Hi Amanda. Thanks for all this information, you're an angel! I am planning on doing the antibiotic protocol with Xifaxan and Neyomicin. But I am extremely confused as to what I should be eating during the two week period while I'm taking antibiotics. I have read that you're supposed to eat a HIGH FODMAP diet while taking antibiotics to feed the bacteria (honey, bread and sugar are allowed). But I've also read that you should do a low fermentation or LOW FODMAP diet while taking the antibiotics. Lastly, some say a low carb diet is best. Any insight?
Hi Vivi, this is a great question, and maybe I should make a whole video about it, LOL! But my answer is this: I'm a firm believer in only changing one new thing at a time, and so if you're eating a diet that controls your SIBO symptoms, I advise my clients to continue that while doing SIBO treatment, and if they're feeling better after that treatment, then they can try to reintroduce foods, or eat a broader palette. The bacteria are there to be treated with the antibiotics no matter what you're eating, and eating foods you're not accustomed to or are sensitive to is just going to increase fermentation and lead to more symptoms. I hope that helps! And if you need more help navigating your SIBO treatment process, this is exactly what I help my clients with, and I'd love to connect on a discovery call to see if my Calm Digestion Method program is a fit for you. Thanks for watching and good luck with your protocol!
No, typically the recommendation is rifaximin plus either neomycin or metronidazole. I don't think I've had a client who was prescribed Keflex for SIBO before.
Hi Amanda I'm suffering from constant foul smelling gas and I was told check hydrogen sulfide sibo im ordering the test but in the mean what supplements can buy to manage this smell it's terrible it's going on 3 years any advice i would love your input thank you.
Hi Anthony, the truthful answer is that there isn't a simple magic pill in this situation...hopefully the SIBO test will reveal helpful details, but where I would consider starting your inquiry is whether there are foods that are feeding the bacteria and creating this smelly gas. Without knowing any details of your case, I would look into the low FODMAP diet to start. Here's a video I made on the subject to get you started: ua-cam.com/video/FHAS0kiv8kE/v-deo.html I hope that helps! And know that this is the exact kind of situation I help my clients with inside my Calm Digestion Method program...you can learn more about that at confluencenutrition.com/calm-digestion-method.
My sibo test came out negative even though I have symptoms.epigastric pain, bloating, indigestion, constipation my doctor believe I have it but there is nothing he could do since it negative. Is the breath test accurate? My stool test showed mid grade dysbiosis, and clostridium difficile colonization of the intestine. But I don't have diarrhea my doctor said he can't do anything. I should go and be using probiotics. I am in so much pain everyday. Please what can I use for CD? Thank you.
Hi, I’m a fellow SIBO sufferer, it’s my understanding that breath tests can often give false negatives, that’s what my GI doc said. If you have presence of C diff the xifaxan should clear it and also treat your SIBO so it would make sense to use it imo but I am not a doctor
Hi FIyinfoluwa, yes, SIBO tests are mostly accurate, especially when negative. Dysbiosis and CD can definitely cause the symptoms you describe, but there may be other issues as well. Your idea about probiotics is a viable one. The key is not to get fixated on one particular solution. If you try probiotics, you'll see if they help or not, and decide whether to keep going or not based on that. If they don't help, you'll have to look to other reasons for your symptoms. Antimicrobial protocols may also be a help, here is a video I made about tips for using them: ua-cam.com/video/Hl56_WFyWcM/v-deo.html Best of luck to you. And if you continue to have trouble getting good support, these are exactly the kinds of challenges I help my clients with in my Calm DIgestion Method program. I'd love to meet with you so we can determine if it might be a fit for you. You can schedule that call here: confluencenutrition.com/contact.
@@maudedurand7430 This is partially true. It's also possible that you have the third SIBO gas, hydrogen sulfide, which isn't measured on all but one SIBO test. This is sometimes what's happening when a test is negative.
HI Affordable, I know I've commented on your situatoin before...to me this suggests that SIBO isn't the mechanism of your bloating OR that your SIBO is resistant to treatment. But generally, when the thing you're trying to address doesn't move the needle, this suggests it's important to look elsewhere. I'm sorry you're still bloated, bloating really sucks :(
@@maudedurand7430 LFM is definitely a viable option to try to reduce symptoms. I imaging after 5 years, Affordable Aquarium has worked with that, but even so, I can often identify new food culprits with a tracking tool called a Food-Mood-Poop diary, which may be a way to uncover some new clues.
@@ConfluenceNutrition I appreciate your response but I totally disagree with your assessment I’ve had every single test you can think of every allergy test food and sensitivity test I’ve had my motility thoroughly checked out the only test result comes back positive once in a while is the methane sibo 15 ppm in my small intestine.

Have you ever heard of Keflex being prescribed for Hydrogen SIBO and have you seen it be effective in practice?
No, typically the recommendation is rifaximin plus either neomycin or metronidazole. I don't think I've had a client who was prescribed Keflex for SIBO before.
Is halitosis a symptoms of candida or sibo?
It can be, and it can also have other causes as well, like infected tonsils, for example.
Yes. Started having halitosis after taking an antibiotic for dental work. That was 7 years ago, it’s been a living nightmare since
