The unsung heroes of the game were the Texas defense. After 3 qtrs of bumbling incompetence by the Texas offense, the Texas defense kept a very potent Arkansas offense in check keeping them within striking distance. Still needed a couple of miracles though.
Get up after the play and go back to the huddle. No showboating, no fights, no arguing calls, no challenging calls, no skirts on the QB's, just good hard football. Oh yeah congratulate the opposition and show respect. I miss that.
People forget how good Texas was in the 60's winning 3 National Championships in 63 69 70. It used to be after the season when got crowned national champion and not a bowl game. Either way that 69 and 70 team was loaded. It sure as hell got Oklahoma running the wishbone starting in the early 70's to success.
truely loved the college game back then .................. oklahoma in the fifties ....texas in the sixties ....the sooners in the seventies ......... there are other ball clubs at that time .....ohio state ...... sputhern cal......... penn state ........alabama ........ nebraska ...and i m forgetting some ......... but texas and oklahoma .........
