If you are a content creator or just a standard viewer, I encourage you to share this or some of the points of this with your communities. Feel free to react to this video if you want to. But the only way epic games will notice and start taking notes is if a ton of people start talking about it. I love this game and I want to make sure this lasts as long as possible. Also please watch the WHOLE VIDEO which will answer most of the questions that are brought up in the comment section
I like the video. I hope that epic sees this video. Or a larger content creator like ninja sees it since he's very vocal about the problems in Fortnite.
My honest thoughts: I strongly believe the whole Metaverse thing served as a gateway for Epic Games to gain more money. I personally don't like Metaverse stuff, but it could be done right unlike how it's handled ATM. Collabs have been run to the ground over time. Collaborations serve as a cherry on top of a great season making it even more special. Also, the "surprise factor" is just absolutely gone nowadays. Especially when content gets leaked early before anything even comes out, & it ruins the hype & speculation. Overall, collabs have just now became a part of the Fortnite Formula to the point of collabs being expected every season now. It shouldn't ever be that way, & that's not what made Fortnite special in the first place (mainly back in 2018 days). Lastly I don't think Fortnite will die anytime soon, but eventually it'll go down the route like COD to where people are just naturally tired of the franchise. After so many years of constantly playing & playing you naturally just get burnout, & I'm honestly already hitting my limit. I personally don't have the passion for the game as I used to, but other players will still play & like it which is fine. Despite the lifespan, nothing lasts forever, because the one thing nothing can beat is Father Time. Its popularity will eventually die down, & people will want something fresh & new once again continuing the cycle of gaming. But after all, that's just my thoughts on the matter. Excuse the LONG paragraphs lol.😅
You just don't get to apologize and just move on. What lesson did you learn. How to say a meaningless apology? When you make a mistake, you man up and fix that mistake along with apologize. Without fixing your mistake. Your apology means nothing to anyone but you. Selfish people most often apologize. Just to make themselves feel better about a situation they f up in. They aren't apologizing for sorrow. They apologize just to end the conversation and save face. You deleting a vod show how wrong doesn't fix anything. It helps you save face. You'd need to make a vod and trash yourself in the same fashion. Leave it up for years. And it would have to get close to the same amount of views. And face it. You will never gonna do what's right. Because you believe sorry is enough on your end. Just be the right man always. And this is why knowing is half the battle.
When I saw the fine print on the new crew system, I was baffled. I tried calling it out, but people are so short sighted, they only saw the benefit of getting 4 passes for $12. That also relates to the toxic positivity you talked about. I really think a big thing that will play a role in killing Fortnite is toxic positivity.
He wanted the Metaverse he litterally posted the Metaverse image in 2017 of December and when he left Epic when all the 3 modes of ch5 released Donald Mustard literally posted about it Donald wanted the Metaverse Tim Sweeney just had a different way than Donald but after the modes of ch5 he quickly learned we wanted shooter games so he had Epic add more as a different approach for the Metaverse
You're dumb lol. Donald from DAY 1 planned out the metaverse. It was never gonna be BR forever. Man, you all love twisting other's words just to fit your own agenda lol.
@@ryanfares263Donald Mustard also created that idea before the Fortnite storyline even existed. He could've changed his mind about how he wanted it implemented
Fortnite's always gonna have people playing it and thats wonderful. But consumers deserve to have they're time money and investment into the game respected.
@@NotLegendary_YTwdym Money my friend plays Fortnite since Chapter 5 Season 4 and has greatly Fun and doesnt spend a Penny and can buy the next Battle Pass for free because of the free 300 V Bucks you get every Battle Pass and then can buy the Pass every Season and "Time" if you dont want to play dont play if you want to play play its that easy
The absolute last thing the game could do to make me quit playing it is by removing the ability to earn v-bucks from the founders edition of save the world. I've saved so much money by earning the currency even after spending $60. Even after nerfing the founders edition, it's still proven valuable to this day.
@@memer7565that’s not why it’s because save the world was out of development because epic was just done with it so they just started selling packs. They were selling founders when save the world was still in development because you were a “founder” to the game
It’s taken me an entire Chapter after getting back into the game again that I should really start putting my Founders edition to use, and really start keeping up with those Daily Quests. 29,200 V-bucks a year minimum just from a Daily Quest every day is insane. It sucks that Save the World had to be discounted, because the game mode had a lot more potential and that Founders edition was a steal (which I heard costs like $300 for a code now).
This is gonna sound dumb, but I will be pretty disappointed if they stop making OG passes, even if it's to put the other Battle Passes in again. I've been trying to say for years now (since Chapter 3) that Fortnite should remaster their older, popular skins, which is exactly what the OG pass did. I know you don't care much about the ideas of breathing life into older skins, especially since your video at large is more about the *moral* decay of Epic Games than the content decay, but it's just a little demoralizing to see people talking about any design based on a previous design as a "Walmart brand" "copycat" "ugly redesign" etc.
I have a fiery burning hatred for Epic Games, from the CEO being what appears to be having manchild behaviour, to unreasonable disgusts towards the platform of choice, whether it be Linux or Xbox, they care about nothing and will make sure to annoy you at every chance they get. To hell with this company.
@MegatronSturdy Its 50 extra so that buying 1000 vbucks will leave you with none leftover. Before this in chapter 5, completing the 100 tiers gives you 900 meaning if you had 50 after buying a pass, you can't afford it. This is a shady buisness technique that isn't new sadly
I mean, I did notice that they put the vbucks in the bonus rewards because I always count, but since I was on and off at the time, I never really noticed the bonus reward thing, yeah its kinda scummy
This is a video I feel I need to make in the vain hope that Epic Games will see this and realize how thin the ice is beneath them. Like comment and subscribe and please send this to people who play fortnite. They deserve to know the truth
Also ngl, it sucks being a player who doesn't care about collabs, they always integrate collab skins into everything now, battlepasses, heck even winterfest this year. Around 70% of shop is just collab skins, making it incredibly difficult to get any skin I want, and I've been waiting for months for electro shuffle to come back, but the low amount of original content in the shop has made a regular (still epic rarity in my heart) emote not come back for over 100 days.
