Everyone’s saying there is no diversity but being honest hardly any black girls 1. Audition for the squad 2. Choose cheer. With Ole Miss and other Southern schools there are step teams and most black girls choose to join black sororities/step teams simply because they feel closer to them. I know on our team in California there’s only 2 black girls on a 25member cheer/spirit squad bc no one wanted to audition except for white/asian girls. There’s no problem with it and its just people going where they feel most at home. For white girls that can be a cheer team or white sorority and for black girls it may be a black sorority/cheer team.
Is Ryan O'Connor from Dunbar High School???? tbt to that early 2000's tv show, she would have the experience and the at the age Ryan O'Connor is now....
Yep--that's her! I think she cheered with Louisville and Alabama, then she coached cheerleading at a smaller university in Alabama for a few years. Glad to see her with a top tier program. She still has so much to offer to the sport!

It's spiriting, very common skill with cheerleading, especially with sideline cheer regardless if it's high school or college cheer. but each college team has their special way of spiriting besides waving, in Florida theres the gator Chomp, and South Carolina has that weird rock-roll hand thing called spurs-up, and they do that instead of waving with their all their fingers out.
idk about cheer but in dance we put perpendicular straps on the bars so we can switch out our poms to safely do tricks !! these cheerleaders might have something similar :)))
Omg I’m prettt sure their Spirit squad would me more diverse if black girls went I tried out for Rangerettes and there was only me and three other black girls on dropped out and one made the team lol so yeah.
What's this about Diversity Bullsh**? I'm not going to hire someone because of their skin color. You either can do the job and be good enough to make the team or not. This is not a Government questionnaire for tax breaks on which box I check.
sherockscurls perhaps it's because it's a unspoken rule that AA girls are not allowed to participate!!! We tend not to go where we aren't represented. However I'm amazed how or AA male athletes will carry the football program however our girls can't cheer them on!!!

The cheerleaders have the weirdest pom poms. It almost looks like they have straps as handles....? I've never seen poms like that.
