I can't imagine the stress you went through, not only from moving from one side of the planet to the other, but then having to get your Medicare, Tax, etc, etc information sorted. I am really enjoying your frequent vids about your time here. And I'm with Sam re Brisbane's humidity. Today at my place in Adelaide it reached 33 deg, but humidity was only just over 20%.
BTW South Australia has much less humidity and lovely winters with still autumnal tree leaf colours. Don't let yourself think you have to stay where you are because of a house! I dislike humidity too, even though I grew up in Sydney, I acclimatised to the dry heat quickly.
Course I loved it! LOVE THE DAY TRIPS MORE with Aurora. Not cos I'm creepy. Aurora is such an amazing kid and watching her become the little Aussie she is, makes me feel so proud of her. The Currumbin Bird Sanctuary is an old favorite for me.
I feel like we missed summer here in Adelaide. The best things about Adelaide: smaller population, but we still have everthing including a vibrant city….but it is the best place if you want a suburban life, one that is great for kids and families. We don’t really mind being ‘underrated’…..we don’t really have enough new housing to match the number of new migrants. We are the only city that was was a free settlers - no convicts (who took a loaf of bread,) settlement. We have an amazing city, our climate is wonderful….but the best thing is that we have stunning hills on one side, 70kms of stunning beaches on the other……and wineries either end! Oh, and my niece is a high school teacher (science and maths, year 11 and 12), and my middle niece is in her last year of uni to be a primary school teacher….so proud of them.
We were between Queensland and Perth with my husband’s job transfer and we picked Perth based on the weather and sooo glad we did the climate is awesome! ☀️👍🏻

Subtropical Temperatures between 10 Degrees and 30 Degrees GB is stuffed and Germany is not far behind so you are better of here! I set up my partner’s bank account with the CBA from the UK, we just strolled in and picked up the cards after we arrived. Smashed out our Medicare, his TFN and our drivers licenses all in the same day. Zero comparison to the time and drama it took to do the same when I went to the UK. Opening a bank account there is an absolute nightmare.
My wife and I are in Perth currently, over from the UK for a visit. we've rented a car from No Birds, which I have to say was really easy and hassle free, but what is refreshing is how people drive over here, compared to the UK which is like a race track. the weather here is great , currently 31c, dry and comfortable . A local guy said it was pretty much decent weather all year round. We love it here, my wife is Australian and of course she misses the climate more than anything. by the way , we enjoy your videos very much, and watch them all .
My mum was English and used to have heaps of cookbooks sent over from the UK in 70s, early 80s. The quick method is 2.2 pounds is equal to 1kg. Still to this day I remember that so am able to do the quick conversion for that, the only thing that trips me up is british ounces and us ounces as they aren't the same. Thankfully we have conversion apps these days, though there are still some calculations in my mums old cookbooks written in the margins.

Thing's have changed so much in my time, i arrived from London in 1989 to Adelaide and costs were so affordable, a 3 bedroom house here was cheaper than a 1 bedroom flat in Colliers Wood, i could barely carry $50 of groceries, everything was incredibly affordable.
One kilogram is 10% more than two pounds. Ross is right, go to the greengrocers or find a good market that heavily discounts on the weekends and just put into a bag what you want for your family of each thing. It should work well. A lot of people plan their weekly menu and then make a shopping list before going to the shops. Nice video! 😀
Sam... Im totally with you on the the speed limit. I'm dyslexic and omg getting my head around it... Aaarrrgggg... Its so slow here. (got my first speeding fine within the first few weeks of moving here. What I didn't know is I could challenged it... Oh well). We watched another channel and see all of the crazy drivers!! 😮... We started in Melbourne (weather is interesting.. But do love it) and noticed a lot A Lot of the clips are from Melbourne.... Cray crazy We moved across with 16 boxes and wished we had a brought a couple more bits 😂. After 6months of being in Melbourne we moved regional and omg we love it! Bought a house and recently bought a boat. Loving loving it! I too struggled with finding a job.. Hubby is the main bread winner.... But currently I've ended up changing my career. Edinburgh and Burton are close together. We live in a place called Golden Grove. It’s a very nice area,maybe once you are settled, you could have a drive up here, it’s just up on a hill. I used to work in Edinburgh and drive to work from Golden Grove.

