Dusty had masterful understanding of vocals and creating sounds without today's computer techno mixing of voices....several singers (certainly not artists) are computer mixed sounds...Dusty was a genuine artist who's voice was only enhanced by out of date microphones for audiences and recording. She probably did voice overs, which was a common use of enhancing sound in her day, but she was the absolute truest artist with the truest voice. Anne Murray highly admired Dusty and her artistry..once saying to Dusty "you're the best voice in the world," to reply to her insecurity. There just has not been anyone close to her raw talent since.
Sad but true. I do think in her later years, she came to have a somewhat better appreciation for her spectacular voice and abilities. She stated that sometimes she'd hear herself on the radio singing a song she'd recorded many years prior and something she did would give her a chill and she'd think "So that's what they were talking about in the studio." She said she was never satisfied at the time of the recordings, always a perfectionist. It was only years later hearing a song that she would sometimes get it (what people were so impressed with).
Stunning vocal on "The Second Time Around." Dusty from a whisper to a soaring vocal and back to a whisper. Not many singers could pull that off. Strange they didn't have her sing that one prior to "Ain't No Fun" Rocker. Last number = good times. Thanks so much for this post!
Many thanks for sharing this. I wonder how many of Cilla's BBC shows are still in existence. I know that many archives of many BBC variety programmes were wiped.
Absolutely wonderful!! Dusty sure is sadly missed. I'd love Cilla to do a tour of the provincial theatres and let those of us who have never seen her live to enjoy her talents. Maybe Robert can have a word with mum lol.
She was simply magnificent!❤

@Steve Price Thank you so much for your comment! The best wishes for you!🌹🌞
Dusty sings Motown then a standard followed by a comedy sketch. Talk about versatile.
Oh, She's so lovely. What a girl!❤️❤️❤️
Oh wow. On the second song she is hypnotic.
too bad Dusty never went into acting. She was a natural!! Just another one of her many talents. I LOVE HER!!
whitey1312 she had a tv show and two British movies
Is there anything you can't sing Dusty? You were so much more wonderful than you ever seem to have embraced about yourself.

Thanks for your comments - great to hear that Dusty herself appreciated some of her talent, really that's good to know.
Indeed.
