I wasnt going to get the 5 because im on the fold 4 and S23 ultra but i ended up getting it. Glad i did...the extra 1.5hrs of SOT along was worth it let alone how flat and thin it is and how much better the hinge feels and how the crease is less substantial. The lighter weight is also noticeable in the pants pocket. Totally worth the money!

I want to thank you for your honest review of the Fold 5. the use of your software with the Fold 4 has been the most favorable.
I generally agree. The Spen for the 5, for me at least, is not as ergonomically easy to use as the one on my 4 - I have big hands, or maybe I am just used to normal, round pens, and the flat side of the new Spen feels uncomfortable to me. However, comparing the Samsung Spen covers, the one for the 5 can now do wireless charging without having to remove the pen, so that's a bonus. I feel the fold 5 is basically better in every way to the fold 4, though it's marginal in most cases. The only thing I have found so far that was better on the Fold 4 was that you could allocate actions to swiping up or down on the power button/fingerprint scanner. At the time of writing, Samsung seems to have disabled this on the Fold 5. Probably not a biggy for most people, but I used it a lot on the Fold 4 and really miss it on the 5. I think something that would have worked is an spen that was magnetic? When the inside screen is being used the pen can sit up top, and when closed it can attach to the outside hinge? Also which carrier are you usinging and were yiu able to take advantage of 5g service?
New slim S Pen case is having a lot of problems. Either out of the box or after a bit of use, the Pen slot opens up enough for the Pen to move around, which can result in it rotating 90 degrees inside the slot then simply falling out.
I have noticed this too. But I also noticed it is from me wanting to play with the pen in the case. It doesn't seem to move unless something imposes fraction on it.

Good video... My decision to purchase my own and 1st foldable phone (The Z Fold 5) was a no-brainer and a must-have device for video watching entertainment coupled with web browsing!
Was very interested in the Samsung pen case, but realized I preferred the hinge protector type cases that also have a pen holder in the hinge. The hinge makes it rock when unfolded in portrait but putting it in landscape tilts it up a bit giving a drafting mode feel that's perfect for when I write notes on a table/top. When I'm carrying it around unfolded it also gives my fingers a ledge to hold on to without need for a ring or similar grip.

You need to pull your camera back or readjust it when doing the overhead shots, because you're cutting off the top of the devices when showcasing them.

Last year the s pen case had a standard pen with an exposed tip. You could purchase the pen that you are describing. Which I believe is still available.
@@bodendorferno, the Fold Edition S Pen that came with the Fold 4 S Pen case had a spring loaded tip (what the other person meant by "retractable") to avoid excess pressure on the screen. The S Pen Pro (sold separately) had a switch that allowed for either a retractable tip or a fixed tip. Standard S Pens with fixed tips would result in a warning on screen on the Fold 4 when you attempted to use it.
i really want to get a fold but the oneplus open is so much better but samsung has this stylus and i want to use the stylus so i dont know. oppo pen i dont know where to get and also no case with this pen i found....
How are these flexibile screens holding up with repeated opening shutting? I like to stay totally mobile in my job without carrying a computer bag. This could be perfect. (cargo pocket with folding keyboard, and the folding phone in hand)

Upgrade from 4 to 5... Definitely not. Buying the 5 as your first foldable... It's a no brainer! Folds are like iphones, you definitely want to wait for at least 3 iterations to consider it a real upgrade.
If I would have waited to get the fold 5 when the fold 3 came out. I would have missed out on a lot of opportunities to increase my productivity. I think you need to look at each model and ask yourself is the enhancements worthy the cost for your own needs.

You mentioned productivity, I've owned both fold 4 and 5 and productivity is virtually the same on both phones. From fold 3 to 4 we saw quite a decent upgrade but 4 to 5... Nothing major. At best, the fold 5 is the fold 4, second iteration (4S as apple would have called it)
@@jeinnerabdel I can support your comments here. I will say this, if you are a heavy user of the phone, you will find that the screen update is pretty huge. I can write a lot smoother and the updated pen case is very nice. These are all small updates, but they are noticeable after you have used it for a few weeks.
I notice you seem to be wearing an iwatch. Do you use this phone as ur daily driver? Just asking as I am a apple user atm and am looking at the fold but wondering about the ecosystem change.
My daily driver for a phone is an iPhone. Simply due to the fact my entire family and most friends have apple devices. So things like FaceTime, photos and iMessage are hard to replace. However when it comes to the mobile device that I use for browsing the net, app usage, planning and stock picking. I very much prefer the fold. As for the Apple Watch, it’s simply more stylish in my opinion than the gear.
@@bodendorfer Yes I can understand this, love the Fold but can only afford one phone and it’s a toss up between the fold 5 and the iPhone 15 pro max. Been with Apple for years and the ecosystem is difficult to leave.

@@garycornhouse4276just swapped out my iphone 12 pro max for this because it is a multitasking beast and has pen support. Switched my iCloud to Onedrive and the only big loss so far is iMessage. Other than that happy with the switch.
I love the bulge of the S pen case because it creates an angle view when you put it flat and you want to write or sign. The Z fold 4 S-Pen's thickness is comfortable.
@bodendorfer s pen is useless in this implementation. There no problem to carry s pen separately on fold 4 and have a stand intead so Thickness of the device will remain the same. You will ask way s pen useless? Because on no bluetooth functionality... funny enough, this is the one rare phone where bluetooth in spen would make sense, atleast as remote for Camera
Your issue with the fold 4 S-Pen is the opposite for me. I kept the fold 4, but if I hadn't i would've bought the fold 5s kickstand case becuase it's compatible with the fold 4s official case so i can click it in. still cant decide between a 23 ultra, or this fold 5. I hate how skinny the front screen is. It seems like the Pixel is better. also the Ultra's cameras are better. If they ever combine tech, and make a fold the size of an Ultra and give it Ultra's cams, then I'm sold 100%

I found a way to overcome, put small piece of double side tape in the canal

The Spigen Thin Fit S Pen case is designed to allow the Fold5 to lay completely flat when open unlike the Samsung S Pen case.

Had the fold 4 and asurion upgraded me to the fold 5 for free, the hinge on my fold 4 went bad
The tips are the same as the first fold edition s-pen, I swapped them to my new fold5 pen and it works perfectly. Not a fan of the gray tip

The pen falls out of the case , lost mine already
I found that if you play with the pen or if rub it up against something that causes the pen to turn in the case. It is more likely it will fall out.
