This is netflix's version of euphoria but without the aesthetics.. like it touches on real life highschool problems and rape and is completely unfiltered... highkey my fav type of series

Grand Army was so good!! I can easily see this getting renewed for numerous seasons. You can make entire stories out of those 5 characters, along with introducing new characters and storylines.

@@lailarashid4253 I go to pubic school in the USA, I don’t particularly live in a good area so we have all types of people and for me this is how it is. A kid even made a fake threat to the school. Wr have the really rich kids and middle class and then there are the homeless kids, yes we have homeless kids who go to our school and we also have a couple kids form foster care. If I ever wanted to show how public schools wear in a city in USA I would show them this show.
Y’all are over here saying Netflix putting this first episode for free because no one is watching it. Yet it’s been in the top #10 (currently #5) in the U.S. I think this is a great marketing strategy for people who don’t have Netflix, and will end up wanting to finish the remaining 8 episodes = New Netflix subscribers

I think what I love love the most about this show is how realistic it is, the whining, the hypocrisy, the racism, the feminism everything was on par with the teenagers today in my opinion I graduated 4 years ago and this brought me back to my high school days.

Finished S1 yesterday. Insanely good show. Characters have such immense depth. The storylines are addicting. Hope Grand Army gets renewed for a S2- you can't just leave us on a bunch of cliffhangers like that

Justice for The Society!! Arguably one of the best shows I've ever seen, from the writing, to the acting, to the storytelling and storyline, to the character development... and to see it just get cancelled, smh.

I love this show so much especially the Haitian representation, I’m half Haitian and I barely see any rep in shows and mainstream media. I’ve seen only a few Haitian people on movies and they were extras, seeing Dominique ( I don’t know if she’s actually Haitian or not) did an amazing job, I couldn’t help smiling every time she was on screen and speaking creole with her family.

I love this and Euphoria so much. Euphoria talks about strong topics, but I feel like it glamorizes it more less in a way, but Grand Army stays on the topic and explains it more thoroughly and actually has actors that look like teens. This is like Euphoria, but it’s not in a way.

I don’t think euphoria “glamorizes” it I think it shows what happens to high school with more camera angles, glitter, outfits, and make up. Though I do think these shows a similar in some ways I don’t think we should compare them but I do agree with one thing you said about the actors looking like ACTUAL teens though these are TV-MA shows they can’t be usual actual teens but grand army makes them look close enough. Euphoria cast are so pretty and look about mid 20’s still young but not for high school
Euphoria definitely doesn’t glamorize drug use or the things the characters get up to. It might use the glittery outfits and fun camera angles but it does deal with real life topics pretty well.

I feel like the pretty aesthetics and the bold fashion statements aren’t there to sugar coat it, but inspire people to express their creativity and individuality, while giving us the euphoric feeling that most of us crave!💜💙💜💙

Joey is my favorite character. I’ve watched her parts a couple of times now. I’m so sorry what happened to her and I hope she gets justice in season two. She was really confident in the first two episodes and then her “friends” destroyed her. I felt so bad for her. Every time she cried I wanted to cry as well. They literally could not have picked a better person to play her than Odessa (, who is now my favorite actress.)
I’m literally gonna cry if they cancel grand army. It’s a show that depicts on many issues most teenagers go through in real life...sexual assault, poverty, sexuality, not knowing your identity, losing friends, etc. It therefore forces us to talk about those important topics.
I promise you it’s worth watching. At first I thought it was kind of boring but it turned out to be one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. When I think about it...it actually is my favorite show.
It just came out two weeks ago and I’ve already watched it more than twice and I probably gonna watch it again soon (at least some parts)

I loved it! I just felt so bad for all the characters. I really wanted to go through the tv and help Leila find who she really was, I wanted to tell Dom she’s doing a good job and to keep her head high, i wanted to give Joey a hug and say I believe you, I wanted to tell Sid don’t be ashamed of who you really are, I wanted to tell Jay I stand with him, i wanted to make George and Luke feel guilty, I wanted to tell Tim “see something say something” , and I wanted to tell Owen it’ll be better days and not push away those who care about you.
Facts people hate Leila, but she’s just lost.