We went the other way, from Aus to UK and most of these are still relatable. I think moving anywhere will have many of the same stresses and things to think about. Good, thoughtful video and I think will be very helpful for people considering a move. In Australia we lived in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and even then, some of these things came into play. Seasonally southern states are much closer to UK. Melbourne we find very similar to UK except winter only lasts a few weeks instead of a few months. Perfect if you like a bit of cold to get the jackets out but get sick of it after a week. You get to wear winter coat and t shirt in the same day 😂
All very good tips. Particularly for newbies the speed cameras which are everywhere. I also got a fine in my 1st week for parking near a bus stop. Near = within 18m of the bus stop.

Sydney is very humid in summer as well...Im with you Sam...Melbourne is less so, and Tassie...not everywhere is excessively humid..living near the coast in other areas, you get the sea breeze...There is always a shortage of teachers in regional areas, Ross...and if anyone is a doctor, in your audience, there is an enormous shortgage in regional areas, where doctors are burning out due to the lack..We can always do with more doctors period, also teachers.
I did most my schooling in Sydney, I can tell you Sydney and Melbourne's summers are much hotter than Brisbane, but it's a dry heat vs Brisbane's humid heat, I prefer Brisbane, bit it's a personal preference thing. If you want to know what the dry summer heat is like, on a hot sunny summer day in Brisbane turn the oven on full, let it heat up and when it's at temperature open the door, pull up a chair and bask in the dry heat from the oven like a typical Aussie would do standing in front of the fridge with the fridge door open.
The weather in the middle of the New South Wales coast is Goldilocks territory. Not too hot or humid like Queensland but not too cold like Victoria or Tasmania. Sydney has a bit of everything: in Summer, some hot and dry days (bushfire weather), some hot and humid days, some bright and sunny, mild days, in other seasons, some wet cold days, some cool Autumn days, some warm and damp Spring days, some chilly winter days (snow in the mountains). Newcastle, and the Central Coast/Gosford and the Illawarra/Wollongong have similar weather but a much slower lifestyle than central Sydney. The outer suburbs of Sydney are more affordable but commuting to work is time-consuming. Looking for work in the outer suburbs would be more doable for both time and money.
Anywhere from Newcastle to Coff Harbour would be the ideal place if you want to be away from the major cities. Weather wise for a Brits or Europeans you guys would be ok.
Important Tip about hospitals btw. While Medicare is national and covers most things apart from the Gap where you still need to pay some money for Doctor's visits, etc, Ambulance Services vary from State to State, for example in Victoria if you don't have the annual membership, which costs like $70 and ever need an ambulance, the fees are in the thousands.
Teaching in particular is great because you can live anywhere and get work - plus rural teachers are in such high demand that many states will pay you significantly more if you're willing to teach out in the country
1.Speed kills so do the right thing...2.hands off the mobile phone...3.live in a big city and they'll be more rules and restrictions. As for conversions for Sam, it's easy...Really roughly(which is good enough for supermarket shopping)... 1 UK pound = $2 1 lb = 1/2 kj ...So you're doubling the money and halving the weight. Yeah, it's the humidity, I've lived in Brisbane (on and off) since 1980, I still can't handle it. I grew up in Adelaide, the summer temps down there get waaay higher than here, but it's much easier to handle because the humidity isn't there. Humidity adds like, 10 degrees. I'd much easier handle a 40 degree day down south than a 35 degree day up here.
Once you’re south of Sydney the humidity tones down considerably. Melbourne is rarely very humid, though this summer has been an exception. Our winters can be bitterly cold, and that takes people by surprise. We even get an occasional bit of snow in parts of Melbourne. It feels much colder too, because we’re quite windy. Our authorities do take road safety very seriously (I always assume the limit is 50 if I’ve not seen a sign, to be extra safe) and see death or injury from traffic accidents as unacceptable. To be fair, I prefer that attitude to the idea that that preventable deaths are inevitable.
We're movimg from NZ to the Gold Coast and some people who had moved in the past have advised we're looking at 10-15k to transport everything over in a shipping container. That's more than I'm willing to pay. Appreciate the advice and tips shared :)
Places take longer to get to. You drive further to places like shops work beach parks depending where you live. We lived in Perth for quite a few years and my dad never sweated his hands and feet were dry. We moved over to NSW and my dads hands and feet were always wet. He found this very difficult to deal with

