck (hope the option is there to keep it after Christmas is over, love Christmas themes).... it is alot like "Toy Clash" back on the Gear VR or Quest Go, but that was actually top 5 games for those platforms so thats a good thing, it also looks like theyre adding PassThrough at some point... yes its short but thats great in VR... ive enough on my hands with Asgards Wrath for there to be anymore big titles at least for another 2 years ! This is a pick up and play for a quick VR fix, just hope they add base building features at some point but either way, its great even as it is !
I think the most direct comparison for this (and likely the inspiration) is Clash Royale. I was considering building a Clash Royale like game for VR so this intrigues me
I made a game just like this a while ago and posted a video of it. It's really cool that somebody else had almost the exact same idea and turned it into a more polished game.
very interested in the game, though i've never played an RTS before. it could turn into something really awesome if they add in those extra mechanics you talked about(resource gathering, etc). will have to wait and see upon release.
I just started playing this, and it's pretty good. Recently I've gone back to playing Landfall on the PC, but since they removed it from the Rift store and stopped the multiplayer, it's pretty limited in what you can do. This fills that gap nicely. It's graphically pretty nice for a Quest game too.
as a huge CnC fan, this was an immediate download (downloading as i type), RTS needs base building so i hope its there or coming in the future, thanks for finding this, im really excited to play this once its downloaded... im very forgiving for developers trying something out so im certain i will love it and look forward to its progress ! will play shortly and will prob come back to give my feedback BTW, glad to see your swelling form the opp has gone down, (or was this recorded b4 the opp took place?
Just purchased, interested in seeing how it plays later. The trailer straight up looked like Halo Wars or Halo from an RTS perspective, with units looking like the Grunts infantry and the Shade gun emplacements firing around the map, so I'm hyped!
Think capturing resources and defending resources is a great way to create interesting tactics, skillset that comes from gathering those resources will be spandex scope of ways to immerse into game
Enjoy it, if the gameplay was brass tactics with more scale it would be amazing. So much potential for rts in vr that is teased in a game like guardians frontline
To anyone planning to make an RTS game in VR: Please, STOP IMITATING FLATSCREEN RTS GAME MECHANICS. To quote Mr. VR Voice: "If something is a great flatscreen mechanic, it's likely not an ideal VR mechanic". Perspectives such as the "war room general" or "commander in a helicopter" that we know from flatscreen are OK, but imagine this: Being a commander or squad leader in first/third person down on the ground, trying to frantically command your troops using gestures but dealing with the chaos on the battlefield. A bit like what you do in Brütal Legend or in Myth: Soulblighter, but this time you can do it in first person, e.g. roleplaying as Alexander the Great. I'm convinced there is new ground to cover here!
I think Barbaria is on to something with the perspective switching between commander-in-the-sky and soldier-on-the-ground, although I still think there is room for a game which does the commander-on-the-ground-in-first-person as well.
Instead of playing Arizona sunshine 2, assassins creed nexus, asgards wrath 2 or resident evil 4 I have been addicted to this game. It is not real deep or advanced but it has a great game loop. I need to unlock everything….
I've tried a lot of VR strategy games on steam, but have yet to find a true RTS in VR. Understandable it's a niche within a niche. At some point you just have to do it yourself, I guess. 🤔
FInal Assault would be a great game on the Quest. Final Assault was my first VR game when I first got my reverb g2 and it's a blast. This game looks like it plays somewhat similarly.
@@ksptm4 I think this genre might be best described as "tug-of-war strategy". If you've ever played Warpips on the PC, this is very similar to that game, except in 3d. I don't think it's "click bait" to refer to this as RTS; tug-of-war strategy is basically a slimmed-down form of RTS, or perhaps you could say it's a cousin of both RTS and MOBA games.
Too small. The map is like the size of a large dinner table it's not so epic like the RTS games I've played. I understand the limitations, but it needs to be on a larger map to allow strategic maneuvers and tactics. Maybe miniaturized the units more, but give them greater detail when you zoom in. My favorite RTS games were Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander FA and BAR (Beyond All Reason).
"No base building, resource gathering, and limited to lanes" Ok, so its tower defense, not RTS. this sounds more like plants vs zombies than command and conquer
So awesome, it looks fantastic! So, since PC VR isn't the main focus for VR anymore is there any chance it will get a PC version or at least work on PC?

