Hockey was better in these days. At least the playoffs. It was the clutch & grab era, so it could be tedious to watch at times during the regular season. But the playoffs were always intense & had a dynamic to them that made them more entertaining than today's hockey imo (especially the hits).
It took 9 years and a shortened season later for the Maple Leafs to get back to the playoffs and it's been 14 years and they still haven't gotten back to the 2nd round. And it's been 51 years since they won a Stanley Cup. And counting.
Pomerlain89 getting beat in a game 7 against Pittsburgh and Washington isn’t getting spanked. Getting swept by an 8th seed when you had the greatest regular season in history, now THAT is getting spanked.
Flyers fan here. Remember this like yesterday. Kapanen was a hero.
I remember watching that live. However, I remember Jim Jackson as the broadcaster
One of the greatest games ever. This series made me a Flyers fan for life.
leafs fan, also remember like yesterday lol
here after the sandbagger
This game happened days before Friends went off the air.
Pat French lmfao random but thanks for that fun fact
One of the biggest hits of all time

I was at that game. Great hit but what a letdown on the Roenick goal !
Sandbagger brought me here.
Flyers need to bring back the black flyers jersey from that era as a third .
20 years today. How is that possible?? Time goes way too fast.
I often credit this as the moment I became a diehard flyers fan as a 10 year old kid
I remember I was visiting my family in Greece at the time watching that at an internet Cafe that's when. It was enjoyable to be a leafs fan
And now with his son kasperi on the team he wants the leafs to win a cup hah
Tucker would be suspended for that hit in today's NHL.
is hockey still a man's game?
For a small guy, Tucker threw one of the biggest hits of all time.
probably one of the saddest days in leafs history lol

😵
And then the Flyers got spanked by the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Lightning went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Winning in 7 games is not the definition of spanking anyone.

The Philadelphia broadcast was much better, even ESPN for that matter. Cbc was as usual, boring. Leave it to Sportsnet to play the cbc version.
Maybe so, but, I love Bob Cole's voice drop when his beloved Laffs are eliminated.
Shitting on Bob Cole is wild - that dude is a legend
