I managed to find this one with a decent discount so thought it time to revisit the CASIO G-SHOCK GA-B2100-1AER, has it matured?

I've had the yellow one for just over 12 months. Love it. Don't do too much messing about with the buttons. The app was pretty clunky when I first got it, but seems to've improved over the last few months. Only use it once a week to sync the time from my phone so I know the watch is as accurate as possible.
Still love wearing and using it. I was 50/50 between going for the black one with the positive display and the yellow one.

Looks cool. Like the little 'Bluetooth' logo in blue. Have the basic GA-2100/5611 so its nice seeing the much more functional version.
Is the Casio App being deleted? I have recently had a few messages asking me to transfer to something else, but I have not really looked into it yet.

I think you bring up a good point. Casio has been "streamlining" their designs so that more of them are similar. Dare I say that older Casio's were made better? They where definitely more diverse in features. Have a great weekend!

Interesting you mentioned about the seals around the bezel, I just got the GAB-2100. When it arrived it was a very cold and damp. It was outside the door for hours. When I brought it in and opened I saw condensation on the crystal. I thought it was on the outside, but after thinking about it some might have been on the inside of the case(?) I'm going to take a closer look at the case, etc.

I think they are cased in China...🤔
I just bought the new Hidden Glow 6900 and the box was the same, so probably not a mix up.

I’d rather have the non-Bluetooth version since it has a day-of-the-week dial. It peeves me that they changed the dial to point to the functions.

I like the day feature as well. However the solar and Bluetooth outweigh that feature for me.
Somehow I've ended up with three GA-B2100s. Black, yellow, and blue with neg display. Perfect daily beaters. Pretty viceless, especially given the money they don't cost - rarely use any of the functions, so they're essentially a basic 3 hander for me.
The other Gs kicking about the house are: a classic 5610, triple sensor Rangeman, and the magnificent GMW-B5000-1ER. To be honest, the 5000 is a superb thing for the money, and has replaced my mechanicals for general 'going somewhere' watch.
Regards the Casio range - agree with that there's very little appealing/interesting in the range now. Rangeman and Mudmaster have morphed into a Garmin-alike. Gulf and Gravity gone. And in the traditional square part of the catalogue they keep churning them out in a variety of colours and designs, but insist on the shitty basic module.
Since the GMW-B5000 arrived, I've only got the MR-Gs to aspire to.

@@thetimebombardier the GMW is amazing in every sense of the word. It's subtle, obvious, tacky, refined, silly, and yet completely sensible. £340 or so at Francis & Gaye at the moment.

Thanks for your review. I'm considering getting this one you reviewed or the GW-5000u-1 to have something smaller and a bit more refined. As currently I have the Rangeman GW-9400-1 as my only G-Shock. I feel I could be disappointed with the GA-B2100-1 especially if no auto-backlight. What do you think of your 5000u you have?
Cheers Adam and welcome to the channel 😎 the 5000u is as you say that slight step up but they are possibly overpriced for what they are, I'm gonna say the 2100 is more fashion watch than the 5000u so it might depend on when and where you're using it, what size is your wrist?
@@thetimebombardier Thanks for your reply. My wrist is just 7 inches, I can get away with the Rangeman, maybe the 5000u could be a bit small, but would still work....
@@adsagp fair enough, I just picked up a G5600 which is a good alternative to the 5601, damn sorry there are too many of these things to make a decision and then you end up like me with too many LOL
@@thetimebombardier Lol, yeah! Well, I still only have 1 G-Shock so far the Rangeman 9400. I was also considering getting the Mudman 9300 as a slightly smaller alternative to my Rangeman. Anyway I changed the Rangeman strap to a NATO style single pass strap with the G-Shock strap adaptors and cut off the extra double pass part so not so bulky. It hugs the wrist a bit more snuggly now and doesn't flare out as much as the original strap. Anyway will see how this goes for now, lol. Cheers.
Edit: the NATO style strap wasn't as comfortable, so changed it back to the original Rangeman strap as it does the job well. 😅
@@adsagp nice I just picked up a rangey and will be swapping out the bezel and band soon, they are such classics and I'm not convinced the new ones are really an upgrade 😉 I'm not a big nato strap fan, I prefer the marine nationale types which have that little stretch which gives the hug you are referring to 😎👍

I still like the yellow 😅😅 but sold it very quickly ss a buddy wanted it and was missing the watch but i can't wear the yellow to work without attracting undue attention 🤣

I have the yellow one, and like it a lot. I agree with everything you point out. It’s frustrating that the outer case widens after some time, minde did too, even though I never messed with it. I don’t use the app but have set up a raspberry pi because the app doesn’t keep syncing the time consistently.

Is it normal that the battery stay on M after 2 days charged? 🫤
Yup mine too, if you connect to the app it will give you an exact charge indication as I read the HML as more of an approx, but yes very frustrating that it struggles to soak up the charge 😬😬

Mine was on M for months, then went on holiday to Turkiye & boom within a couple of hours the indicator was on H.
Still there after 3 months.