4:03 skins like Deadpool have returned (he doesn't have a Lego style), but I still understand the point you are trying to make ...otherwise, this is an awesome vid! :D
Great video! I don't know if it is my phone and pc but the video does not feel like a 1080p video. It often has lower quality but if you fix that you're really good!
When I started this video, I originally thought it was gonna be some dude complaining about problems that are miniscule. After finishing this video, I realized the flaws with Fortnite. Although, there were a few nitpicks from me (Battle Passes nowadays give 1000, not 900, & item prices are getting better after community backlash), I feel like this is a really informative and unique video on the topic of Fortnite's state. Could I see Fortnite failing anytime soon? Not exactly. Epic Games has a deck of wild cards. They knew by bringing back OG and the old exclusive items that they would make a quick buck. There are a bunch of other things that they could do to make more money (Returning Battle Pass Items, a handful of collabs, updating Save the World, etc.). However, the issue isn't in the money, it's in the customers. Like you stated, if the customers feel betrayed, they won't feel the need to return. Epic has publicly stated that they are on track to achieve all of their internal goals up to 2030, which, as long as nothing goes horribly wrong, should mean that there's at least 5 years left of Fortnite. I also remember hearing someone at Epic stating that they wanted to merge the metaverses of Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox, and although I think this is ridiculous and probably won't be possible without rewriting all of them in one coding language, having partners closely-knit could potentially save the game if they got into a rough situation. Those are just my thoughts. I have slight bias considering I am a big fan of Fortnite. Been playing since Chapter 1 Season 4, and I have never outright quit ever. I am taking classes in the game dev industry right now and actually have my own dream game that I am working on, so this has all been very important for me to pay attention to. Thanks for making this video. This really made me think about the future of this game.
As much as i love playing this game, especially this chapter and ch1 returning I really cannot deny Epic’s shady practices since… well ch3 Especially during ch4 and ch5… never forget the 900 employees laid off for skibidi toilet tycoon 2
This game is an absolute joke now. I still enjoy playing it and so I will continue to but it’s 100% a shell of what it once was. The soul of the game is being sacrificed for overpriced bullshit in the item shop on top of the things they were already making bank with before introducing the new crap like 1k vbuck shoes. That still blows my damn mind and pisses me off. They shouldn’t be asking for more than like 500 vbucks. The locker changes/rarity removal still really pises me off to this day. Also can we mention that new skully skin in the shop right now? Why is that not a style? Like are they seriously charging the same price as the original skin for something that would’ve just been a brand new style like two years ago? Atleast make it CHEAPER. The original skully has two styles this new version has one. You brought up the battlepass Vbucks bs they pulled but I’m ngl I never found that a big deal. I always finish every pass and the bonus rewards were more of the shit I paid for I never treated 100 as the end of the pass cause I paid for everything in it and am going to get it all so I’d say that’s more of a personal issue for people and not a major one like some other things cause if your buying it you should be trying to earn everything you paid for regardless of where the vbucks are in my opinion. It’s still bullshit though to change it for no reason and then the next chapter raise the price by 50 vbucks. If I want spit on I go to call of duty. If I wanted treated well I went to Fortnite but now I guess I’m just getting spit on in both places by different rich Aholes.
Honestly I love the cars cause they are awsome but the only problem is that they are 2,800 vbucks which isn’t bad but if they were 2,000 each that would be awsome
I hate how they made it not possible for people to get the next battle pass for free I'm a big grinding and have never not 100% a battle pass that means all main rewards, bonus rewards, quest rewards (if included), and secret skin rewards. but now that you can't get the next battle pass for free makes it seem useless
At the start of chapter five i was able to find loads of really well made creative games, but eventually everything got buried under Red vs Blue ai generated maps so i don't even bother trying anymore
The cost for the cars probably got boosted by the fact that the rights to use the cars likeness cost so much. The same with shoes and Collabs. They just cost more than normal content.
It was still about 24-36$ for a car skin and IMO it should be like 12-20$ I know they have to pay for licensing but it's still unreasonable and now it's a little better
Obviously Epic is becoming more corporate and money grabbing oriented, is logical when his new shareholders are megacorporations as Disney, LEGO, Paramount... Tencent is a great corporation too and they was a part that why they created a F2P mode and added the microtransactions but these new "partners" are more money greedy and the expect bigger numbers and they are not used the videogame industry in some aspects. Fortnite is becoming more expensive, then the players must choose wisely when and where are spending their money if they do. They are BUYING NOTHING, the are getting a license to use some set of pixel in a game that can close any day, ban them from their borrowed accounts or make any content disappear as they STATED CLEARLY in the new version of their EULA. For me is funny to see how everyone is omitting that they launched the OG shop just after some days of the new EULA when everyone in the game had accepted it.
Great video man, honestly people should know more about this. I had been gathering a few suspicions about Epic, and this confirmed them… I love this game, and will keep hoping it steers itself away from it’s current path.
i learnt a huge lesson when i came back to the game after a year unknowing of what epic games is like nowadays and chose the og pass and didnt check how big it was compared to the normal one before doing so
You had me when you said find any Red Vs Blue or AI thumbnail. I’d also like to add box fights and the overuse of fishstick and peely. Well done video all around!
