Great and beautifully F***ING illustrated. Will do mine at some point, loved the comments about your glasses and the bit about the battery cover. What I liked the most was you hit all the issues as they came up which will be a great help when I try it. Keep em coming !
Informative video thanks although I did hide behind the sofa when your socket wrench was laying across the battery a little too close to the terminals for (my) comfort.
Just for reference, to purge the filter all you have to do is release the cap on the top pipe then pump until fuel comes out. Clips off, clips back on again.
Great video,I just done it myself on my kia rio 2013 1.1crdi,same design, what I did differently when I prime the filter I did it with the return pipe connected and with the inlet in a bottle, pump the filter around 10 times until diesel came out constantly and started on the first go.👍🏻
actually wondering how you bleed the system, always thought you need to put off the black cap und the steel hose towards you and bleed then, anything u could relate?
na i think thats not even needed to bleed until injector. Problem ist right now its a car from 2015 and it hasnt a pump on top of the filter. guess its going to self bleed.@@gtd65
@@kabekful on your version, is there something like a bleed bolt at the top? It may well self prime when you start the car but I've no experience with that model.
Did you get the replacement flat rubber washer for the sending unit, attached to the bottom of the filter, with your new filter,or was your washer in good shape
Highland Minger, the new filter came with a new seal, just the same detail as a cartridge oil filter as far as I recall. Are you looking to replace your fuel filter soon?
@@gtd65 ,yes the filter does, but the water sensor you unscrew from the bottom of the fuel filter, has a rubber washer in the cup. If that is compacted, then I t will leak. The only way I know to get it is by paying £26.00 for a generic water sensor.
@@highlandminger4009 I didn't change it or recall seeing anything that suggested it needed replaced. Is your one in bad condition? Could you not just replace the rubber washer with something of a suitable size?
Hi, great video. Was it driven by ‘good maintenance’ or were you addressing an issue? Reason I ask is my wife’s i20 has difficult to start from cold and we had an auto electrician run diagnostics, eliminated electrical issue and said it’s a fuel issue. Said it could be the filter needs replacing or the fuel pump. Thanks
Hi Phil, no issues with the car as such. It was really just down to the maintenance interval but I'd noticed a slight drop in MPG, which, I though might be a hint the fuel filter required changing. I suspect the drop in MPG was due to a heavier right foot. 😉
Thanks. Turns out the fuel filter was replaced in August as part of an annual service so it’s not that after all! Car runs great but has become difficult to start from cold. Occasionally will increase revs slightly as you idle towards a red traffic light, out of gear and coasting. Only briefly but not sure that means anything. No fault codes from the diagnostics checks and being told by diesel specialist they’d have to hunt down the problem. Worst case = new fuel pump and an eye-watering bill, probably more than the value of the car. Thanks again
@@philoshea9598 have you noticed if it's taking longer for the glow plug light to go out? I'd perhaps try turning the ignition on and waiting a bit longer after the flow plug light has gone out before attempting to start and see if that makes any difference. I did notice this morning that my current car, a Kia Ceed, took slightly longer to start but I'm putting that down to freezing conditions.
@@gtd65 The glow plug light goes off fairly quickly but always has. I’ve tried waiting 5+ seconds but pretty much the same. I thought of changing the relay in case it wasn’t switching the glow plugs on for long enough before turning them off? Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
@@gtd65 M8, when you come to Italy, I'll offer you a Dinner :) The funny thing on the IX20 is that removing the top of the air box is not mandatory, but clever: you have more space to maneuvre, especially if you are a big guy. Hi GTD, Great Vid. Is it necessary to replace the black bracket? I was thinking that leaving it off may make filter replacement easier next time round. what your thoughts?