Regional towns such as Toowoomba are worth a look. We arrived pre internet, it was a big learning curve. My wife grew up in far north Queensland. A bit late But a Hint for Sam re staying on the speed limit ,i imagine your car has cruise control ? use it as often as you can it takes a bit of practice but once you are used to it it becomes second nature .And conversion shouldnt be a problem as your speedo (odometer is thing that shows how many kilometres the car has travelled ) should reflect the same speed as the sign .
My friends that moved to Australia both opened a HSBC international bank account so they could use tge account as soon as they arrived, so id say do the same if you're going
Before moving g to another country you need to do your reaserch for instance the climate rental prices general food costs. What time of year you move so you can bring the right clothes. Types of insects you might encounter in the area you move to. And the local lingo .
Honestly, Melbourne Summers are only a little cooler than Queensland, but we don't have the year round humidity. And of course winters are cold, although not like English winters with all that snow. If you want something in between then NSW might suit.
You have to treat our bad summer weather like bad uk winter weather, it requires thought, preparation, and equipment to face the great outdoors when it’s at its worst, that’s all. February sucks the world over
Perth doesn't have bad summer weather and February is hot but because it's dry heat it's bearable. What we're lacking is rain. We've had our driest summer on record. We haven't had a decent drop of rain for at least 6 months. That's scary.

I grew up and lived most of my life in Darwin. Its a bit hotter and humid than Brisabane, and we dont really get a winter. Moving to Perth was amazing, the temperature varies a lot more, we got into the 40s a few times already this year. But low humidity. I would never go back to Darwin, just based on the weather.

Central Coast NSW is as expensive and busy as Sydney now. You’d need to be really particular about anywhere on the coast of NSW. Most of the coastal cities are expensive, compared to away from the coast. I’ve lived in NSW and Queensland. Any town that’s within 90 mins of a regional city will be more expensive than that bit further out. There are drawbacks to living away from regional cities, but it’s different for everyone depending on your requirements.
From one Johnston to another, I lived in Brisbane for only 9 Months and it's was so hot and sticky compared to our Sydney life and we ended up moving back to Sydney as my Mrs couldn't stand the humidity, the flies in Summer were incredible, we had 2 whippets and the flies were eating the tops of our dog's ear's off. You go to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping, come out of the supermarket out of the air conditioning and it was like walking into a sauna. It was easy to find a job in the Transport industry, i was driving trucks out at Fishermans Island. I lived in Wynnum in 2006/7 but my favourite suburb was Cleveland. Yeah our law loves speeding cameras as it's a huge source of revenue. The difference in humidity i found was in mid Summer in Sydney, we'd turn on the air-cond at around 11-11.30am to cool the house down before the hot afternoon but in Brisbane, it was on before 8am. I think the weather in Sydney was good all round, Newcastle (My hometown) is the same as Sydney, only 160kms separating them and are connected by Government electric rail that also services the Central Coast. I now live in Albury on the NSW/Victoria border, much drier Summers and the Autumns here are to die for but Spring takes a while to ramp up, we're exactly halfway between Canberra and Melbourne but Melbourne is easier to get to by train, just under 4 hours. Whilst we are only 90 minutes from the Snowy Mountains, I feel it doesn't get too cold here with the lowest being minus 2C but mostly 0-4C mid Winter, mid Summer it gets to 38C, not often over 40C but we can get long stretches of 38C without a cool spell for 2 weeks at a time.
You don't lose the tax, just means you get a bigger tax return when you submit your annual tax paper work. With no tfn they charge at the maximum rate, but when they work out the proper rate with the annual paperwork, you should be refunded the difference.
Cruise Control is your friend, use it to avoid speeding fines, at least if its not a downhill slope. The tolerance in Australia is just 2km/h, that's not a lot of leeway.
Hi, we live on the Victorian NSW border. We are 2 1/2 - 3 hours from Melbourne. We generally have hot dry summers though the last 4 years have been milder and wetter with some humidity. We do get all the seasons. Do you plan to explore other parts of our country? I think there are other parts of the country that might have a climate more suited to Sam. As an Australian I would never live in QLD due to the humidity but some people love it. I would totally avoid Victoria as a place to live as it appears more expensive than other states especially with land rates. As a teacher you will get a job anywhere, country towns are screaming out for teachers.