Until Fortnite get his stuff together, I’m done because after I lost my OG account I stopped playing for a long time until recently, but I’m getting ready to leave again permanently and it’s all their fault really
The discovery system is totally bias always the same maps and in the tab that should be based op play history i see things like racing maps, lego maps, tycoon maps while i only play 1v1, battle royale ranked and ballistic ranked.
@@ProYapperMatthew Yeah, but he didn't want it at the expense of his storyline. The metaverse is good in concept, there needs to be more changes made in order to make it good.
@@NotLegendary_YT This is true, but we gotta remember epic lost a good sum of money from that FTC shit. Even if epic is a multibillion dollar company, that’s still a large sum of money no matter who/what it is
I can’t believe I’m watching the game that I have been playing for for less than a year fall in front of my eyes of the game that I love I just started making content creation and I was thinking about making it on Fortnite but instead, I made it on rocket league because I don’t want to do it anymore😢
I found some details pretty fun. At beginning you stated your POV as a college student... In the third part of the video you are suddenly an expert... an incredible evolution indeed in less than half an hour. Wrecked had the smallest peak in the first day, probably not related that previous season had a 18 hours delay at first day and most of the people didn't made the same error of ask for a free day or wake up early to wait to servers to open and they preferred to play the new season at the weekend. Is the first time that I watch, read or hear about someone don't having enough vbucks to buy the BP from the last BP, because EVERYONE noticed of the change as we were waiting for something like that after the OG pass only give us 1000 vbucks, and I usually play with casual players... but they are adults that look it before spending their money and know that basic economy is not spending more money than you have, and you don't need cosmetics to survive as they are not edible. Can you explain me how they beat the record again at the event between Remix and chapter 6 if people are so angry and tired of the game? There 2 major points you are ignoring on purpose, the community crying and ranting in the net are an small percentage of players and most of them keep playing because they liked but ranting in the net is cool, and most of the numbers of player are not near this community they are a big massive ever evolving and renewing wave of casual players that come to the game most of the time because the events or the collabs, some keep playing, some come and go, some never return, some will return some months or years later and other just will play if they friends prefer to play this game instead any other.
@ I only get the Fortnite crew since I still like the game and only like less than a month left in the season, that way I already completed all the tiers, which then I don’t have to worry about about having it revoked from me.
@NotLegendary_YT facts, like let me build my awesome builds. That's why I try to be a rat and do zero in game purchases, and just get all the free stuff.
Players made rarity ah thing !!! Epic backed that up being ah thing !!! The fact others don’t want others to obtain skins just proves The gate keeping !!!! I’m glad epic returning skins Been playing since November 2019
Fair point but Fortnite won’t die because of prices. If they have less people buying because of cosmetics prices then prices will just down. But if people buy more then it will increase. If epic starts losing tons of revenue due to less conversions because of high prices and unfair shady business tactics. Then they will tone it down and tend more to the consumers. And then repeat. I’m telling you this now Fortnite will be like Minecraft. It will have its ups and downs (from popular to unpopular) but it has reached a certain status and longevity where it will always have some sort of relevance in the gaming industry. People come and go and then come back later like myself. For Fortnite Crew it’s a great deal if you play the game a lot if you were to be smart just buy it on the last day, claim all the items and get rid of it, if you don’t have a ton of levels then just don’t buy. And if a person is dumb enough on not making the right financial decisions that’s on them. The only issue that I could kinda see is there marketing and there inability to tend to a larger key word consistent audience. But I don’t see them dying any time in a long while because of it just having little growth over time. At university every guy that I know that has a gaming console or PC plays Fortnite. But yet again everything comes to an end even humanity and especially the internet I just won’t bet money on Fortnite dying anytime soon. People thought Minecraft, Madden, 2k, Call of Duty etc even Fortnite back in season 8. But yet there all here and maybe they will stay even for are lifetime. Who knows a EMP could hit tomorrow and it can all be gone.
My point is that all of these things are making people angry and then apathetic and angry players can still be placated. Apathetic players are likely to leave for good, and that is what I don't want to happen. I love the game but apathy is Fortnite's poison, greed only leads to apathy and that is what destroys buisnesses and brands. I hope fortnite doesn't fall this way and lasts for years, but as you said, time will tell
I totally agree that OG will be a better option as a different mode without bots and without SBMM (or EOMM), but I would love too that differentiate more public modes and ranked in BR, as they are supposed to be oriented to different publics with different interests... But Epic don't feel the same and they have the data from the servers to really make the numbers match. I think the main problem is that we are used to think that all the community is represented in the net, but they are not, we are a small percentage with a great involvement and interest in the game: we have the competitive that are pretty vocal and have a huge impact (no matter if they are a small part of a small percentage of the community) and opposing them another small part that like to call themselves CASUALs but they are not: they are fans... A casual really don't spent time talking about the game outside of they group of friends or following news, they play any game they feel like in the moment or just do any other activity, because that's what casual mean no an special involvement or interest in the matter.
This video was hard to watch but it’s all true😔 I honestly haven’t been this concerned for a game before, I’ve already put so much time and money into this game and it’s the one game I can always come back to. I don’t want to lose that, but I know for a fact that epic will be too stubborn to do anything before it’s far too late, people have been complaining about this for years why would epic listen now? It’s sad to see my favorite game fall apart because of greedy management 💔
Ch6 has 1million+ players on the game so it is not dying plus OG and Ballistic have tons of players and Reload is still doing really well and Fortnite is not adding too much Lego Fortnite and Rocket Racing and Festival are mostly for new players and the battle passes are being added so people don't get bored after completing 1 Fortnite are bringing back exclusive cosmetics and rare cosmetics to bring many people back
I agree with many of those points, but looking at epic from a moral standpoint, they are caring much less about the integrity of their company. Chapter 6 is NOT in danger of dying, but these issues, like the ones in chapter 5 will build on themselves and I DONT want that to happen. This video is mainly to try and reach Epic, so that they realize how these changes will affect players
As a map creator I get frustrated with big map creators playing into the repetition of discovery as they have the platform and opportunity to make really unique and interesting maps
I found a map that recreated another game I used to play on ps3 call battlefield 1943 or battlefield43 in the search tab if you want to play it and it’s better than the pit that everyone plays
@@NotLegendary_YT I also used to want to make maps but now I know there’s no point. I always wanted to make a map with lore and a storyline, like a mini br, but now I know that everyone will ignore it and go to play “Skibidi vs sigma red vs blue box fight ffa pit” or whatever those idiots like.
