Davvero interessante e meravigliosa l'armonia di questa composizione, che colorando strutture e forme classiche le immerge in un'atmosfera magica resa cangiante anche dai frequenti cambi di tempo.
Wow, this guy is good. It possesses a kind of jazziness to it. It also reminds me a lot of the artist who does the soundtracks to Hayao Miyazaki's films.
excellent performance. People are no longer familiar with composers like Scott and more's the pity. Good music is to be found if we look past the "A" class composers.
I find the piano music (all quite early) much more interesting and enjoyable than the symphonies and concertos, which are too diffuse and rather flabby. I think the comparison with Debussy is specious however. Superficially, Scott's piano music does resemble some of Debussy's, it breathes the same air, but it seems to me to be quite insubstantial in comparison. On its own terms, this suite is charming, if not terribly memorable.
I agree with you. What I find interesting in Scott's music are the harmonic progressions which underline the folk-like melodies; in that he is closer to Bartok than Debussy.
It makes me sad, because it's beautiful.
A perfect way to end the day, listening to this at 11 PM just before going to bed.

Sounds great. Incredible!
This music is incredible!
Brilliant! Love the third melody. Thank you for the score.
It's like a modern version of Debussy to a degree....love it! I can hear his influences especially in the Pastorale
beautiful piano
That third movement is incredible!!!!
Yes...am reminded (at 10:40) even of the ungainly Mussorgsky lumbering through that Exhibition hall!
Bello
Nice

I couldn't help noticing that this Passacaglia was written in 4/4 time. Very strange.
"Cool, someone's playing a Satie LP at 45rpm!!"
Seriously though, lovely.
Any one knows the theme of the Passacaglia? It sounds so familiar to me who never heard of this piece...
It reminds me the Irish folk tune "Molly McAlpin" used as well in the IV movement of Stanford's 3rd Symphony (Irish)
It was a folk tune, "The Poor Irish Boy," according to Eaglefield Hull. Seems Handel also composed an arrangement/variation of it.
@@Gothick49 -- I think MacDowell too channelled it in one of his 'Scottish' piano pieces. Greetings from San Agustinillo!
The first part reminds me a bit of Erik Saite :)
netedco yeah, so true!
The English Scriabin?
And just as much misunderstood, as some comments clearly reveal.

sometimes the simple harmonies are the most musical.
Chicken Nuggets Yeah, but the modes are no near of simplicity
What does two star sign at the first note mean?
There are two footnotes on the first page of the score:
* The mood but not the strict form is represented.
** R.H. nearly legato L.H. less legato.
@@Octavestorm Thanks, I like this Suite, I might try :) (I can't hear much of difference between "nearly legato & less legato" from the recording!)
For a moment I thought you made a reference to Scott's very keen sense for the occult and esoteric.
@@maniak1768 Could well be. Maybe that note is only played by person born on 7th January or something? :))
@@itchy2345 I see what you did there. ;)