The Canberra weather is another area to think about, hot in summer, but dry not humid and cold in winter, can snow, but hasnt for years. Houses cheaper in NSW around the ACT. Oh and you can drive down here in just over a day. My friend and I used to go to Brisbane in one hit, overnight, swapping drivers every 2 hrs, wouldnt do it with kids tho Speedo is the car thing that tell you how fast your going. Australia supposedly has the largest houses (generally) in the world.
TOP TIP:I find when you are driving new roads if you put your sat nav on it gives you the speed signs. Untill you learn them been in perth 2 yrs. And have never been caught because of this. They changed a road and my husband got caught. But just once in 2 yrs with lots of driving and exploring I feel we have done amazing because of this. ( Hope this helps you sam) I bought every thing over too just for comfort and familiarity esp for our daughter too and I did not want to spend hours shopping. Maybe donate to the salvos will be handy for others maybe. And help a charity good for environment too. I find in perth I am.struggling for work like Sam I was a t.a back home and lived my job but out here not easy and we have had a recent influx of people and jobs are getting harder to come by. I am with sam on having to re do your qualification its like really! I find u.k. aree much more advanced on different learning disabilities and child protection. The gov need to pay more for t.a. teachers have had pay rises but not t.a's ( learning difficulties are increasing and the teachers I feel need a full time t.a in each class just my opinion. )
I had a road that was 90 they changed the speed limit to 60 din't tell anyone. They setup a speed camera that day to catch people out. My neighbours went out for the day. When they drove out the speed limit was 90 on the way back it was 60 luckily they saw it. How many people would notice a speed limit change when no signs saying it has changed just a new speed sign is up. As people have been going down the road for how many years.
Hey, I've watched so many of your videos and appreciate all of the advice that you're giving everyone. Do you know how achievable it would be to go over on a subclass 482 visa or some kind of sponsored visa? I have close to 4 years experience working as an IT service desk engineer and can see that it's on the skilled jobs list but my degree is in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Any advice would be helpful. My uncle is also in Brisbane and I have a cousin in Sydney :)
Just on paying super. The language has evolved to it your employers contribution but a tually it is your own. The whole superannuation programme was started in lrau of wages increases meaning our pay rises for that year were used as OUR contribution to OUR OWN superannuation plan. Employers only collect the funds on behalf of the government.
If you don't like savage heat plus humidity, don't live in Brisbane. The heat in Sydney is less savage and the humidity is much lower. The heat in Melbourne during January and February can match Brisbane but for the rest of the year, the temperatures are much cooler. Sydney is in between. An example today: It's now 26 C in Brisbane, 32 in Sydney, and 18 in Melbourne. Melbourne is for the person who prefers the cold to the hot.

I hate the hot, humid climate where we live in Bali but also not a fan of cold, rainy winters (like Sam!) Do you think the GC would suit us or would you move further down? Is the worst of the humidity only Dec, Jan, Feb?
Think of a bit over 2lbs = 1 kilo. When we went from imperial to metric in Australia it took most people a while to get used of weight and value per kilo.

Where in Adelaide are you moving too, also August is very cold month, bring your coats. We live north of Adelaide, been here 54 years now.