I agreed with almost everything you said till you dropped your OG bots opinion… I am not going to waste my life on FORTNITE BATTLE ROYALE. I just want to get a few win with my friends on fortnite OG, relive the nostalgia and keep the sweats away; bots make that happen, not real players.
We need the genuine fortnite back. Not this. Negative clone. Why has fortnite did this, I don't know. I'm just a fortnite veteran. That has moved on from fortnite kinda. Well who am I too judge. Fortnite is just going there way. Edit: fortnite is definitely close too being dead in the water. I've semi quit. But you'll never know. They might surprise us in the future.
That’ll probably be the last season I play really I’m a new player. My accountant was hacked. I force thousands of dollars in this game. What do Fortnite do cater towards the people who stole my account I almost left for good my friend is the only one making me wanna stayand it won’t be long until I’m even tired of that but hey, it’s all fun games to let the hacker attack people’s accounts and make crappy ass decisions until everyone’s gone
Some correction is needed! ;-) There is nothing "Dark", just business tactical changes to make players play a game, to earn rewards, like it was always. Only the structure of the rewarding system was changed over the chapters and seasons. If a player play the game more, then they can unlock more in-game rewards, including the in-game currency, which can be used to buy next Battle Pass and/or in-game Item Shop items, cosmetics. This is how a "Free to play" game model can work! The other one is, by getting donations from players, without receiving any rewards in the game, to keep the game alive. But this one is not sustainable, because the donations are uncertain. The mentioned problem are REAL and need to be fixed and CAN BE FIXED! The critique: This video essay format could be fine, but sadly it based on inaccurate data and information about the reward systems, which the game is using (Battle Pass and other game mode passes, Fortnite Crew, etc.), therefore it is misleading. Next time please be more accurate, do the research flawlessly, take your time to make a better essay. The format is good, the video quality is bad (for me at least, low quality and pixelated), the reasoning is good, but have MAJOR issue, because it was based on inaccurate information and misunderstanding. It is a mixed bag, sadly. To be clear: If a videogame can NOT BE played OFFLINE, with earned or bought in-game goods, then the play is just have earned or bought the RIGHT TO USE those and NOT OWN them in any meaning of the word. I think you called this one "renting". Sadly there are not just in-game goods, but WHOLE GAMES are working following this business model. Some games that people spent money on them, but they can not play anymore: Ring of Elysium (Free-to-play online Battle Royale game, which I played and can not play anymore), CrossfireX, Babylon’s Fall, Lawbreakers, Apex Legends: Mobile, Rumbleverse, Knockout City, Radical Heights, The Day Before, The Culling 2, Concord, The Crew, etc. Most of the games are "Live-Service Games" now, which players can not play anymore, if the service get shot down. Even the single player story games, which copy is still exists on the device of the player can NOT be run anymore, because the game was developed that way, it needs an internet connection to the server of the publisher/maintainer. WE, players, ARE NOT OWN GAMES ANYMORE! More accurate info about the Battle Pass in Fortnite: If you refer to Battle Pass levels as Tiers, then please notice that, from Chapter 2 Season 7 there are no 100 Levels/Tiers. The BP had 10 pages, but with 90 Levels. While in Chapter 2 Season 6, if you reached the tier, Level 100, you unlocked the Spire Assassin outfit and the Tower Guard built-in emote and additional levels needed to the "Superlevel rewards", but the next season the Battle Pass GUI was changed to a "Page system", if wanted to unlock the last outfit in the BP (Rick Sanchez), then you only needed to reach Level 90 at page 10 and "Superlevel Rewards" were changed and moved to the 3rd-5th page (5 pages total) of the "Bonus Rewards". So with reaching Lvl 90 in Chapter 2 Season 7 was enough to unlock everything from the Battle Pass, including the 1500 V-Bucks. This was the case until Chapter 4 Season 1, where you got the last outfit, The Ageless at Lvl 86 and his built-in emote the Call to Arms with a new style, at Lvl 94 on page 14, with all the in-game currency, that can be earned. The Chapter 4 Season OG was a test run to a new reward system, where some of the in-game currency was moved to the "Bonus Rewards". The BP had 7 pages, 800 VB, Omegrok outfit at Lvl 46, on page 7. The remaining 200 VB, which can be earned, was moved to the 1st page of the "Bonus Rewards". This was the FIRST TIME, when completing the Battle Pass was NOT ENOUGH to earn all the V-Bucks! With the arrival of Chapter 5 Season 1, the Battle Pass reward system was changed again. Now, last outfit, the Valeria Everburn style was unlockable at Level 94 completing the full BP, but you just got 1000 V-Bucks, because the "Bonus rewards" got stretched to 7 pages from the former 5, and 500 more VB can be earned, completing the pages until page 4. From page 5-7 there were the "super styles". Now, in Chapter 6 Season 1, the Battle Pass was adjusted a bit. Normal BP rewards up to 90 levels, last cosmetic is The Tactical Night Rose style on page 14. The "Bonus Rewards" expanded with 1 more page, therefore it have 8 instead of the former 7. The bonus pages are similar to the Chapter 5 Battle passes. 500 more VB can be earned, completing the pages until page 4. Page 5 has additional styles for earlier earned rewards, 1 loading screen, 1 banner,1 lobby music track and 1 spray. From page 5-8, there are the "super styles".
