(edit : in response to the comments about my use of the word psychotic:
Psychosis is a severe mental condition in which thought and emotions become disconnected from reality. I don't know the full context of this short admittedly, because I'm not familiar with the source material that it is referencing, but taking it at face value it could be argued that these two are experiencing psychosis and that these flowers are not in actuality flowers just based on how they appear to have the ability to express themselves beyond the capability that flowers can. Especially when the final flower begs for it's life, they appear to empathize and rationalize their behavior and realize that what they're doing is wrong beyond just plucking an endangered flower, but in the end ignore all rational and with the "whoopsie daisy" continue gathering their "bouquet".
I do understand what this word means and this was (very vaguely) the general thought behind my use of the word.
But I also understand that using a term associated with and weaponized against people with mental health disorders (particularly ones that have been demonized like schizophrenia) so loosely can perpetuate harm against these vulnerable demographics (especially since the connotation I have placed on it in my explanation is one the perpetuates the idea that people who experience psychosis are inherently dangerous) and in hindsight I should not have done so and I apologize for my thoughtless and potentially harmful use of language.
