Digital Dash MX5 Miata Arduino Custom TFT Cockpit

- My initial design for the roadster's TFT cluster, Using a similar design language to compliment my roadster's TFT Touchscreen project. (second JDM inspired design here: • MX5 Miata Arduino JDM ... )
Using the primary speedo position to show both speed and RPM, along with clearly legible font sizes for critical info.
I've implemented sequential indicators within the cluster (complimenting the exterior full sequential indicators), and utilised the existing odometer reset button with a rotary encoder switch. Each click from it's rotation adjusts the cluster brightness, (along side with being electrically dimmed via headlights). Pressing the switch also resets the total trip meter.
The rotary encoder fits perfectly in the bezel, sitting ahead of the screen and capped off with a black adjustment knob with a chrome ring, complimenting the OEM cluster bezel neatly.
Trip meter, day trip meter and odometer values are stored in eeprom, and count km fully independent of each other.
The lower centre display i need to figure out what to put there, the size is small so it can only be basic instrumentation, may likely go with cabin temp/exterior temp displays
The left hand side will need revision with additional graphics and stylising but as it stands is functional and legible at a standard seating position.
The LCD has a surprisingly wide viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, much more so then the 7" screen im using for my touch controller. - Авто та транспорт
Just tell me where to mail the cheque
You gotta start selling these. People will be queuing up, myself included!
By far the best custom arduino complete cluster I've found on UA-cam thus far 👏
If you won’t make em can you throw some code and how to’s out? From these comments there is definately want for this stuff lol
Yeah I find these videos very frustrating.
Like, yeah its super cool, but I really want to see it being made, or at least how it works.
This guy isn't sharing anything, just after the fame.
normally I don't really like digital displays on older cars but this is sick! I want one bad!
Oh my god man you make me wanna customise my car so bad like this I need to learn to do this because this is amazing
Mannn ... one of the best diy set ups ive ever seen. Ive always wanted a build for this on my s15..
You have no idea how many weeks ive been looking into a really nice digital setup. And they just dont exist. And then bam I find this video. And my r33 gtr needs it bad. Real bad.
Simply, a genius!
Really cool man, nice project!
Dutch miata dad spotted!
Great project!! It is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn this looks dope!
I literally want everything this dood makes :(
I would love this for my Mazda 6 from 2009 😁
Bro this is sick
Looks good now the Fuel and Temp Display ^^
I have to say this is very impressive especially the touch screen menu you showed prior. How did you learn the vehicle switches and sensor info or data for which they send to capture it? Ever consider writing an instructable or a Wiki on the full setup? Before you know it someone is going to try and buy the info from you. lol Thanks for sharing for sure. Please keep up the inspiring work.
Very cool- I’d love to be able to do this for my antiquated cluster on my 2008 Audi... but I know nothing about programming. 😪
Damn this is amazing
Great work I love this
OOOOOOOOOHHH this is awesome. I'm so motivated to do this in my MR2 MK1.
How a Car Works, Would you be able to show us the process on your series?
Would kill for this in my 1997 MX-6.
That looks stunning, but would be hell on a track. You don’t have time to sweep that many gauges on a racetrack. Maybe implement a secondary track mode that cleans everything up and makes it less cluttered. Only need tach, oil, and water on a track. Oh, and gas gauge.
This is amazing
Cool project! What kind of screen are you using? It's bright and the viewing angle is great. I'd love to do the same to my car.
This is some Tony Stark shiet! You just got a new subscriber sir! Make this into production I NEED ONE!
Would that screen work with a polarized lens? I've found most screens don't play well with polarized sunglasses, the only ones that work are OLED screens.
Nice. A lot of Star Trek influence.
I need this like yesterday
Would love to know what TFT display/displays that were used
Waaau, thats so cool, really nice project man. Im thinking about three classic gauges (Oil, Water) with small 256x256 SPI TFT, but this one is crazy. Do you use Nextion GUI?
This is how the instrument cluster of my Prius should have been! XD
My god it’s pretty.
Awesome!
sir... can you please tell me what are you using to make the gauge or animation? raspberry pi?? arduino?? QT design???
Amazing.
