I’ve read other interpretation that the “heavenly damsels” are actually divine “powers”.
That one who meditates on the goddess as described in the sloka, the “powers” become subjugated to the person.
The apsaras are obviously divine beings and therefore have supernatural abilities. So the person, in the sloka, ATTRACTS these supernatural abilities/powers…whatever they may be.
Because Sloka 16 says the same concept. Meditating on the red (Aruna) form, he gets the ability to compose amazing poetic works, beloved by only highly educated people.
To me, the “Aruna” color of Devi, makes someone capable of having “higher” abilities. What abilities? I guess, whatever ability one desires to have?
You say apsaras are also a symbol of desire/creation.
Desire and fulfilling desires/creating/manifesting becomes a reality by of Devi’s “Aruna” form.
Can this be a correct interpretation?
