Great to see vintage people still enjoying the hobby too,A wealth of experience and knowledge that benefits all of us without them even knowing, thank you 👌
Nice to have someone capture the essence of aero modelling. I missed the spectacle of Cocklebarrow from previous years passed and hoped someone would restart videos of this event, thank you.
I visited the site back on 2019 at the end of the last day. Only two souls in the car park and no flying. Happy just to have found the field and can understand its appeal. I’m from New Zealand.
Excellent photography. Wonderful memories of sunny days at Fairlop in the late forties. The models are familiar but the fliers have turned into grandads. So much more worthwhile than endless video0games.
Mark, thank you taking us all to Cocklebarrow again, it is still on my bucket list but living thousands of miles away, you may be my only salvation ! Thanks again for your content, I greatly enjoy it.
Absolutely brilliant Mark-!!-I'm building a 'Falcon"-from the kit,-& getting a lot of great idea's-from your "channel"-I have old "frog 500"-to put in her !!--just loving it !!
A great day was had by all by the look of it Mark, I even recognised 'Ted' who flies at our club in the south west, I think he and his brother organise the event, thanks for sharing, cheers
Pleased you enjoyed the video, thanks for the comment. With regards events near Essex, there is Old Warden this weekend at Biggleswade, and there are Bucky Power Strugglers and SAM 35 events coming up at BMFA Buckminster, all vintage oriented, hope that helps
Ah, nostalgia... Nostalgia's not what it was back in my day [joke]. Today's 2.4GHz radios are excellent, but I do miss the old 27MHz etiquette of checking for a free channel (there were originally only 6, but they introduced another 6 'in-between' frequencies later on). You'd swap crystals if necessary, getting dirty looks if you were using a 'split' frequency [because some receivers weren't great at rejecting interference from nearby channels]. Then you'd check you were displaying the right channel ribbon (which was also a handy wind-direction indicator), before taking the coloured clothes-peg off the all-important peg board and clipping it onto your Tx's (4' long!) aerial before flying. You couldn't fly without the right peg on your aerial; it meant the channel was already in use. Sessions were also more relaxed when you could only have a couple of models SAFELY airborne at once (because of the dodgy receivers which were prone to responding to adjacent channel interference). If your channel was in use, you'd watch the planes, listen to the larks, have a cup of tea and a bag of crisps and relax till your frequency was free. Nowadays, with unlimited reliable frequency options, things can get a bit hectic.
Please, can anyone tell me what is that white and blue wonderful model at 01:55 and whose design is it?... Please! I would like to search if it is comercially available or by a plan!... It's a very nice model with a nice flying/gliding behaviour and it's kind a like Dynaflite's "Butterfly"! There are gorgeous models on the video - it's a very nice video, Mark, thank you! - and they challenge us to go, build and fly a model! I wish I was there at the show! Many greetings from Portugal! Paulo

@@MarkRobinson555 , Wow!... Spot on! I've been already searched for it in Outerzone and Aerofred but, without the name, it has been challenging! Thank you very, very much Mark for your answer and your trouble on answering (link to outerzone, included)! Really apreciate your effort! Keep on sending videos! Have a nice day, Mark!
I would have thought that the sign at the beginning of the video was common sense, but then again, I guess some people have no common sense these days, thank you for the video, Mark looks like a good time. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
love the older floater planes! just nice looking, very graceful and can glide down if engine stalls. Also got to love the reliable OS, satio and other 4 strokes. pays to have a nice reliable engine at the front pulling your scratch built plane.
I landed my Aeronca C3 - with me in it - at a model rally at Cocklebarrow in 1998. It was the only full size aeroplane there!

@@MarkRobinson555 I'd love to Mark, one of these days, it's a 2.5 hrs journey, I'd have to make a weekend out of it 🤔👍
Are there any events like this near Essex? Everything seems to be either, far north or far east of England. Awesome video by the way. Cheers.

What design is the model with G-ELLA on its side at about 2:44?
@@stearman52 not sure, but I think I will be seeing the owner at the weekend so I will ask 😀
@@MarkRobinson555
Thank you!
I think it might be a Comet Clipper going by the cowl shape.
The G-Ella is his own design, he is a very gifted builder and pilot. Hope that helps 😀

Thank you for asking, Mark. It is a very attractive design.