I mean like you bring up a fair point of user dissatisfactions when they see a company choose greed above all else and the manipulative aspects of achieving more dollars, but comparing the game to literal p2w elements such as madden or diablo is unfair. What actually is going to kill the game is its gameplay truly. Look at valorant for example, they have these insane skin prices that people pushback on for sure, but the gameplay still stands and has a huge esports scene till this day. I think if you wanted to push the narrative that they're using manipulative tactics to sell worthless cosmetics, target the entire f2p industry as a whole and why that model of gaming is more of a scam than other games. W vid tho man I would love to see more of this content.
Thanks for pointing out the decrease in vbucks i knew smth felt weird since ch5 s1 but epic is doing illegal activities and arent being punished? Because as i understand the EULA changes made to crew were never told to people.
Rarities don't make skins "special" they were an arbitrary system to let them sell cosmetics at certain prices. They could add any rarity to any skin to sell it for any price. They can still do that. Rarities are dumb and its easier to find items without them. You do still get 1500 Vbucks from finishing the pass. You stop getting rewards at 201 not 100 so they didn't change their statement, you just have to play a bit more. This was a change due to the original OG season as there was simply less tiers with a smaller time limit with only 300 in the bonus. I do however feel completely overwhelmed with 4 whole passes. Especially when the others are more expensive and dont offer Vbucks. The change to add XP progression across all 4 is fine but now it ruins the point of playing OG, Festival or Lego. Why should I play them if I can grind out their 25-60 levels in BR. OG pass doesn't feel OG if I don't have to play OG
Most of these are big changes from systems and things people had for years and big change takes a long time to get used to. Making some good points though!
this video does bring up a lot of good points, but also some bad or just wrong points, so lets go through them: 1. festival pass and similar passes are overpriced: nope! not even close, 1800 vbucks for the festival pass looks steep in comparison to the battle pass, but it includes a skin (or 4 if you're the metallica pass) which would be 1500 (6000) in the item shop, alongside multiple jam tracks worth 500 each, and instruments costing a varying amount. the sum total value of the festival pass is well over 1800 vbucks. a similar story for other passes but i wont go into each of them 2. cosmetic rarities being removed does not make a quantifiable difference to value: basically what it says on the tin, if you feel like just because the color of the background of a skin it means its worth less to you, idk what to say other than boo hoo, its not a big deal, and it doesnt make a quantifiable difference to the actual value, so im not sure why its even being brought up here. 3. cosmetic rarities being removed did not result in cosmetics being upcharged: again, what it says on the tin. the 2 examples people always point to are hael and the avatar collab skins, but these are the only 2 examples people can ever think of, because its not happening. Hael is the rare overpriced skin we get every once in a while, he just happened to release at a bad time, and the avatar collab items arent even that overpriced compared to similar offerings from other collabs, additionally there is the possibility that the price of the items were out of epics control. 4. the amount of free vbucks in each battlepass did not changed this one just feels like a mistake on your end, although ironic considering its in the same section you talked about another creator not realising the vbuck distribution changed, but yeah, the 300 free vbucks that have always been there are still there, only the premium track vbucks changed position 5. the changes to fortnite crew are just how subscriptions work does it suck that once your crew subscription ends, you lose access to the premium passes? yeah, but lets not pretend like the crew wasnt WAY too much value before hand, subscribing ONCE in a season gave you 1-2 skins with whatever other cosmetics they come with, 1000 vbucks, the battle pass, and the rocket pass. already thats incredible value for the price, and epic including all of the other passes in that bundle just adds to it, so you cant really complain about not being able to level up the battle pass after your subscription runs out, when you got access to every pass, skins, AND 1000 VBUCKS ON TOP OF IT, thats enough to just buy the pass outright if you so wish
Oh, and lets not forget about the OG pass having a third of the amount of content as the regular battlepass, to cost the EXACT SAME. Thats just a scam.
my main issue is that epic also tries to erase the save the world mode from existence, it barely gets anything new, we just got a new mission in the game after idk how many years a month ago, the last one was i think dungeons in 2020 or 2019, and its at the bottom of the discovery tab, they also broke their promise on it that will become free after early access, you cant even get vbucks from missions anymore if you didnt bought it as a founder, when that new mission released also they didnt even make an annoucement post to even try to promote STW it really is the lesser known older brother
As soon as I finish levelling up this battle pass, I am cancelling my Crew. I would have cancelled it last month, but I am not finished leveling the battle pass. They got me :(
As everybody was said one thing can be taken from this… Greed… is the problem. Money changes people because they thing they have power and can use it to there advantage and no one can do anything about it and see that every company kinda does that now hurts because it shows that they don’t care that they rather have money more than actual love and passion. Epic if you see this comment think to yourself that did you make this game with love? Or with money intent?
The way fortnite is dying isn't because of greed. Greed just leads to it. But the real reason is the growing apathy in the community. Apathy destroys all buisnesses and in hindsight I would have mentioned that in the video
@@NotLegendary_YT I’ve come and go with Fortnite because of changes that I and many others don’t like. I like how Fortnite tried new things but the way it’s executed like you said I don’t like. If they could go into more consideration of how the community would react then maybe they won’t have most of the community in flames because of updates not received well. Especially the skin rarities being removed…
Honestly I’m getting to the point where I’m not going to return to Fortnite because I just don’t like the state of the game. Yeah changes need to be made so it feels fresh but when some or most updates don’t feel good or fun then it gets annoying after a while. I’ll still play right now because of friends but I don’t see myself playing in the future anymore.
