  • Today I react to the Car Wizard, talking about early 90's and 80's Toyota Pickups and 4Runners being the most reliable vehicle ever made! This includes the 2nd gen 4Runner with both the 3.0 V6 as well as the 22R inline 4 cylinder.

I'm on my 3rd 2nd Gen 4runner and I've grown to love and respect the 3.0... 2 of my 4runners are getting near 300,000 and still running strong... 3.0s have their limits and living within those limits will keep them around for a long time...

Great informative video I concur. A++ Thank you. What would you say about Datsun? Ever drive one or owned one? I consider Datsun one of the best if not the very best reliable cars ever made. My newest one is a 1977 B210 GX 2 door fastback A14 Engine with manual 5 Speed. The 1977 Datsun runs smoother than my Toyota 2002 Camry.

Probably just a vehicle question in general. But I do own a 2nd Gen 4Runner. Recently hit the trails and ended up bottoming out HARD on the drivers side tire. A day later I noticed a creak/ squeak when going over bumps. So replaced the shocks (all around) and I'm still hearing the noise. I tried spraying lubricant around the suspension parts of the front end on the drivers side and tightened the bottom bolt of the sway bar. Still nothing. What am I missing here?

Stop throwing parts at it. Why do people do this.. im a Toyota technician and the owner of 4runner Mafia. . Diagnose it right. Or take it to a Toyota driveability diagnostics tech

@@4runnerManco I mean, the shocks had to go anyway regardless. If you could just please give me your opinion on what you might think it is that would be great.

Lubricating the suspension parts doesn't do anything because there aren't any moving parts to lubricate. The suspension pivots on rubber bushings that flex to allow the arms to move up and down.
The creak/squeak sounds shows up when the rubber bushings fail, either the metal sleeve or rubber itself tears and squeaks. You probably blew out your control arm bushings. Jack the front end up, take the wheel off, grab the control arms and wiggle them around. They shouldn't move, if they do, you got blown bushings.

@@chkpik Actually, it ended up being my lower ball joint. Greased it up and drove it around. Noise was gone within minutes. Who would've thought. Thank you though for the advice 🙂

You’re right, mid 90’s tacomas had the frame issue due to the frames being improperly treated during manufacture by a company out of ohio named dana. never happened to frames made in japan, i believe.