Edinburgh and Burton are close together. We live in a place called Golden Grove. It’s a very nice area,maybe once you are settled, you could have a drive up here, it’s just up on a hill. I used to work in Edinburgh and drive to work from Golden Grove.
@ritacocker7409 we will be exploring every bit of adelaide and all its suburbs so I'm sure we will get round to golden Grove. Hopefully get some time off once I arrive to see the min sights and get to know burton and Edinburgh.
We went the other way, from Aus to UK and most of these are still relatable. I think moving anywhere will have many of the same stresses and things to think about. Good, thoughtful video and I think will be very helpful for people considering a move.
In Australia we lived in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and even then, some of these things came into play. Seasonally southern states are much closer to UK. Melbourne we find very similar to UK except winter only lasts a few weeks instead of a few months. Perfect if you like a bit of cold to get the jackets out but get sick of it after a week. You get to wear winter coat and t shirt in the same day 😂
All very good tips. Particularly for newbies the speed cameras which are everywhere. I also got a fine in my 1st week for parking near a bus stop. Near = within 18m of the bus stop.

I still think you did a dam good job under the circumstances of Covid. Yes it is all very stressful moving no matter where it is. Love your posts. It’s hot everywhere in the summer but without the humidity. Dry heat. Don’t confuse humidity with heat.

Sydney is very humid in summer as well...Im with you Sam...Melbourne is less so, and Tassie...not everywhere is excessively humid..living near the coast in other areas, you get the sea breeze...There is always a shortage of teachers in regional areas, Ross...and if anyone is a doctor, in your audience, there is an enormous shortgage in regional areas, where doctors are burning out due to the lack..We can always do with more doctors period, also teachers.
I did most my schooling in Sydney, I can tell you Sydney and Melbourne's summers are much hotter than Brisbane, but it's a dry heat vs Brisbane's humid heat, I prefer Brisbane, bit it's a personal preference thing. If you want to know what the dry summer heat is like, on a hot sunny summer day in Brisbane turn the oven on full, let it heat up and when it's at temperature open the door, pull up a chair and bask in the dry heat from the oven like a typical Aussie would do standing in front of the fridge with the fridge door open.

The weather in the middle of the New South Wales coast is Goldilocks territory. Not too hot or humid like Queensland but not too cold like Victoria or Tasmania.
Sydney has a bit of everything: in Summer, some hot and dry days (bushfire weather), some hot and humid days, some bright and sunny, mild days, in other seasons, some wet cold days, some cool Autumn days, some warm and damp Spring days, some chilly winter days (snow in the mountains).
Newcastle, and the Central Coast/Gosford and the Illawarra/Wollongong have similar weather but a much slower lifestyle than central Sydney. The outer suburbs of Sydney are more affordable but commuting to work is time-consuming. Looking for work in the outer suburbs would be more doable for both time and money.
Anywhere from Newcastle to Coff Harbour would be the ideal place if you want to be away from the major cities. Weather wise for a Brits or Europeans you guys would be ok.

Important Tip about hospitals btw. While Medicare is national and covers most things apart from the Gap where you still need to pay some money for Doctor's visits, etc,
Ambulance Services vary from State to State, for example in Victoria if you don't have the annual membership, which costs like $70 and ever need an ambulance, the fees are in the thousands.
Teaching in particular is great because you can live anywhere and get work - plus rural teachers are in such high demand that many states will pay you significantly more if you're willing to teach out in the country

Yeah, it's the humidity, I've lived in Brisbane (on and off) since 1980, I still can't handle it. I grew up in Adelaide, the summer temps down there get waaay higher than here, but it's much easier to handle because the humidity isn't there. Humidity adds like, 10 degrees. I'd much easier handle a 40 degree day down south than a 35 degree day up here.
Once you’re south of Sydney the humidity tones down considerably. Melbourne is rarely very humid, though this summer has been an exception. Our winters can be bitterly cold, and that takes people by surprise. We even get an occasional bit of snow in parts of Melbourne. It feels much colder too, because we’re quite windy.
Our authorities do take road safety very seriously (I always assume the limit is 50 if I’ve not seen a sign, to be extra safe) and see death or injury from traffic accidents as unacceptable. To be fair, I prefer that attitude to the idea that that preventable deaths are inevitable.
There's a climate for everyone in Australia
The Central Coast is great. I grew up there. Though I have been told it is ready build up now. I need a holiday there soon.
We're movimg from NZ to the Gold Coast and some people who had moved in the past have advised we're looking at 10-15k to transport everything over in a shipping container. That's more than I'm willing to pay. Appreciate the advice and tips shared :)
Places take longer to get to. You drive further to places like shops work beach parks depending where you live. We lived in Perth for quite a few years and my dad never sweated his hands and feet were dry. We moved over to NSW and my dads hands and feet were always wet. He found this very difficult to deal with
We immigrated to Oz from the UK pretty much at the same time as you did Ross (mid Covid!), went through so many of the same things!
A regular 250 grams butter is half a pound approximately so if you compare that as a basic unit of measurement and weight it can be a good guide.