So much truth to this video. Im glad you're trying to spread awareness i hope big content creators see this and talk about it. As something needs to be done.
Why? Are you just getting to 100 anyway? If you are you're paying for content you're not earning and they've got you by the balls long before shoving 500 further in
This is now the 2nd game franchise epic has that the fans feel extremely apathetic to them for various reasons. the company is doomed to fail simply because its trying to be to big. And it dosent help that Tim Sweeney has always chased trends to try and be big, That is how Unreal Engine got started, he saw IdSoftware got big and wanted that. and now he's wanting a better Roblox on UE5. of which they are building on the back of a PVE survival game that was also axed and doomed to slowly die. this company is alot worse than people think, once a more profitable game or w/e pops up in their lap Fortnite BR could be abandoned slowly in a heartbeat, they did it with Unreal Tournament, They did it with Paragon, They did it With Save the World, and they'll do it to Battle Royale if the opportunity presents itself.
Apathy is so much worse than anger, I hope Epic realizes that if people are made angry and not satisfied after a period, they will become apathetic and they loose those players for good
Honestly I don't believe "people stopped playing OG cause they added bots", no it's cause Season 1 is boring af and everyone realized that and simply moved back over to BR or Reload, they will 100% come back once it gets to the fun-er seasons like Season 3+. Plus you are ALWAYS going to have an inflated player count when something new launches as everyone will check it out initially even if they never intended to play it long term. Those people always were going to return to Chapter 6 and leave OG after it started regardless, like for me I primarily play Rocket Racing and Festival, I checked out the other modes always when they launch new content but then I go right back to ignoring them 90% of the time otherwise. Also as for the Vbucks in the pass thing, sure it would be better to have them in the "main" section but legit who isn't already earning the bonus rewards anyway? Fortnite may call them Bonus but really they are just more items of the same pass, you would be dumb to pay 1000 Vbucks for the pass and not attempt to get your full money's worth out of it earning everything, I wouldn't blame a company for my own mistake of stopping early before getting what I wanted out of it. Always check to see if there's anything you still want left. Of course, Epic is still shitty about a lot of other things so not completely excusing them but I still think those two are kinda moot points.
My honest thoughts:
I strongly believe the whole Metaverse thing served as a gateway for Epic Games to gain more money.
Dude, the leakers pointed this out too,I finshed everything ,I don't want Godzilla but I might be forced to if I like the OG pass skins
Donald Mustard never wanted any of this… it’s sensible why he left.
Mustard never retired
It’s kinda like how Jeff Kaplan left overwatch, but Donald was completely in the right
@@ryanfares263Donald Mustard also created that idea before the Fortnite storyline even existed. He could've changed his mind about how he wanted it implemented
i dont think fortnite will ever truely die but i think the same thing that happened to cod will happen to fortnite
Probably not, but its relevance is already dwindling.
The absolute last thing the game could do to make me quit playing it is by removing the ability to earn v-bucks from the founders edition of save the world. I've saved so much money by earning the currency even after spending $60. Even after nerfing the founders edition, it's still proven valuable to this day.
they lowkey hate the founders edition, and thats why they're not selling it anymore
@@memer7565that’s not why it’s because save the world was out of development because epic was just done with it so they just started selling packs. They were selling founders when save the world was still in development because you were a “founder” to the game
wait what???? i thought they completely killed the fonders edition, man i missed so much
It’s taken me an entire Chapter after getting back into the game again that I should really start putting my Founders edition to use, and really start keeping up with those Daily Quests.
I know you don't care much about the ideas of breathing life into older skins, especially since your video at large is more about the *moral* decay of Epic Games than the content decay, but it's just a little demoralizing to see people talking about any design based on a previous design as a "Walmart brand" "copycat" "ugly redesign" etc.
whats killing your modern games is just greed of the company behind it.
we have seen it over and over fortnite is no different
Chapter 5 had so much potential and it was all wasted. 😭
No it.s still there
Not legendary moving to video essays? Hell yeah
I love this style of vids
I never realized there weren't the full 1500 vbucks in the battle pass 100 tiers, thanks so much for letting me know
yeah the BONUS REWARDS
BOUNS REWARDS HAVE THE REST
Bonus rewards
It is in the bonus rewards, but it's shady that the change was made
Interesting video bro. Definitely some good points to think about.
Just glad I could spread the word. Thanks for checking this out man!
I feel this 100% !
Sadly, you’re right about all of these issues…
what ticks me off more is the fact they raised the battle pass to cost 1000 instead of 950, it's bullshit
yeah a measly 50 vbucks is definitely going to rob your life savings👍
@MegatronSturdy Its 50 extra so that buying 1000 vbucks will leave you with none leftover. Before this in chapter 5, completing the 100 tiers gives you 900 meaning if you had 50 after buying a pass, you can't afford it. This is a shady buisness technique that isn't new sadly
@NotLegendary_YT alright got it
Its just 50 vbucks bro, you aren’t missing anything
@@NotLegendary_YTfair, but at least you could just get the free vbucks in the next pass and buy it.
Every day, Epic is more like every greedy AAA company
I hate it
Because they are
Always has been
I mean, I did notice that they put the vbucks in the bonus rewards because I always count, but since I was on and off at the time, I never really noticed the bonus reward thing, yeah its kinda scummy
Only way Fortnite dies is GTA 6 drops tbh
Lol how?
Exactly, only small children will play it, gta 6 will be expensive, until it appears on pc in pirated form
4:03 skins like Deadpool have returned (he doesn't have a Lego style), but I still understand the point you are trying to make ...otherwise, this is an awesome vid! :D
“No Game Lasts Forever” - Not Legendary
I wish this wasn’t true..
Great video! I don't know if it is my phone and pc but the video does not feel like a 1080p video. It often has lower quality but if you fix that you're really good!