Leila is manipulative, narcissistic, inconsiderate, selfish, and downright rude. She doesn’t need to “find herself” she needs serious help. Calling in a bomb threat just to get your friend back is a serious red flag.
Finally a show that amazingly represents and showcases the struggles of teenagers and POC and Netflix doesn’t renew it. Smfh Netflix what are you doing with my money 🤦🏾♀️

This show is incredible. The opening scene with Joey yanking a used condom out of Grace is actually such a brilliant depiction of the intimacy and untrammelled loyalty of teenage female friendship. Everyone needs to watch this show.

Most accurate and realistic representation of teen life in america on netflix i have ever seen I’m shocked. I’ve always wanted a show like this in this kind of style and the fact that I randomly came across it and it touched on everything i wanted to see is amazing plus the fact that it takes place in Queens makes it even better. We def need a season two. That ending was so touching y’all did amazing on this 🙌

I just graduated 2 years ago and it felt like I was back in high school except I could pause and stop living the experience when I wanted to ( even though I didn’t and binged it in a day) I can see this show going on for so many seasons and I hope netflix doesn’t cancel this show like they did with the society.

It’s so rare to find a show that does so many things right, these stories are real and important. Seeing so many people of color on my tv was like a breath of fresh air. I’m praying for a second season.

Loved this show! The representation in this show was perfect! Not to mention, the writing and dialogue was so spot on! THIS is how teenagers talk and interact, not like in Riverdale, or TVD or even 13RW, AND they used real POC!
There were darker skinned black women/girls, their lives were well depicted and I’m so glad they made Dom & Johns relationship a healthy one between two black people.
Joey was such a good character because she was a feminist and it got used against her by her own friends (something very realistic) not to mention how she kneeled during the game, something she did with good intentions but wasn’t exactly appreciated by Dom (reasonably so) and I’m so glad they seem to be on the way to become good friends, those two together would be UNSTOPPABLE.
Sid was also very great! The representation of the “burden” that comes with immigrant parents and going against their traditional norms was well done.
Leila was a freaking nightmare and I love it! It’s good to show that not every POC/feminist is as understanding or even good just because they are a minority. She was selfish, bitter and disgusting the way she talked about Joey but she constantly made herself out to be the victim, and I think it’s realistic to show that not every character/person comes to understand where they’re wrong and tries to improve, sometimes people get so stuck in their own ways they refuse to change.
This show was great, wish they’d make another season.
Of course boy problems are big in school life but come one girl what did you expect you’re a freshman and he’s like a junior why are you crying over a boy who clearly don’t want you ✨😂

@@judeakudinobi5259 no its not better. I loved both, but from the soundtrack, to the visuals, to the acting, to the storylines, Euphoria clearly won. I could tell in Grand Army at times it sounded like they were speaking straight from a script. They're all talented, but the only one who 100% captivated was Odessa who played Joey. She did an insane job with her part. Definitely up with Euphoria acting standards.

I didn't had high expectations when I start watching the show at first, but I can easily say that this is one of the best shows I've watched. It presents a genuine image of being a teen in todays world, has outstanding acting and an interesting storyline that contains dealing with important issues in a seldom realistic way

i know it’s been like 2 years since we watched this show but this was a pretty realistic depiction of how teenagers in high school act, at least in New York. most people who find it unrealistic are probably from suburban areas if you go to an urban school this was definitely relatable even down to the slang.
I always get giddy when i see shows have locations that i’m familiar with like the brooklyn public library, as stupid as it is😂

I think it’s weird for me cause I’m from Brooklyn and I’ve been apart of the school system forever now but I had to keep in mind that this was a specialized school. Or a school like James Madison/ Murrow/ midwood, more diverse. So i think they did a good a job on a certain type of representation.
The bomb threat reminded me of the one that happened by midwood in the train station. It was false but I remember my school (in the bay) making sure we went straight home.

unfortunately the ratings of the show were amazing but due to alleged racial abuse/exploitation of black workers, they quit, so lack of writers and production will affect a show. therefore they cancelled it.