A bit late But a Hint for Sam re staying on the speed limit ,i imagine your car has cruise control ? use it as often as you can it takes a bit of practice but once you are used to it it becomes second nature .And conversion shouldnt be a problem as your speedo (odometer is thing that shows how many kilometres the car has travelled ) should reflect the same speed as the sign .
My friends that moved to Australia both opened a HSBC international bank account so they could use tge account as soon as they arrived, so id say do the same if you're going

Before moving g to another country you need to do your reaserch for instance the climate rental prices general food costs. What time of year you move so you can bring the right clothes. Types of insects you might encounter in the area you move to. And the local lingo .

Honestly, Melbourne Summers are only a little cooler than Queensland, but we don't have the year round humidity.
And of course winters are cold, although not like English winters with all that snow.
If you want something in between then NSW might suit.

Perth doesn't have bad summer weather and February is hot but because it's dry heat it's bearable. What we're lacking is rain. We've had our driest summer on record. We haven't had a decent drop of rain for at least 6 months. That's scary.

WRT superannuation, your employer may contribute extra if you choose the default fund selected by them, and you might also get a better deal on insurance premiums because the fund prices the premiums "in bulk." Make sure you read alll the product disclosure information carefully before you make any changes.
I grew up and lived most of my life in Darwin. Its a bit hotter and humid than Brisabane, and we dont really get a winter. Moving to Perth was amazing, the temperature varies a lot more, we got into the 40s a few times already this year. But low humidity. I would never go back to Darwin, just based on the weather.
I lived in Darwin for over 20 years and loved it, the only reason I left after retiring was the weather, I couldn't cope with the heat and humidity.

Central Coast NSW is as expensive and busy as Sydney now. You’d need to be really particular about anywhere on the coast of NSW. Most of the coastal cities are expensive, compared to away from the coast. I’ve lived in NSW and Queensland. Any town that’s within 90 mins of a regional city will be more expensive than that bit further out. There are drawbacks to living away from regional cities, but it’s different for everyone depending on your requirements.
From one Johnston to another, I lived in Brisbane for only 9 Months and it's was so hot and sticky compared to our Sydney life and we ended up moving back to Sydney as my Mrs couldn't stand the humidity, the flies in Summer were incredible, we had 2 whippets and the flies were eating the tops of our dog's ear's off. You go to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping, come out of the supermarket out of the air conditioning and it was like walking into a sauna. It was easy to find a job in the Transport industry, i was driving trucks out at Fishermans Island.
I lived in Wynnum in 2006/7 but my favourite suburb was Cleveland. Yeah our law loves speeding cameras as it's a huge source of revenue. The difference in humidity i found was in mid Summer in Sydney, we'd turn on the air-cond at around 11-11.30am to cool the house down before the hot afternoon but in Brisbane, it was on before 8am. I think the weather in Sydney was good all round, Newcastle (My hometown) is the same as Sydney, only 160kms separating them and are connected by Government electric rail that also services the Central Coast.
I now live in Albury on the NSW/Victoria border, much drier Summers and the Autumns here are to die for but Spring takes a while to ramp up, we're exactly halfway between Canberra and Melbourne but Melbourne is easier to get to by train, just under 4 hours. Whilst we are only 90 minutes from the Snowy Mountains, I feel it doesn't get too cold here with the lowest being minus 2C but mostly 0-4C mid Winter, mid Summer it gets to 38C, not often over 40C but we can get long stretches of 38C without a cool spell for 2 weeks at a time.