Yeah, some of the footage is from other creators so the quality might be a little inconsistent
Fortnite have more goals most likely so this game is most likely lasting forever
There are two passes since Ch4 that have 1000 vbucks in the 100 tiers, the rest have 900 vbucks in the 100 tiers. But glad you enjoyed it
Once GTA6 drops it will kill Fortnite from the inside out for me & a LOT of other players... I can't wait! 😁
As much as i love playing this game, especially this chapter and ch1 returning
I really cannot deny Epic’s shady practices since… well ch3
Especially during ch4 and ch5… never forget the 900 employees laid off for skibidi toilet tycoon 2
If I wanted treated well I went to Fortnite but now I guess I’m just getting spit on in both places by different rich Aholes.
the first minute of the video tells you why its 'doomed to die', no game lasts forever
I miss old fortnite. But epic showed us that well never get it back, like how it was in 2017
Nothing stays the same forever, you should know something like that from the start.
I just got the most legendary algorithm pull ever. More people NEED to see this. Keep going, man
Honestly I love the cars cause they are awsome but the only problem is that they are 2,800 vbucks which isn’t bad but if they were 2,000 each that would be awsome
I hate how they made it not possible for people to get the next battle pass for free I'm a big grinding and have never not 100% a battle pass that means all main rewards, bonus rewards, quest rewards (if included), and secret skin rewards. but now that you can't get the next battle pass for free makes it seem useless
Fuck are you talking about theres still 1500 total. I haven't paid for a battle pass in years
You can, but you need to reach level 140 to get all of the bucks instead of the usual level 100
@@Hi-Gaming-c4l but i dont get the pass for free why 🙁
Rough to take in, but sadly this is all true..
Fortnite has been losing all of its fun juice after chapter 2 ended, and only now has the fun juice been empty
At the start of chapter five i was able to find loads of really well made creative games, but eventually everything got buried under Red vs Blue ai generated maps so i don't even bother trying anymore
Why does it sound like the audio is recorded from inside a closet
That sums up my college dorm room for ya. I did make it a lot better than it originally was tho
Where is Donald Mustard when we need him most… 😢
W video W dark
I had been gathering a few suspicions about Epic, and this confirmed them…
I love this game, and will keep hoping it steers itself away from it’s current path.
i learnt a huge lesson when i came back to the game after a year unknowing of what epic games is like nowadays and chose the og pass
and didnt check how big it was compared to the normal one before doing so
Also if you cancel Fortnite crew, you can’t claim premium rewards anymore…..
I hope this video is a wake up call to fortnite!!
I better be
You had me when you said find any Red Vs Blue or AI thumbnail. I’d also like to add box fights and the overuse of fishstick and peely. Well done video all around!
People want the Fortnite we grew up with, not this corporate slop
lmao that MASSIVE joke tho at the end lmao
"A great civilization is not conquered from without, until it has destroyed itself from within."

The discovery system is totally bias always the same maps and in the tab that should be based op play history i see things like racing maps, lego maps, tycoon maps while i only play 1v1, battle royale ranked and ballistic ranked.
There is gonna be a Thin Client Feature in Summer of this year where you can download what modes you want to play so this is gonna fix it
Donald Mustard left - simple as that.
Donald wanted the metaverse is what y’all forget about
@@ProYapperMatthew Yeah, but he didn't want it at the expense of his storyline.
Music, og, lego passes are not worth it, the only good way in obtaining them is by fortnite crew.
Thats why it is targeted toward new players. Sadly it is a scummy business technique called one way subscriptions
@ I only get the Fortnite crew since I still like the game and only like less than a month left in the season, that way I already completed all the tiers, which then I don’t have to worry about about having it revoked from me.
@jjafk37wait, you lose the pass if your Fortnite crew doesn't last till the end of the pass?
@@arbalest327 It lasts until you would next be charged (Your billing date) not the ned of the pass

I’m glad epic returning skins

One thing wrong about this video, the chapter 1 battle passes did not award 1500 vbucks so this change was not in for 6 years, but 5 years.
You're totally right, I didn't realize that was the case for the first season and maybe the second as well
I totally agree that OG will be a better option as a different mode without bots and without SBMM (or EOMM), but I would love too that differentiate more public modes and ranked in BR, as they are supposed to be oriented to different publics with different interests...
Hello, it is Julian. I played Fortnite with you. Super red versus blue. I love your channel.
As a map creator I get frustrated with big map creators playing into the repetition of discovery as they have the platform and opportunity to make really unique and interesting maps
Welcome to my world, good to have you
I found a map that recreated another game I used to play on ps3 call battlefield 1943 or battlefield43 in the search tab if you want to play it and it’s better than the pit that everyone plays
Being Honest I'm kinda split on it. Bots are a nessecity, my problem is in the quantity of bots. 90 in low sbmm lobbies is way too much

Edit: fortnite is definitely close too being dead in the water. I've semi quit. But you'll never know. They might surprise us in the future.
Given that Fortnite is essentially trying to copy what made roblox successful, I'm curious how much this video can apply to it.

Some correction is needed! ;-)
There is nothing "Dark", just business tactical changes to make players play a game, to earn rewards, like it was always.
The critique:
This video essay format could be fine, but sadly it based on inaccurate data and information about the reward systems, which the game is using (Battle Pass and other game mode passes, Fortnite Crew, etc.), therefore it is misleading.
To be clear:
If a videogame can NOT BE played OFFLINE, with earned or bought in-game goods, then the play is just have earned or bought the RIGHT TO USE those and NOT OWN them in any meaning of the word. I think you called this one "renting".
Sadly there are not just in-game goods, but WHOLE GAMES are working following this business model.