Ready!
fast refresh rate and a custom digital made dash . that is a win right there. Can this be done with another vehicle in mind?
Please publish a how to and what kit you use.
That screen is amazing and nothing I see or do will ever be good enough!
Holy Fuck - This is awesome!
This is great. What exactly is the used display?
Is this still based on an Arduino and I'm guessing one 7" LCD behind the OE bezel?
If so, that's exactly what I'm trying to do with a Nextion display. Can you tell me what screen and program you used to write this because I'd really rather not have to upload a ton of bitmaps to make mine work.
Thanks in advance
Please, can you Tell me whath kind of display are you using?
I know it’s been years sense this amazing video was up but I was wondering if there is anyway possible for the right price you to make one for my Miata build!
I need this for my 240sx
You use Arduino and “nextion” tft? Or raspberry pi and another tft? Thanks for answer
Where can I buy the Miata tail lights that u made ?
Do you have a git repo/blog/post about the details behind this? Thanks!
I would totally buy something like this. Have you thought about a partnering with MX5 Digital?
Hi, is there anymore videos of how you made these
Very goog!!!
I have been looking for a similar project. I own a 2017 Beetle, and it has 3 round gauges in which I'd love to put screens connected to a system that used OBD2. Could I get in touch with you to talk about this project?
Howdy! Where did you source the screens?
Great Jobs! have you a link for details of this project, im interested!
Are they for sale? Or can you show how you made?
Just tell me how much and where to pay for it
I need to make this for both of my cars, please guide me the right way haha damn
Do you have a link to github?
Is there a chance for a write-up of how you did that?
Also, good music choice :D
That def would fit in a Ek civic how much?
What UI software did you use for your designs?
@jroobi hi I was wondering if you could answer a technical question?
Any plans to release the code on github? Or build guides/how to's?
I have been looking for an open OBD2 customizable gauge replacement that can be skinned. If you know of a project let me know I'd contribute.
woooo
What TFT(s) are you using?
How much for a turbo nb 2003
Are they separate LCD displays? I can’t imagine arduoni displays run that big..
Will these work on a NB2 Miata?
please for the love of everything holy, please please tell me you have this documented somewhere...a tutorial, a video!? This stuff is over my head but I want to do it so bad to my Lotus Esprit.
Wow this is awesome, where can i get it?
Is possible to buy? Thank you
Dude where do i buy one
Is this available for theND?
I’ll buy one
How did you code the graphic was it done manually in IDE or did you design UI and converter that into Arduino code??
I want to buy it! Can you make it in Miata NB. 1999?
I want one - where can I buy the unit?
which brand panel bro tft ?
any store to buy this?
Thats awesome! I am interested for my car. Where can I email to you?
Awaiting this mod. from belgium. Please make some updates.
Are you planning to sell it?
WANT!
This 2 lcd or just 1 ?
how did you do the gear numbered gears? Limit switches?
This could be easy calculated using gear ratio speed and rpm.
@@fran6c Thats a very clever idea.
I need this
Take my money
What are you using for your graphics controller & screens? Are they 4dsystems screens?
It's using the UTFT Graphics library for Arduino.
Jroobi Impressive! Amazing work. Can you point me in the direction of the screen you’re using? The resolution is awesome
Are you going to sell?
Take my Monday
Arduino only, or is there a different computer involved? What display u using
Please post a how-to video
miata is all analog how do you connect your car/engine to your dasboard/arduino
Gauges appear analog but what drives them is 100% digital
@@ChristianMulkey except the speedo. They're still cable-driven on first gen Miatas. Also oil pressure, coolant temp, and fuel level are all analog signals. Still easy to parse with an Arduino, but they aren't digital
@@ABusFullaJewz Really. I did not know that. Thanks for correcting and educating me.
Take my money.
Please tell me you've got a github for this?
Ok, I'm in. How much?
Can u plz snd me the code
Where do you get the data from? I guess there's no OBD on Miatas :D
ODB1 started in 1994 and ODB2 in 1997. The Miatas started in 1989 and are still being made.
Definitely have OBD on my 96
What's happening with this project? 😯
Make this for the Honda S2000