Having RTS games back is truly delightful.

Wow, it's thrilling! The expansion adds an extra layer of excitement.
Amazing news! Quest 3 with an expansion is truly fantastic.
Brass tactics was so much fun on PCVR. I grew up on rst and still play Age of Empires but I think VR is a much better platform for RTS.
Looks good. I was thinking that on VR you can actually play on spheric or all around an asteroid worlds.
The return of RTS games adds a lot of fun.

omg, I love me some RTS and I hope we can see more in this genre.

RTS games returning on Quest 3 are fantastic.
I made a game just like this a while ago and posted a video of it. It's really cool that somebody else had almost the exact same idea and turned it into a more polished game.
It's more like a MOBA without heroes but I like it so far.
true
Don’t kno why so much hate, this is great. It’s good way to keep people pulled into something new and those chasing something nostalgic
Once these types of games hit accessible AR. It will change everything. I CANNOT wait.

I love the newer RTS games. This gives me the same vibes as Skyworld Kingdom Brawl. I’ll have to give this a try.
The return of RTS games on Quest 3 is cool.
Think capturing resources and defending resources is a great way to create interesting tactics, skillset that comes from gathering those resources will be spandex scope of ways to immerse into game
The news of RTS games on Quest 3 is very exciting.
I would kill for a new Dungeon keeper game from the people that made Demeo ❤️
The expansion makes Quest 3 even more enticing.
Enjoy it, if the gameplay was brass tactics with more scale it would be amazing. So much potential for rts in vr that is teased in a game like guardians frontline

It's like Demeo but with red alert style. I will definitely buy it 💯

I just wish they'd port Brass Tactics on the Quest. This or Final Assault would be sooo good.

Looks pretty fun
I would love to play Civilization 6 and Age of Empires 2 VR remakes in mixed reality on Table Top.
4x games in VR would probably work. They are like board games anyways. I doubt we would get one, but I'd be all over it.
I have Final Assault on PSVR. It's a lot of fun, so I'm sure this will be similar
Looks like an automated moba like Warcraft rumble more then rts but seems like it could be fun still
Meta needs to add Final Assault.
FInal Assault would be a great game on the Quest. Final Assault was my first VR game when I first got my reverb g2 and it's a blast. This game looks like it plays somewhat similarly.
Are rts games big in quest 3?
Command and conquer are my favorite franchise.
they're not common at all
I played Gears Tactics on Game Pass woth Quest 3. It was amazing
Gears tactics was solid
Ok anyone else think how cool a game like Black and White 2 would be on VR?
Yes it would
How can you play single mode? i dont see much pl
online
the option to play SP is right there on the menu
Why can't I find this on this meta quest app
Thanks for the content just subscribed 🎉

I just want to know if I can play starcraft 2 with stereoscopic 3d.
not yet
it sounds like youre describing Final Assault
Very similar
RTS? It's crazy what people call a strategy game nowadays. This is more tower-defense than anything strategic.
Spot on. Click bait title. Anymore and il unsub

Could be fun anyhow but the visuals made me want to go back to play Beyond All Reason (free clone of Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander)
@@quidnunc01It would be interesting to have BAR have a VR option.
Tower defense is a niche category within RTS games...
no MR Mode?
Too small. The map is like the size of a large dinner table it's not so epic like the RTS games I've played. "No base building, resource gathering, and limited to lanes"
Ok, so its tower defense, not RTS. this sounds more like plants vs zombies than command and conquer
It better be cheap because VR is not enough for me to want to play this instead of the cheap and excellent Rusted Warfare.
This is so skibidee toilet 🚽
So awesome, it looks fantastic! So, since PC VR isn't the main focus for VR anymore is there any chance it will get a PC version or at least work on PC?
The return of RTS games on Quest 3 is cool.