Some games that people spent money on them, but they can not play anymore:
Ring of Elysium (Free-to-play online Battle Royale game, which I played and can not play anymore), CrossfireX, Babylon’s Fall, Lawbreakers, Apex Legends: Mobile, Rumbleverse, Knockout City, Radical Heights, The Day Before, The Culling 2, Concord, The Crew, etc.
More accurate info about the Battle Pass in Fortnite:
If you refer to Battle Pass levels as Tiers, then please notice that, from Chapter 2 Season 7 there are no 100 Levels/Tiers.
This video is emotionally dark!😢
I have the battle pass since I have Fortnite crew still but I’ve barely played this season, I got bored honestly and I’m still only level 17 or 18 💀
I mean like you bring up a fair point of user dissatisfactions when they see a company choose greed above all else and the manipulative aspects of achieving more dollars, but comparing the game to literal p2w elements such as madden or diablo is unfair.
Making some good points though!
this video does bring up a lot of good points, but also some bad or just wrong points, so lets go through them:
1. festival pass and similar passes are overpriced:
nope! not even close, 1800 vbucks for the festival pass looks steep in comparison to the battle pass, but it includes a skin (or 4 if you're the metallica pass) which would be 1500 (6000) in the item shop, alongside multiple jam tracks worth 500 each, and instruments costing a varying amount. the sum total value of the festival pass is well over 1800 vbucks. a similar story for other passes but i wont go into each of them
2. cosmetic rarities being removed does not make a quantifiable difference to value:
basically what it says on the tin, if you feel like just because the color of the background of a skin it means its worth less to you, idk what to say other than boo hoo, its not a big deal, and it doesnt make a quantifiable difference to the actual value, so im not sure why its even being brought up here.
3. cosmetic rarities being removed did not result in cosmetics being upcharged:
again, what it says on the tin. the 2 examples people always point to are hael and the avatar collab skins, but these are the only 2 examples people can ever think of, because its not happening. Hael is the rare overpriced skin we get every once in a while, he just happened to release at a bad time, and the avatar collab items arent even that overpriced compared to similar offerings from other collabs, additionally there is the possibility that the price of the items were out of epics control.
4. the amount of free vbucks in each battlepass did not changed
this one just feels like a mistake on your end, although ironic considering its in the same section you talked about another creator not realising the vbuck distribution changed, but yeah, the 300 free vbucks that have always been there are still there, only the premium track vbucks changed position
5. the changes to fortnite crew are just how subscriptions work
does it suck that once your crew subscription ends, you lose access to the premium passes? yeah, but lets not pretend like the crew wasnt WAY too much value before hand, subscribing ONCE in a season gave you 1-2 skins with whatever other cosmetics they come with, 1000 vbucks, the battle pass, and the rocket pass. already thats incredible value for the price, and epic including all of the other passes in that bundle just adds to it, so you cant really complain about not being able to level up the battle pass after your subscription runs out, when you got access to every pass, skins, AND 1000 VBUCKS ON TOP OF IT, thats enough to just buy the pass outright if you so wish
Oh, and lets not forget about the OG pass having a third of the amount of content as the regular battlepass, to cost the EXACT SAME. Thats just a scam.
my main issue is that epic also tries to erase the save the world mode from existence, it barely gets anything new, we just got a new mission in the game after idk how many years a month ago, the last one was i think dungeons in 2020 or 2019, and its at the bottom of the discovery tab, they also broke their promise on it that will become free after early access, you cant even get vbucks from missions anymore if you didnt bought it as a founder, when that new mission released also they didnt even make an annoucement post to even try to promote STW
it really is the lesser known older brother
As soon as I finish levelling up this battle pass, I am cancelling my Crew. I would have cancelled it last month, but I am not finished leveling the battle pass. They got me :(
You have truly opened my eyes, thank you truly
As a former TF2 player, I know a game with staying power when I see one. Fortnite is here to stay.
OH NO! I can’t believe this is happening for the 412th time since the game came out. Is this really it??? (This time around)
Great vid man I totally agree with what u said what I would say improve on is only the mic quality and the background video quality
I wish they bring back cosmetic rarity, it was a core part of convincing me to buy skins in the first place.
Yes I think its dead
It won't die for awhile, but these issues if unaddressed will cause most players to leave the game after a number of months or years.
And yes I got Aerial Assault Trooper and renegade raider
And yes I got the founders pack to get save the world to grind v bucks
I just feel bore playing Fortnite again
@@Christophersonicmoorehoward I wish I had the founders pack
Fortnite will never die, because of new players.
I hope you're right. I don't want to see this game die, but I want to call out shady buisness practices
As everybody was said one thing can be taken from this…
Greed… is the problem.
God I hope this game finally croaks.
So much truth to this video. Im glad you're trying to spread awareness i hope big content creators see this and talk about it. As something needs to be done.
I still hate how they added other extra vbucks on the second page I still disagree with them changes
Apathy is so much worse than anger, I hope Epic realizes that if people are made angry and not satisfied after a period, they will become apathetic and they loose those players for good
4:13 Anybody remember ANYTHING about *"outdated battle royal inspired mechanics"* 👀🤔
No, ok
Well no shit every online game dies one day😂😂😂😂😂
Fortnite is still popular so this game ain't dying
@@ryanfares263 but that doesn't mean it Will not die🤣
@specter.t-800 bro it has 1million people it ain't dying
@ryanfares263 IT doesnt mean it won't die eventually. Every online game dies eventually 🤣
@specter.t-800 I could see Fortnite last forever because of the new modes and content
I use renegade raider and the remix renegade raider.
So do I. I just Imagine most people with renegade raider won't use the "off-brand" version
@@NotLegendary_YT I was thinking about getting the skull trooper, but I do not really like him.
Uh oh fortnite will die!? *Continues playing fortnite*
