Premiering the 1st episode on UA-cam for free is a smart advertising

Yes it's amazing! We love that we on the west can give you guys worth. Being on our platforms is very prestigious. Sure, you can blow up in Africa but it's not the same, we have to accept you for you to have worth. So well done, great show!
I started watching this last night and ended up watching the whole of season 1 in one night. Very good story line and I like the fact that they are showcasing South African music and artists in the series. It's about time these talented artists get recognition. Loved it!

I love film and TV. A legit fanatic. also being South African made me watch it immediately. It's an easy watch. doesn't require all your attention.
There actually giving this show good promotion I’m suprised
@@BC-vj1gm exactly
@@BC-vj1gm Not their fault many aren't interested. This is a Netflix show. Netflix is a business. They want to make money on these shows. These series can cost millions of dollars to produce, the average episode costing $4 mil. Trust me, once the series launches, they will be promoting the shit out of it. Posting the first episode on YT is a very smart marketing move!
No reason to be surprised. Netflix is a big, global business with a big global audience. This isn't some fly by night production company working with the SABC. A proper marketing budget has been allocated for a proper marketing team to insure an ROI for Netflix through guaranteed views. Don't assume that this would not get promoted just because it's South African.

And finally a South African series , much love from Spain 🇪🇸!!
Gracious we also love Spain series, money heist and vis a vis.
Spain beautiful country
I just finished the series. Was amazing, and I'm elated with there being more Netflix content based on South Africa and its people. The diversity was out of this world and I'm glad I got to see more representation for darkskin black girls for female leads. You don't see that a lot with shows based off of high school (unless it's some movie/show that depicts our struggles as black people. Even then, sometimes it's a mixed racially ambiguous girl for the lead, which is why I want to put emphasis on the fact that this series' female lead is a darkskin black girl). This was quite refreshing, as mostly everything in this show was executed well in my opinion and every scene of the episodes just got me hyped for the next. I'd say, the beginning was a bit cliche with the whole "new girl goes to party" pilot, but overall as the show progressed, I wouldn't say everything that I watched was expected. I'm so happy about this
Its not "based" in south africa, its literally a south african show, so its a bit strange to reffer to diversity as if this is an american show.. netflix has a lot of worldwide productions just saying.
maya It’s the same thing. I said what I said, so I’ll still acknowledge how diverse the series was (be it South African or not), as I don’t see that so often generally.
ok but you hit it on the dot ..... i agree with everything you said

The thing I really like about this series is the whole story around Fiks and Chad. So many teen shows always romanticize teacher-student relationships but this one didn’t. It completely ruined Chad’s life and messed up Fiks’s future. Not to mention mental state. I really liked that I don’t feel like people point that out.