You don't lose the tax, just means you get a bigger tax return when you submit your annual tax paper work. With no tfn they charge at the maximum rate, but when they work out the proper rate with the annual paperwork, you should be refunded the difference.
Cruise Control is your friend, use it to avoid speeding fines, at least if its not a downhill slope.
The tolerance in Australia is just 2km/h, that's not a lot of leeway.

Hi, we live on the Victorian NSW border. We are 2 1/2 - 3 hours from Melbourne. We generally have hot dry summers though the last 4 years have been milder and wetter with some humidity. We do get all the seasons. Do you plan to explore other parts of our country? I think there are other parts of the country that might have a climate more suited to Sam. As an Australian I would never live in QLD due to the humidity but some people love it. I would totally avoid Victoria as a place to live as it appears more expensive than other states especially with land rates. As a teacher you will get a job anywhere, country towns are screaming out for teachers.
Born in Toowoomba and lived mostly in Brisbane and have been fined twice for parking the wrong direction. Once in the 70s and once in the 90s. Silly council bylaw enforcement

The Canberra weather is another area to think about, hot in summer, but dry not humid and cold in winter, can snow, but hasnt for years. Houses cheaper in NSW around the ACT. Oh and you can drive down here in just over a day. My friend and I used to go to Brisbane in one hit, overnight, swapping drivers every 2 hrs, wouldnt do it with kids tho

TOP TIP:I find when you are driving new roads if you put your sat nav on it gives you the speed signs. Untill you learn them been in perth 2 yrs. And have never been caught because of this. They changed a road and my husband got caught. But just once in 2 yrs with lots of driving and exploring I feel we have done amazing because of this. ( Hope this helps you sam)

I find in perth I am.struggling for work like Sam I was a t.a back home and lived my job but out here not easy and we have had a recent influx of people and jobs are getting harder to come by. I am with sam on having to re do your qualification its like really! I find u.k. aree much more advanced on different learning disabilities and child protection. The gov need to pay more for t.a. teachers have had pay rises but not t.a's ( learning difficulties are increasing and the teachers I feel need a full time t.a in each class just my opinion. )
I had a road that was 90 they changed the speed limit to 60 din't tell anyone. They setup a speed camera that day to catch people out. My neighbours went out for the day. When they drove out the speed limit was 90 on the way back it was 60 luckily they saw it. How many people would notice a speed limit change when no signs saying it has changed just a new speed sign is up. As people have been going down the road for how many years.
Hey, I've watched so many of your videos and appreciate all of the advice that you're giving everyone. Do you know how achievable it would be to go over on a subclass 482 visa or some kind of sponsored visa? I have close to 4 years experience working as an IT service desk engineer and can see that it's on the skilled jobs list but my degree is in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Any advice would be helpful. Just on paying super. The language has evolved to it your employers contribution but a tually it is your own. The whole superannuation programme was started in lrau of wages increases meaning our pay rises for that year were used as OUR contribution to OUR OWN superannuation plan. Employers only collect the funds on behalf of the government.
If you don't like savage heat plus humidity, don't live in Brisbane. The heat in Sydney is less savage and the humidity is much lower. The heat in Melbourne during January and February can match Brisbane but for the rest of the year, the temperatures are much cooler. Sydney is in between. An example today: It's now 26 C in Brisbane, 32 in Sydney, and 18 in Melbourne. Melbourne is for the person who prefers the cold to the hot.
Move to Sydney and it's less humid than Brisbane. Melbourne is rubbish in winter. 😜

Hey guys! This is such a helpful video. I am thinking about a move to Aus for the better pay for teachers (from NZ) and really great niche schools. I hate the hot, humid climate where we live in Bali but also not a fan of cold, rainy winters (like Sam!) Do you think the GC would suit us or would you move further down? Is the worst of the humidity only Dec, Jan, Feb?

Mostly
Think of a bit over 2lbs = 1 kilo. When we went from imperial to metric in Australia it took most people a while to get used of weight and value per kilo.
